Bunch of Culprits

Bunch of Culprits

They left me and stooped responding for helping me, due to a small delay in my requests. The representatives refused to understand that I was stuck in the middle of the war in the Middle East.

Refund denied due to ‘technical issues’ and bureaucratic barriers

I am deeply disappointed with AXA Schengen. I was unable to apply for my visa due to a documented nationwide strike in Italy and subsequent consulate closure (Force Majeure). Despite providing official letters from the French Consulate and my University, AXA refuses to refund my policy SCHBE000177115.
Their support team suggested an impossible workaround: buying a new policy for a date that had already passed! My formal complaint from Dec 30, 2025 has been ignored for nearly two months. They claim their ‘site is under development’ as an excuse not to process a rightful refund. Avoid this provider if you want your consumer rights respected, as well as time and money.

The worst

The worst, when my mother fell down and had to the ambulance, they didn't pay for anything because we called 122/911 instead of calling some shady number they had in their fine print. My mother was unconscious, people from the cafe called the ambulance, how were they supposed to know the fine print?

No confirmation in Spanish

I need insurance for visa application ASAP. I bought on the english language version with the assumption I will be able to download insurance certificate in Spanish, but after payment I got a blank webpage, in my email I got certificate ONLY in English and on their website the only option is to ask customer support to generate new confirmation in Spanish, which takes ages.
Very poor service and fake advertisement.

Fast service

I purchased health insurance for my boyfriend, who was supposed to come to Italy for three months. I had to request a refund twice: first because the visa office required coverage to extend 15 days after returning to his home country, and second because the visa was denied.
In both cases, the refund was very fast, practically immediate. The service is very helpful and easy to use. I would suggest adding a direct contact for questions not related to medical emergencies, but their email support is always quick to respond.

FRAUD

I bought a policy from Axa Schengen while on the website it stated that you could change the starting date of it as long as it hadn't started. Once I tried changing it (being almost 2 months prior to its initial start), they only reply with an email 3 days later saying that "their site is under development so they couldn't do it" and the only solution was "that I buy a new policy, and then they'll be able to refund the old one". Plus there's no phone to communicate with them, only an email that gets replied in a lazy/bot way every couple of days and EVEN THEIR EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE NUMBER DOESN'T WORK (which is frightening as it should be the ONE NUMBER that needs to be working 24/7 as they happily say). I asked to have the old one refunded without buying a new one, as at this point I don't trust the company and it was also denied.
Its frustrating how they are still selling policies when almost half the customers have been scammed by them.

Fraud alert

Fraud alert! Made a payment on behalf of my parents to apply for a Schengen visa and the payment system crushed just as I authorized the payment. I checked my bank account and the money was deducted from my credit card. You would think straight away I would get a confirmation email... nothing. Since this company hasn't got a telephone line I had to chat to someone on the online and every time they would say finance is looking into it. And nothing happened for over a week. I had no choice but to report the case as fraud as they didn't honor anything. Be careful with them.

Much worse than insubut

Go with insubuy and save yourself money and hassle.

Axa, unlike any other insurance company in the US, has a absurd 10-day refund policy. If your visa doesn't come on time or your plans change, you're stuck with them.

Every other company refunds you in full if you cancel before your policy starts (or partially if you cancel midway).

Axa is also far more expensive (50-100% more) than providers you find on insubuy. I'm never buying from Axa again.

Extremely Unprofessional – Refund Not Received Even After One Month!

I am extremely disappointed with AXA Schengen Travel Insurance.

I purchased a policy (SCHBE000036067) for my Malta visa application and paid €188.99 on 26 February 2025. When my visa was refused, I requested a refund, and they confirmed by email on 2 May 2025 that the refund had been processed via Adyen Visa.

It is now more than five weeks, and I have still not received the refund. I have repeatedly emailed them, shared my complete bank statements (proving that the refund never reached me), and clearly requested a transaction reference number or proof from their side.

Despite multiple reminders, they have stopped responding to my emails since May 23. This is absolutely unacceptable behavior from a company that claims to be reliable and customer-oriented.

Even worse, they refuse to provide any actual evidence of the refund transaction (no reference number, no card digits, no timestamp). It seems they are either hiding information or not processing the refund at all.

AXA Schengen is clearly not transparent, and I would never recommend them to anyone. If you care about your money and mental peace, stay far away from this company.

I am now proceeding to report this issue to:

European Consumer Centre France

The French Insurance Ombudsman

French Data Protection Authority (CNIL)

Public fraud and regulatory bodies

Let the world know: AXA Schengen does not care about its customers once they get your money.

What a fraud

I booked this insurance for traveling to Europe. That worked fine. Embassy took way to long so I needed to shift the dates. However this was not possible. I called around 10 different numbers and was not successful. I think they have no customer service at all. I ended up booking a second policy (again 200$). The website stated a refund is possible within 14 days. Turned out to be not true. So I paid double. Avoid Axa under any circumstances! Absolutely fraud.

Experience with Axa

I have taken Axa Schengen insurance several times in the past with no claims. First case was this year. The experience was highly positive. The online claim process was easy and the payment done without untrust questions or rejections. I will continue using Axa in future trips.

Tried many times to actually get…

Tried many times to actually get medical service!

I got a schengen insurance from axa!

The code they provided to Doctor Please does not work for the app! Only to call the doctor.

DO NOT TEL ME that you don't use the Doctor Please service, because you send a document about it together with my policy!

I have had 4 video call with doctors and they are leaving a prescription for me on the portal. However, cannot register to get the prescription!
Error: client code not available!

I NEED a client code that works!

DO NOT TELL ME TO GO TO:
1.
your website/makeacomplaint
To make a complaint - I need the membership number to sign up to make a complaint! You did not inform me of my membership number!

2.
Call +32 0345 600 4461, as the number is not valid.

When I email you you tell me to call emergency services. When I call them, they reject me and refer me to talk to you!

Nobody will take responsibility!!

Where can I actually call to get this very simple problem solved!!??
GIVE ME A NUMBER THAT IS VALID; WITH A COUNTRY CODE; TO PEOPLE WHO SPEAK ENGLISH AND CAN SOLVE MY PROBLEM!
