Poor service and noisy rooms
Poor service and noisy rooms. I said I could hear a noise during my treatment and the reception explained the swimming pumps were being repaired. I paid for the treatment in full and tipped the therapist, even though I'd had a rather stressful time during my treatment, which should have been a oasis of calm and tranquility.
I asked to speak to the SPA manager who called me back to offer 30% discount of another treatment. As if I'd part with more money again and go back there to have a mediocre treatment and hear noises of swimming pumps being repaired! I said that a possible fair approach would be a good-will gesture offering me the same treatment again free of charge. I'd then give the club another try under those conditions.
It was never about the money, but the principle. I wanted them to put it right and recognise that I had had a dissatisfactory and unpleasant experience. Instead, the manager (Sam, who wasn't in on the day) sounded like she did not believe me at all and kept changing the story (suddenly it were the gym showers making the noise!). To add insult to injury, she kept saying 'no one else complained' as if comparing me with other people would make the situation any better.
For some obcure reason, she then asked for my email address. She had my phone number, obviously. She said she would 'investigate' further and let me know. She never did email me back. I called her and she said she could not offer a free treatment (she could have said that several days earlier on the first call!). That's fair enough but how about a partial refund, I suggested.
She said she'd call me back and she did but ONCE AGAIN her only solution was to offer the insulting 30% off of another expensive treatment in another room (meaning I'd pay again for something with zero guarantees I'd receive a peaceful treatment without the noisy interruption)
To her mind, that was a 'very good deal!' She could have said that the first time we spoke, that they'd do nothing to properly address the situation apart from make the client book further treatments.
I never felt they wanted to validade my very genuine noise complain, which should've never happened in an expensive club such as Beechdown. I was not after free things or a full refund. It was the principle and, if they were having repairs, it's fair enough. But my treatment should have been postponed then. I didn't have a good experience, I had waited for her to email and she didn't do what she said she would, claiming that she had too many clients (I was a client too!)
Avoid like the plague as you'll pay dearly for a massage (nothing special) and if something goes wrong, you will have a real problem being believed and your will be three times more stressed than when you booked a treatment to relax in the first place!
