Poor admin and contact methods

Would not recommend this service purely due to the administrative delays and how difficult it is to contact them. When seeing the audiologist for a hearing test and receiving my hearing aid, the service and quality of my appointments were great. However, since being referred to ENT for an MRI etc., the service has been shocking. It took over 16 weeks for me to have an ENT appointment and this is due to my referral not being sent off in the first place. Despite numerous emails of me expressing my concerns that it doesn’t seem my referral has been sent, I never got a response. The phone line is usually impossible to get a hold of too and when leaving a voicemail, you don’t get a call back. Eventually after getting through a few weeks ago, I explained my concerns and it was clear the referral hadn’t been sent for ENT as I then managed to get an appointment for the week after. My ENT appointment wasn’t great either, a very long wait and bounced back and forth between rooms because the doctor couldn’t find my previous hearing test results and since then, I’ve of course still not heard anything regarding the MRI referral and can’t see a referral has been sent for this. Only that I’ve been discharged when it was noted on my form and confirmed in that appointment I do need to have an MRI. No surprise, I’m now unable to call and get through to ask about this.

Rubbish

I’ve read all the reviews of this surgery and some of them are good and I am amazed at this . I have only ever had bad experiences and several of them . My elderly parents live in crowborough and I’m astounded by the quality of care . My father who was 3 weeks post hospital stay including 2 wks in icu had a chest infection had been prescribed 2 courses of antibiotics which weren’t showing any improvement.
I have no idea why after the first doxycycline he was prescribed another course seeing as it didn’t work . No offers of bloods to be taken . When the chest infection persisted to a breathlessness and difficulty speaking my mother contacted the 8 am phone line to be told she would get a call at 6pm or later . Then couldn’t get antibiotics till next day .
I’m medically trained and this is unacceptable.
Everyone bows down to Dr Paice but he is lazy and does the minimum

Fellow Liverpudlians go here and you'll be treated like dirt.

Fellow Liverpudlians, users of Trustpilot, members of the human race,

If you have the misfortune of needing to see a doctor for any reason, then add another bucket of woe and pain to your ill health by trying to telephone these rude clowns.
In the past you'd call a surgery's reception and make an appointment of a time that suits you both. Not any more.
They have a rather experimental booking system.
You phone them to make an appointment. Sounds simple right? Oh, sweet summer child. No, you'll be told to go online by some rude young woman. Then when you do go online you fill in the form and answer their questions. Can you then book? NO! you are then stuck on the booking page. Why? Because the system does not let you actually book.
In confusion you call them back. This time they tell you, as others here have rightly pointed out, that you've got to call in the morning. 8AM. Are you gonna get through in time before all the slots are gone for that day? Who knows? Health roulette. Want to make an appointment, for your day off work, in 3 weeks? Forget it. They only take appointments on the day.
Whoever designed this system has made it very difficult for the patient to see their doctor. Is this on purpose? So that the doctors can better know the contours of their golf courses?

The people of Liverpool deserve better than this. We pay our taxes, are we to be denied healthcare because some zero watt bulb administrator thinks modernization equals making people miserable. Until they scrap this terrible system, best to avoid. Talking to them will only send your blood pressure through the roof.
Good luck out there, the world grows darker.

I have had ongoing chest infections…

I have had ongoing chest infections since September 2023. Almost impossible to see a GP, saw a health professional who told me my wheezing chest was my tummy rumbling because I was hungry!
I’ve now changed GP surgery & have been treated with respect & care, which is a refreshing change, I’ve also had a diagnosis which is being successfully treated. Beacon Medical need to rethink their attitude towards patients, they have a terrible reputation.

I have been trying to get my elderly …

I have been trying to get my elderly parent seen for a full health assessment for almost a month now after talking to the out of hours GP. After a lot of phone calls and even a visit to the actual surgery where I got told they couldn't help me even though I am his PA. I lovely lady called SANDRA called me on the call back service and did the referral that we needed while I was on the phone with her. She took the time & effort to read the full email that the out of hours GP had sent to them and double checked that the referral had gone through correctly. If the other receptionist had took the time to do this it would of been sort nearly a month ago. THANK YOU SANDRA FOR YOUR KINDNESS & PROFESSIONAL EFFORT. I wish more GP staff were as efficient as you.

Doctors?

Doctors?? What doctors? Ever time I contact them I have to wait half an hour to even get through to be told I have to contact them online. Okay, then a person calls me, presumably a doctor, drive half an hour in to then realise at the end it’s another triage nurse examining me coughing all over the place! I’ve had this condition before but she didn’t really seem bothered about that! Had to go & speak to I presume the one & only doctor in that group.
This is so so sad, I remember when it was a family doctor, you could walk in, speak to a friendly receptionist, see the same doctor who would get to know you. They were all cold & heartless as if I was an inconvenience. I really question if any GPs are there anymore. Think the word Group has a lot to do with it, Corporate. Go somewhere else.

Medical staff are great reason for one star is there billing system. Never received a statement and was not the first time. Told them to mail both statement and email so I would at least receive something. Was notified by collections they were able to contact me but never received anything from Beacon!

Awful place. Change doctors.

Awful place. Doctors hardly take anything seriously. Can't give prescription for my reasons even though that is the reason to take the prescription. Don't help at all. Receptionist came off as extremely rude and acted as if I don't know anything about my own health care when I know more about it then they ever have. Ridiculous. Do NOT trust these people. Two stars as it's harder to get rid of the review but if I could I would give zero stars for these ignorant people.

No longer possible to simply call and…

No longer possible to simply call and book an appointment with a doctor. If you fill in their online form to request an appointment you get a response that is so badly written it doesn’t make any sense - I’m not sure if I have a call/appointment or not.
They’ve made it so difficult to make an appointment that you end up leaving it until you have multiple issues and are completely exhausted and depressed by the situation. Added to that I do not feel comfortable discussing medical issues with non medical personnel and don’t feel I should have to. I was informed that a doctor would review my appointment request but it clearly wasn’t the doctor who replied to me.

There is something seriously wrong with this practice/group.It feels like they’ve been advised by some management/streamlining company to move over to an online system in order to reduce unnecessary appointments and reduce reception team size, my guess is that they hope is that at some point people will be forced into the new system and have to adopt it, but judging by the queues when you ring, it’s clear that people simply don’t want an online only system. At some point you have to admit the new system isn’t working and pivot, they do not seem able to do so.

A big shout out to Beacon Medical

A big shout out to Beacon Medical. Submitted my online consultation. Received a callback from a very helpful nurse practitioner the same day. Tests were suggested. Attended Ivybridge health centre and collected the test kit. Submitted it the following morning, which was a Friday and was told to expect the results in 5-7 days. The results were loaded onto my NHS app the following day, with an update by Dr Evan’s at 2100hrs. I then received an NHS text stating a prescription would be ready to collect, which I gratefully did on the Monday.
I have been critical of Beacon medical in the past but this was exceptional service.

Steer clear if you value your health

Steer clear if you value your health.
Worst healthcare provider I have ever had the misfortune to be involved with. Since becoming Beacon Medical they have continued to fail time after time.
Cannot get a face to face appointment for love nor money.
I have sleep apnea that causes me to stop breathing up to 40 times an hour. Spent 6 months gathering data to share with my GP to be told - ‘we don’t offer face to face appointments’.
Faceless and careless - they couldn’t care less that their patients suffer, the practice manager should be ashamed.

I regret ever reaching out

I regret ever reaching out for my mental health 9 months ago. They haven’t actually done anything, just passing blame to other services and I am now in a position where I can’t work because of the anxiety this whole thing is causing me. I truly would avoid this surgery if you can

Great service

Recently joined as a new patient. Needed my repeat prescription sent to new pharmacy. Went into the surgery and a very friendly, and efficient lady at reception helped me. Got my prescription sorted immediately with no hassle.

Flat out negligence

I have been struggling with severely debilitating symptoms since July… 2024. I have been having to contact the practice at least monthly since then and was stuck in an eternal cycle of them just requesting the basic blood tests then shrugging it off and sending me away when they’d come back normal.

My health just keeps deteriorating and I have been housebound (and mostly bedbound) for nearly a year and a half now. I’m only in my 30s. I have spoken to SIX different GPs about my issues (one of which is severe constipation), who just keep shoving more laxatives that don’t resolve the problem down my throat and do zero investigation. Despite having had several symptoms that are compatible with bowel cancer since 2024, only very recently did a GP actually see me in person (and of course he just plied me with laxatives) and only after that did a GP (the SIXTH one I spoke to) actually properly examine me and then requested stool sample tests. Then I received a text saying that in TWO WEEKS a GP will contact me to discuss the results. They simply do not care whatsoever.

As for the reception team/admin team, I unfortunately have to agree with the comments. My repeat prescriptions were stopped awaiting ‘review’, but of course nobody informed me of that. When I called the practice I spoke to a Heather, who was absolutely awful and should not be in that job. She kept telling me I had to go into the surgery to get these through (not to be examined or anything, literally just pop into the clinic and tell them in person the same thing I was telling her over the phone) and when then kept accusing me of ‘being rude’ when I said that this rule was ridiculous, as I am literally too weak at this stage to leave the house as a direct result of their negligence. I did not raise my voice and was not rude in any way, shape or form, but I guess to her pointing out that what they are doing to disabled people is atrocious is ‘rude’ to her.

On top of that, a couple of days ago I complained through the form about having to wait a further two weeks for someone to be bothered to call me about the results of the tests someone should have requested over a year ago but didn’t. Received a text from a Lynda, who decided to just lie so it would seem like my fault. She claimed my GP had attempted calling me on the 23rd about the test results but I did not answer.

The (phone, of course) appointment on the 23rd had been booked BY MYSELF on the 20th, as I was experiencing a strange new pain in my abdomen (but of course my GP had zero sense of urgency and only booked it for in three days, despite the fact that she wasn’t even bothering to examine me). The reason I missed the call was because they had texted me previously saying the call would happen IN THE MORNING, but my GP, who has been completely dismissive of my issues for the past year and a half, only called at THREE IN THE AFTERNOON, when I was busy studying as by that point I was sure nobody was bothering to call me anymore. My tests were done on the 23rd itself, so I don’t know how Lynda had the audacity to try and pretend like the appointment had been booked to discuss the results.

Lynda also claimed that I now had to wait until the 10th of November as this call had to be done with my GP and her next availability was only on the 10th of November. Well, I called the practice after receiving Lynda’s text and was informed by someone else (who was nice for once) that my phone call on the 10th of November wasn’t even with my GP, it was with a random doctor I’d never even spoken with or heard about before. So Lynda lied twice in an attempt to make it seem like my fault. Truly atrocious.

I will be filing a complaint today. I am sure nothing will come of it, but the next step will be taking them to court for medical negligence when I finally receive a diagnosis (this is needed to start legal proceedings). I would strongly encourage everyone who has suffered because of their negligence to do the same and take them to court.

Outstanding service.....thank you

A relative was acutely unwell and our family was worried, an online consultation was made at 8am and our relative was called by a clinician by 9am and seen the same day just after 10am. Medication was prescribed and collected and our relative was home by 11am. What amazing care and quickness to be seen. What an outstanding service and thank you to all the team at Beacon.
