Only had a 3 mile test ride so far due to weather conditions. Gearing was smooth and the ride felt comfortable. A good replacement for my old hybrid.

Solid bike, not particularly fast, but definitely fast enough for use round town. Some of the gear changes come across as being a bit rough (midrange gears) and so hopefully that's something the 6 week service can adjust away. The breaks take a little more pulling before they bite than I am used to, but the disk brakes do work well. This bike (as all bikes do) came with cheap tyres which are no good if you cycle in a large city, but Balfe's swapped them over for some Gatorskins so I should be able to ride for a fair while before getting pictures (London's glass festival continues!). I had thought that all new bikes had to be fitted with a bell. Mine was not, so that's definitely a snagging item for the 6 week service. I have a rack mounted on the bike and had to use a couple of cable ties to tuck the gear cable out of the way when putting the pannier on that side of the bike. One thing that was slightly disappointing. The vertical cylindrical tube part of the frame is just a little to wide for the normal brackets for bike locks. So when moving the old bracket onto the new bike I had a bit of trouble... then found the problem with that is the bike lock itself clashes with the pedals when cycling. Its a minor issue, but something to keep in mind if you don't regularly cycle with panniers and want to rely on some way of securing your lock to the bike when riding along.
