Stay away from these people if you really DO care about your pet

It's funny, even on the Banfield/Mercy Hospital site there are plenty of substandard reviews, and they all point to the same thing - that this is an organization run for the money, not for the patients. They are grossly understaffed, poorly trained, and the "wellness" programs they tout get you very little - bookings are 5-8 weeks out and there is no one to answer phones, email inquiries, etc., and when you DO show up for that appointment, well sometimes they're ready for you, sometimes they tell you to rebook (online of course, they don't have time for patient care). What's worse for people - and Banfield is careful NOT to tell you this - is they are a pet wellness organization, NOT a veterinary service nor a true veterinary hospital (contrary to the signage - would've thought that was fraudulent, but anyway). If your dog is ill, you quickly find out you really DON'T have a veterinarian. Our dog began having some serious issues; after waiting almost a week to get her in, they pronounced her "totally fine" - we would up at a local animal emergency hospital two days later to the tune of $430 + $1400 for an ultrasound at a referred facility. She's still not completely straightened out but had we left it to Banfield/Mercy, she'd likely be dead. I'm sure Banfield will read this and provide an "outreach" email but it's pretty clear to me and a lot of the other reviewers that this organization is one to avoid. A company doesn't have the same problems across the country at "1000 Banfield locations" unless it's systematic. Caveat emptor, sadly.
