Poor service. Rip off
Poor service. I've booked for half an hour Swedish massage and actual treatment was less than 15 mins. Actually been in the treatment room 15 mins all together: induction, dress down, treatment and dress up.

I am a member of Bannantyne and enjoy the club very much however I attend a lot of classes today being one of those days when the instructor dosen’t turn up we are all waiting eventually a member went to ask if the class had been cancelled, which it had been cancelled and we were not notified..
The 2nd class was also cancelled not everyone got a notification for that one and we were still receiving messages to be ready for your next class..
Other than that I get what I need out of Bannantyne

Pleasant experience
The Massage therapy was extremely relaxing and calming. Very friendly and accommodating staff. We swam during a swim class which we weren’t made aware about. Was very busy and seemed like a busy leisure centre when using the spa facilities before entering the treatments areas. Overall, a pleasant experience ◡̈

Personally the men’s toilets leave a lot to be desired. As some of the members are not properly toilet trained the toilets need more regular inspections as on many occasions when I have used them they are quite disgusting…! Toilet bowls full of paper and human waste…!
Also the showers are often left with empty body wash bottles and used razors.
Spa users leave their robes and towels in the changing areas.
Members use the hairdryers to dry their flip flops, shorts and swim gear often leaving the hairdryers on blowing at the items which burns them out.
Why not fit hairdryers where you need to hold the button down to use them, that way they cannot walk away and leave them going.
When doing Pilates we get announcements over the speakers all be it muted but it’s quite off putting.
Hope that feedback is helpful 😎

Thurrock Branch still needs attention to cleanliness
The Thurrock branch have made many good improvements to the centre, including the gym, wet facilities and even outside in the carpark. However the same thing keeps arising and that is the cleanliness of the changing rooms, showers and poolside. Such a shame that they can not get this sorted.

Milton Keynes bannatyne DISGUSTING!!!
I honestly don’t even know where to start with how disappointing this spa day at Bannatyne was. From the moment we walked in, the place felt dirty and poorly maintained. The floors in the changing rooms were grimy, with mould everywhere, and the lockers didn’t feel clean or secure at all they looked derelict!!
The spa facilities themselves were even worse. The pool looked cloudy, like it hadn’t been properly cleaned, and there was a strange smell throughout the whole area. Everywhere had visible grime around the edges, which made it completely uninviting to use. Everything was broken or dirty!! For somewhere that’s supposed to be about relaxation and hygiene, it felt the complete opposite.
Staff didn’t seem interested or attentive either. We had to wait around with no clear guidance, and when we did ask for help, it felt like we were being brushed off. The whole experience felt disorganised and neglected.
To top it off, the treatment rooms didn’t feel much better. Everything just felt old rushed and not very clean, which completely ruined the experience. It’s meant to be a treat, but it honestly felt like a waste of money.
I would not recommend this spa day to anyone. It was far from relaxing – just uncomfortable and disappointing from start to finish.
The food was also disgusting

No services fulfilled and refusing to give a refund!
My daughter booked a few spa services for my birthday with Bannatyne Spa Orpington. However, once she'd discussed it with me we needed to make a few changes. Firstly you can't get through to Bannatyne on the phone at all! No matter how many times you call or how long you let it ring for. So you write an email to which they don't respond. So we go to the spa and the reception have no clue about the spa services they just send you upstairs (why are you there?) The spa people also have no clue. So you can't get a refund or make any changes to anything with these people. So basically they've spoken mg daughters money and not provided the services.
I will be continuing to complain until my daughter gets her money back and I will never be booking anything with this company again! Theft!

Membership Cancellation - lack of customer care
After being made redundant and unable to source alternative employment, I requested to cancel my membership due to a clear change in financial circumstances. I provided supporting evidence and made every effort to maintain payments, which I did for a further two months, but this was ultimately no longer sustainable. Despite this, I was required to pay a full one-month notice period, with no flexibility shown.
While I recognize that contractual terms exist, the rigid handling of this situation reflects poorly on Bannatyne’s standards of customer care. It raises legitimate concerns regarding fairness and will influence my view of the business going forward.

Do not join this gym
Do not join this gym . I am a member of the chafford hundred branch . They are refusing to cease my membership even though I can no longer afford it, I don’t drive anymore and can’t get to the gym ( expense and distance without a car) Also I have to remortgage and affordability wise I can no longer afford a gym membership. I think they are very unhelpful.

Great for beauty and wellness…
Great for beauty and wellness treatments with good products and good hairdresser..Needs a few more classes in the water each week. If you've got a pool, you should have more types of classes in it, such as yoga or dance in the pool... could do more for health and wellness such as meditation, salad bar, healthy drink making, make up demo,

Gym too busy
At the times that I go and use the gym 6pm weekdays it is far too crowded and has a lot of waiting around for equipment. Equipment is not spaced properly, gym is quite small. Weekend mornings are far better and less crowded, once can use machines or free weights and can flow nicely around your program then equipment is of a good standard. Some equipment needs upgrading and more cables and benches are needed

Peterborough gross showers
Peterborough’s men’s changing facilities and showers are in desperate need of refurbishment. They’re embarrassingly dated and dirty. The men’s showers are covered in black mould.

I recently had a 30-minute Swedish…
I recently had a 30-minute Swedish massage at Bannatyne - Hastings, and unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. The treatment was advertised as 30 minutes focusing on the shoulders, back, and neck, but in reality, it felt much shorter—closer to 15 minutes of actual massage time.
When I raised this with the masseuse, I was told that only about 20 minutes are hands-on, with the remaining time allocated to setup and preparation. This was never made clear at the time of booking, and it feels misleading. If you specifically book a 30-minute session, you naturally expect most of that time to be spent receiving the massage.
Afterwards, I checked their website and did find that they mention the time includes preparation and setup—but this information isn’t clearly presented and you really have to go looking for it. It’s not obvious at the point of booking, which adds to the frustration.
This was especially disappointing as it was a gift from my husband—his second time treating me to a spa experience. The first visit, around three years ago, was fantastic, which made this one even more underwhelming by comparison.
I’ve only used a small portion of my voucher so far, but the experience has left me feeling so dissatisfied that I would honestly prefer a refund. As it stands, the value simply doesn’t match the expectation, and I don’t feel it’s worth it.
Overall, a very disappointing experience that didn’t live up to what was advertised.
