Full advice given in response to email

I emailed BCE direct for advice because my Hik vision cameras (installed by another company) notify me of *all* movement, not just people. Mike replied at 8:33pm and told me my cameras should be able to distinguish between people and other types of movement, how I may be able to enable this feature and he offered to help me further if I gave him the model number of my cameras. That’s good customer service despite there being no guarantee of a sale for Mike, 4/5 stars as this is only email contact and I haven’t bought anything.

🚨 WARNING: AVOID THIS SHOP! Unethical Deductions & Abysmal Customer Service 🚨

If you value your money and your time, DO NOT order from this company. My recent experience with their returns and customer service has been appalling and, frankly, unethical. They are grasping for money and inventing charges where none exist.

1. Bogus Return Courier Fee
I had to refuse the delivery because I changed my mind about the order. The parcel was immediately returned on the same consignment by DPD. The company then proceeded to deduct an $8.99 "Return Courier Fee" from my refund.

THE FACTS: When a delivery is refused, the courier (DPD) returns the parcel automatically. I personally checked the DPD policy, which explicitly states: "Is the recipient refusing the parcel? ...Then we return the parcel to you. You will not be charged for this..."

THE COMPANY'S RESPONSE: They claimed a charge was incurred on their side for handling the return. This is a clear attempt to defraud customers by charging them for a service that is part of the standard, unrecoverable initial shipping cost. They are double-dipping and ignoring the courier's own policy.

2. Excessive and Hidden "Restocking Fee"
On top of the bogus courier fee, they deducted a further 10% Restocking Fee. Their excuse? "Inspection, repackaging, administrative handling and non-refundable payment gateway transaction fees."

This is an outrageous, excessive charge for a product that was NEVER even opened or accepted. It went straight back to them.
The 10% deduction for non-refundable payment fees is simply an attempt to shift their cost of doing business onto the customer. Legitimate businesses absorb this cost.

3. Negligent and Non-Existent Communication
Their customer service is non-existent. I emailed them asking them to reply when the item was received (which was on Dec 8th).

They ignored my request and my email for 7 days.
I was forced to chase them up by telephone to process a simple refund.

Their excuse for the delay? The "Christmas period." This is unacceptable; professional businesses manage peak periods without ignoring customers for a week.

IN SUMMARY:
This shop's "Returns and Refunds Policy" is a scam designed to claw back as much money as possible from the customer, even when the mistake or cancellation is immediate. They are charging bogus return fees, applying excessive restocking fees on unopened goods, and providing terrible service.

Avoid the headache, avoid the fight for your money, and avoid this dishonest company. There are plenty of reputable online shops that treat customers fairly; this is not one of them.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify the points raised.

Return courier charge
When a delivery is refused, DPD does automatically return the parcel; however, for business accounts this return is not free of charge. A return or handling surcharge is applied to the sender and billed directly to our account. The amount deducted reflects the actual cost charged to us by the courier.

Restocking deduction
The restocking deduction is not related to the condition of the item or whether it was opened. It is applied to recover costs already incurred on the order that are not refunded to us when a return occurs. This includes the original outbound shipping cost and non-refundable payment processing fees charged by the payment provider.

These charges are outlined in our Returns & Refunds Policy, which applies to refused deliveries and cancellations and was referenced during our email correspondence.

Communication and timing
We apologise for the delay in responding to your email. During peak seasonal periods, including December, response times can be longer than usual. We understand how frustrating this can be and agree that clearer and faster communication would have improved your experience.

We value all feedback and will continue reviewing our processes to ensure policies are communicated clearly and service levels continue to improve.

Inhuman Family Business

I'm unable to return to BCE, circa. 1 month outside of the 30-day return period, the CCTV unit (GBP525) that I purchased on the back of wrong link provided by my electrician who also didn't open to check until he needs to install. I've offered the following but rejected by BCE - it said to be a family business but is completely inhuman with no empathy:

- you can reject the refund if the products returned are not brand new
- we are willing to pay certain admin fee for you to process the refund
- we will buy a new set of cctv as follows which is 50% more expensive once the incorrect set can be returned

Dear Lam C,

Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear you're disappointed, but we’d like to clarify the facts to avoid any misunderstanding.

Your request to return the item was made approximately 60 days after purchase, not within the 30-day period as suggested. Our returns policy is 14 days, which is standard and in line with UK consumer law for change-of-mind returns.

The item supplied was correct and matched the order placed. The issue arose due to a mistake by your electrician providing an incorrect link, which is unfortunately beyond our control.

We’d also like to emphasise that we are not a try-and-buy service. The products we provide are professional, security-grade systems designed for serious applications and come with appropriate warranties. As such, we cannot accept returns well outside the stated period, especially when items remain unchecked for two months.

You’ve suggested our refusal to accept the return is “inhuman” and lacking empathy. As a family-run business, we genuinely take pride in treating customers with fairness and respect. However, fairness must apply to all – and that means upholding our policies consistently. We’ve taken the time to consider your proposals carefully, but we cannot accept liability for ordering errors made externally or waive our terms on that basis.

Kind regards,
Customer Service Team

Failed to deliver or communicate about…

Failed to deliver or communicate about the order. We ordered a cable for international delivery in one week and received confirmation the order had been shipped within 1 day. When we asked for the tracking code by email there was no response to the email after 5 days. I called for the tracking code and they said they were not able to ship to the destination and apologised for not communicating anything and not delivering the item

Apologies for this issue, I just had a look through our records and although we did try to ship your product out to you, at the time your country was unfortunately on a restricted list not accepting mail from the UK. The package was then returned to ourselves and a full refund was processed. I've also searched for your email address in our mailbox and cannot find any results. It may have jumped in our spam folder and subsequently got deleted. Again our apologies for this issue.
