Misdiagnosed, overcharged, and ignored — do not use this company.

Misdiagnosed, overcharged, and ignored — do not use this company.

We called Beacon for intermittent cooling issues and were assigned tech Jeff. After two paid diagnostic visits, he told us our mini split needed a $971 circuit board replacement — but never diagnosed or even flagged an issue with our main heat pump, despite us reporting the exact same symptom on it from day one.

Appointments were missed, calls went unreturned, and scheduling was mishandled repeatedly on their end, leaving us without a working system for over two weeks. When the "fix" didn't work and the main unit failed too, Jeff abruptly claimed multiple components were "shot" and pushed us toward a full system replacement costing $15,500–$23,000. He then pressured me into paying the remaining balance for work that hadn't fixed anything, while I was home alone, right after I told him I believed his own misdiagnosis had made things worse.

A second HVAC company confirmed the diagnosis was wrong and that we were being steered into an unnecessary, wildly overpriced replacement. They fixed the actual problem for a fraction of the cost using completely different parts — proving Jeff's diagnosis was simply wrong. We requested a full refund of $1,371 ($971 + $400 diagnostic) in writing, left voicemails for a supervisor, and followed up weeks later. Beacon never responded once. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Fixed in one day! (Previous plumber claimed they couldn't get the part.)

First a DIFFERENT plumbing company charged us a non-refundable fee to diagnose our issue, but claimed they couldn't get the part and never followed up to fix it! Then we called Beacon Plumbing! A Technician came up and fixed our issue the next day, so we were very happy about that! Although part of their price was not what was indicated in the beginning, we called and were able to talk to the owner of Beacon Plumbing. He rectified everything!

I strongly advise against using Beacon…

I strongly advise against using Beacon Plumbing based on my recent experience. I scheduled a visit to address a clogged main line and was quoted a $75 trip fee, which I agreed to. Without my authorization or a clear explanation of costs, the technician proceeded with additional work that did not resolve the issue, and I was charged $700.50.

I was then told that excavation—costing around $8,000—would be necessary. Fortunately, I sought a second opinion. Another licensed plumbing company came out, performed a basic snaking procedure, and successfully cleared the blockage without any need for excavation. The issue was fixed quickly, professionally, and for a fraction of the cost.

I raised these concerns with Beacon Plumbing and was met with aggressive, defensive, and unprofessional behavior, including a phone call from a manager that I found threatening. Despite being informed multiple times that I am a tenant, not the property owner, they attempted to threaten me with a lien—which would not even be legally valid in this case.

Beacon Plumbing has failed to:

Disclose pricing before performing work

Resolve the actual issue

Provide an ethical or necessary recommendation

Respect clear requests to stop contact

I have disputed the charge with my credit card provider—not as an act of fraud, but as a legitimate challenge to a charge for services not rendered. I will also be sharing this experience across review platforms to warn others about these deceptive practices.

Do not use this company unless you're comfortable with high-pressure sales tactics, poor communication, and potentially unnecessary work.

Rip-off

Rip-off. $535 to snake a kitchen drain in just a few minutes. Scheduled for same-day service but didn’t show up until the next day. Look elsewhere. Gave 2 stars only because the plumbers were friendly.

Avoid!

I needed trim (handle, faucet) installed on a new shower. On 11/20 a plumber arrived, took a look at the shower, and said they would need to order supplies. I put down a $600 deposit on a $1226 estimate and was told it would take 7-10 days for the part to arrive and then they'd be in touch to schedule the install.

After hearing nothing for 1 full month, on 12/20 I called customer service. Sr. mgr. Mark became immediately defensive and told me that because "specialty parts" had been ordered it would cost $500 to cancel. He then proceeded to tell several lies:

Mark repeated twice that the contract said it would take 10-15 days for parts to arrive. He claimed that "10 to 15 days" was written on the contract. I had a copy of in front of me and could see this was a lie.

Mark then said the plumber had called me "several times" to update me over the last month that there had been a delay in the parts arriving. I have the plumbers number on the contract and a quick glance at my missed calls, messages, and texts showed this hadn't happened.

Mark also claimed the plumber had my paperwork "right there". This was contradicted minutes later by the plumber who said he'd lost my number. My phone number is at the very top of the contract.

The "specialty piece" that was ordered was a Moen Verso head and Align handle which I can buy separately at retail for $368 total and have delivered in 4 days via build.com.

10 minutes after arriving for the install a couple weeks later, the plumber said he couldn't proceed because the shower construction hadn't been done properly and he needed an extension piece.

Then, without getting any work done at all, they charged me the rest of the $1226 in full and told me they could come back sometime with an extension for another $300.

At no point did Mark or the plumber try to do anything but get more money from me. No attempt to explain the radio silence or delays aside from lies. No attempt to do a good job or make a thing right.
