Not much to say other than the contractors have no respect for the elderly or infirm even though they are contracted to service their apartments

I have tried to repost this review to the correct website Barlows electrical ltd . Hope it works .

This company were contracted by my insurance company to come out and investigate a fault in my whole lighting upstairs and in utility room leaving me in total darkness. The job was categorised as an emergency. The first visit 24 hours later took about forty minutes and the problem returned immediately after the contractor left. The second visit after a further 48 hours took two men over two hours and they determined they could not resolve it without further investigation . They left without resolving the ‘emergency’ problem. They then subsequently charged my insurance company (therefore
Charging me ) a total of over 260.00 for not resolving the problem and writing about 30 words to explain that the problem would be hard to find and cost a further 560.00 to investigate. This cost was for two men for six hours of investigation, notwithstanding the equivalent of almost five man
Hours of ‘investigation’ already done in the previous two visits. ‘And this Without any undertaking to definitely resolve, only to investigate., I challenged my insurance company when I eventually discovered the costs for this inefficiency and raised a complaint, asking them to look into the charging and working practices of the company. I decided to source my own electrician to Investigate and resolve the problem. During that time I attempted to communicate directly with Barlows
About the issue and they ignored me . I received a quote with an undertaking for resolution from a small independent company, in the full sum of £150.00
The company were prompt, efficient, reliable and responsive, identified the fault, rectified it and left a completely tidy and neat job within three hours of visiting. There was one electrician working alone and he diagnosed, went for a few small parts, repaired and relabelled the electric box and even required some lights into the correct circuits in addition for future ease of diagnosing problems within three hours. For £150.00 in total. Compared to a potential £820.00 and no guarantee of a fix. I fully intend to speak Not only to the insurance service ombudsman about Axa and rias handling of this issue but also to trading standards in relation to the management and operating of companies contracting to insurance companies in this manner. It’s complete exploitation and I strongly recommend people seek an alternative, efficient and reasonably priced contractor to Barlows . Whilst also ensuring their insurance companies do their due diligence with the contractors they use .

We have used this company for the first time 2024 and won’t use anyone else now. Fantastic company from the electricians to the customer service team. Very polite . Come out straight away. We have a commercial property on charles street Hoole . They had done the full electrical checks and NIECE certificates . Fitted all emergency lighting and fire alarm checks 1 July 2024 Fantastic team of electricians . We had a faulty extractor fan in the toilet and even though this was a small job I called them and they came out on the same day ( today ) and fit a new fan. Lovely electrician man and woman 6/07/2024 . They were as usual so pleasant . Can’t recommend this company enough 10/10

These guys should not be advertising online as they will only deliver locally I found this out after wasting time online and two phone calls.

We recently ordered a Liebherr chest freezer from Barlows the only company we could find with the model we wanted in stock. We were slightly hesitant about ordering a freezer from a company in Shropshire when we are in Oxfordshire but we needn't have worried as we received absolutely fantastic service. The freezer was delivered yesterday less than a week from us ordering it and the men who delivered were amazing, they couldn't have been better despite our rather challenging location and house. Very happy with our new freezer and more than happy to recommend Barlows.

Excellent service from Edward Huxley Malpas Shop. I was urgently requiring replacement washing machine for my 92year old Mother. I called into the shop on Tuesday, Edward was able to find in stock similar model to broken machine, delivered early Friday morning to accommodate me going away for the weekend, old machine taken away & new machine plumbed in by two very efficient & courteous young men unfortunately can't give them a name check as didn't get their names.
