Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 431 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers frequently complain about increasingly expensive subscription costs and rising license fees that simply do not match the poor quality of programming provided to the public. Many individuals also encounter frustrating technical issues and annoying obstacles when trying to access online streaming media, mobile apps, and official websites. Some reviewers were surprisingly satisfied with specific quality dramas and found certain television presenters to be genuinely fantastic, respectful, and engaging. Some people also felt that the remarkably wide range of available programming successfully offered great balance and made the overall subscription cost worthwhile.

£170 TV licence in the UK. I'm on holiday in Majorca and I'm now expected to pay an annual subscription fee in US dollars. Just to read the news on the BBC'S website. Absolute rip off.

Totally object to paying for a tv…

Totally object to paying for a tv licence given the drivel the BBC now turn out.
I hardly watch it too many dancing shows or cooking shows or chat shows .
The morning news coverage is dyer focssing on light hearted stuff when all I want is news I now switch to sky for the news . Along with all the repeats and reruns of same old same old such as Dragons den , antiques roadshow etc.and how many more wildlife programmes can they churn out ! the films are getting worse such as the taste of things which was so slow it was boring, to weird and the christmas offering was again poor .
Lord of the flies recently too many weird effects , why did the beach schenes look like they were being watched by a shark and why was the forest red? not to mention the unecessary graphic killing of the Boar .
Better when they scrap the licence we will see then how many people will pay to watch this when most of the good shows are on free channels .

Winter Olympics - terrible coverage!

BBC coverage of the Winter Olympics – what an absolute joke! You get halfway through a live match and then they randomly decide to switch across to something else and leave the viewer in complete limbo over the match they were enjoying. Just another great excuse for me to cancel my license fee when it comes up for renewal later this year. That and yet another price hike. It’s no wonder BBC ‘taxpayers’ are leaving them in droves.

Little action just studio chats

Rarely watch BBC. However tuned in to watch some of the Winter Olympics. Big mistake for wanting to see sport. Endless studio chat with their regulars wheeled out once again. What happened to the days of great sporting events live on BBC? Now seems down to obscure minority sports - if you are lucky. No wonder BBC is withering on the vine.

OB useless!

When are the BBCs outside broadcast team going to start producing the Womens football matches with some modicum of competence?
Presenters and pundits sound levels different to the commentators so you have to keep adjusting your tv volume, a director too busy being starstruck because madonna was in the crowd to actually show us what was going on on the pitch, excessive replays while the game is going on and terrible following of the gameplay with awful camera angles.
We want to watch the football live not pointless replays and shots of ageing pop stars!

So cumbersome it is not true

We have just had to get a new freesat box - annoying and expensive in itself. It promised an app but for some reason that has been terminated. Instead we have to use the remote to enter a password which is the most combersome longwinded process ever invented. And then being so cumbersome that we made an error typing in the data, we had to go right back to the beginning. What a pain. Do please get your act together.

This useless company are increasing…

This useless company are increasing license fee to £180 from April.
It has nothing to do with inflation which they claim to be the reason, it’s because the public are fed up with watching the same old rubbish programs and switching to Netflix or other subscription companies for better films and programs!!
So the truth is people are not paying the fee because they don’t watch live tv or bbc i player. Because of this they are increasing the cost to their loyal customers!! Don’t believe the threats and letters they send . If you get a visit from a goon , you’re not obliged to talk to them or let them in ! They are security goons working on commission, just tell them to F off!!

The BBC IPLAYER fails on Winter Olympics

The BBC IPLAYER is really badly organised on two counts.
I wanted to watch the live GB v CZ curling game tonight which started at 6 pm.
That live program did not exist.
I tried at 7 pm. That program did not exist.
I tried at 10 pm and the caption told me that GB had won the match.
So there is now no point in watching it
SPOILER ALERT NEEDED

BBC Ad Player

I have no idea why BBC I Player needs to spam it's content with iriating ads ,for escapist entertainment . These ads seem to be the kind that make you want to press the off switch within seconds of their starter point. While I can undertand why other platforms and apps need apps. It's unforgivable for the BBC to spam my viewing choices with ads . When I pay the licence fee like others . There for that negaites the need for them to stuff their videos full of ads . I pay for You Tube premiem and as a result I don;t even have to contest with 10 seconds of some spammers ad. The BBC licence fee when broken down into monthly instalements actually works out more expensive then a standard yt sub. Yet the BBC still force people to watch an ad to some extent . Despite being a public broadcaster or still claiming to be one . The ads are not public service anouncment in fact before I paid for premium I saw more public service ads on yt then I have seen on the BBC of today .

In short the BBC are an entilled and hypocritcal piece of stale nonsense . The force their ads on viewers becuase they can and no one holds them to account while they hold the public to account with their hypocrisy . Which includes shows like the Apprentice which they pay a vast amount of public money to have it screened on their channel .
The Aprentice being a show that promotes the survival of the fitest in a free market . However the BBC and it's over paid top earners have never had to compete to prove their worth . Hypocrits .

🫡 BBC iPlayer & Sounds ❤️🫡

I'd pay for a licence, when I retire to Cambodia in a couple of years, if it meant I could continue, to use the i-Player & Sounds (not only Live).
The series The Night Porter & Storyville documentaries on BBC 4 & hearing Iggy Pop's show on Sounds BBC 6 Radio, well worth the license fee.

Why is iplayer so rubbish?

Why is iplayer so rubbish?
The BBC is meant to be the leader in the uk but it has one of the most rubbish players going and makes it very difficult to complain about it on their website.
They want to take everyone's money when they should just have adds like everyone else and not charge everyone for this rubbish service, even the programmes these days are rubbish I don't want to watch as they always have a hidden agenda
The BBC seems to completely have lost its way to be honest and I'm not going to keep paying for it if they don't sort it out.
