Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service, they just don't care about their customers. Very difficult to deal with. You go round in circles between branch and different call centre departments and end up nowhere.

Don’t use this Bank

Don’t use this Bank. My brother had an account with this bank and was killed in Thailand they would not let me close his account I sent them many documents including my passport, but that was not good enough and wanted a £100 from me to check my identity. Funny I can travel round the world with just my passport. This is what they sent me.
Thank you for your email and the attached documents. I’ve contacted your branch manager in Thailand regarding your request and according to Bangkok Bank of Thailand, the following documents are required in order to acquire bank statements/transactions of the deceased account.

• Probate or Court order appointing the administrator (next of kin) of the deceased’s estate (This is a must to submit in order to proceed)
• Copy of the passport of the deceased
• Certified true copy of your passport
• Please note that our administration fee is £100.00 for identity verification process at our London branch and for international postage.

Sexist and Dishonest Service

I went to the bank today to collect a new debit card, my wife and I have had a loint account for about 15 years. We are used to the mindless bureaucracy, so we both went together with our passports. The bank said there was a discrepancy on our passports and the account name, which is 'Mr Nxx Exx and Dr Jxx Lxx'. They said that my wife's passport did not say 'Dr'. I pointed out that mine did not say 'Mr', either, as passports do not include any title. The staff person then said that, if you become a doctor, you need to change your passport - complete nonsense.

She then advised us to go back to the bank main branch and change the account name, telling us that, since my wife's passport gender is 'F', she could be Miss or Mrs. If that is the bank's policy it is both sexist and incredibly disrespectful to women.

In our experience, staff have always been generally unhelpful, and treat any problem as the customer's fault, but today exceeded all. Either the staff were being dishonest or they are very badly trained, and the bank policies are discriminatory if not misogynistic.

Be good to your blood pressure and avoid this bank.

I am an account holder and condo owner…

I am an account holder and condo owner in Jomtien Beach who banks with Bangkok Bank. I also live in NZ where I am at the moment. I phoned for help -I provided them all the information they required to identify I was the account holder but would not help me access my account after I explained it was urgent. They were more interested in following "protocol" than helping their customer. Disgusting service after another bank as I will change when I return after Covid

Been their customer for 20 years with 2…

Been their customer for 20 years with 2 business accounts and one personal. Have transferred money through their London branch many time with no problem and reasonable exchange rates. Compared to UK or EU banks they are simply amazing, technologically advanced, free instant local transfers, good world wide coverage, obsessive security.
International Debit and Credit Cards that can be used anywhere in the world.
Variable customer service experience but generally very helpful.

I was scammed by Bangkok bank and Estonian gangsters Koh…

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: Koh Samui 20.11.20.2020
From the 16.09.2019 to 31.12.19 I was scammed for more than 2.700.000 bath trough Bangkok bank.
I saw a promotion at Facebook about Libracoin, the new crypto currency made by Facebook. I decided to buy this for 250 US dollar. Just something to have on my phone and play with. If I was losing money, I could just sell it back. It seems to be safe. Nothing happened, so I sent an e-mail to the company. Shortly after I got a phone call from a man who said his name was Mike Nolan. This was the 16th of September 2019.
He said he would help me to get a wallet for my new crypto currency Libracoin. But this was a bit complicated, so he told mew to download an app called “Anydesk.” This app enabled Mike Nolan to see my screen and control my mouse. This way he could install the wallet for me.
Now things happened very fast. I got a little nervous when he went to a cryptocoin site, and clicked on “buy” and told me to tell him the OTP number that came to my phone as SMS. I asket him if he bought something, but he brushed me off and said “it was just a reservation.”
He said he would call me back the next day, and make sure everything was in order. After he hung up, I checked my account, and he had taken 4000 US dollar from my account. About 120.000 Bath. This was more money than I could afford to loose, so of course, I got really mad. I tried to call him back, but the number was disconnected. It was a so called “spoofed” number. It means that he had taken an English phone number just for this call. It is impossible to trace.
Then I went on the internet to check out the company. “TopTradePro”. I could not find anything negative about this company, just that it was an unregulated cryptocurrency company. So when Mike Nolan suprisingly called me back the next day, I was very angry with him and said I wanted my money back. He then calmed me down and said he thought I wanted to buy bitcoin. “Why did you mail me if you did not want to buy bitcoin? That is what we do. We are a big company, and what would happen to our company if we stole money from our customers?”
So I had to make a decision. Should I play along, or just hang up and loose 120.000 bath? He said if I just bought a little more, I would earn a lot of money. In hindsighrt, I know I have been naive and stupid, but nothing like this hyave ever happened to me before. He was really professional. The calm way he talked, and he was able to convince me to buy more bitcoin. Almost hypnotical. In hindsight, I know I should have stopped and taken the loss. And later, they added different expences. There was 4000 US dollar for the insurance. And I had to show them I had 450.000 bath in my account, before they could pay me back. They would not touch this money, they just needed to see that I had it. Because this was their fee for all the transactions. At this point they told me I had 105.000 US dollar in my bitcoin account. I had no choice, so I sold my car and borrowed money from a friend, but this money was stolen from my account. Now I was totally broke. All my money was gone. I don`t know how they did it, but the only explaination I can think of, if that they had someone in the bank helping them. There was no OTP number on a lot of the withdrawals. I had to take my daughter out of school, so I can save enough from my pension to rent a apartment in Norway next year.
But now I know that they stole money from my account. They had seen my internet banking site, they knew my username, and how many caracters my password was. A dream for a good hacker. They have machines that calculate passwords really fast.
At this point I don`t know exactly how much money was stolen. This is something Bangkok bank has to check. Witch transfers did not have a OTP number? I asked for this along time ago, but as expected, nothing has been done.
And the debit card they used did not have my name or picture. I know this is not allowed. The card has to have the name of the customer printed on the front of the card to make large international transactions.
Some red flags should have come up at the bank, when large amounts of money dissapear through an invalid card.
I will also contact some of the large newspapers as The Guardian and The Nation. The magnitude of this case will surly attract interest from the media. And of cource, the lack of interest from both the police and Bangkok bank itself, I think I can make more interesting story for the media. I will never give up!
I was summoned by the bank to go see the police officer again, but neither he or I did not know why.

I would like to be reimbursed for my extencive loss in Bangkok bank.
Copies of this letter will be given to the police and The bank of Thailand.
Regards Torkill Wiik
