I fly every week from have to say…
I fly every week from have to say Belfast city is head and shoulders better than most other UK regional airports.
Always an easy/quick checkin experience, very quick security (less than 5 mins) and friendly service. Bar and food area excellent and updated lounge will be superb.
Only two things to criticise would be car parking fees (ridiculously high for Belfast - £50+ for 48 hours) and the newly introduced £3 drop off and pickup fees (flying every week this adds £24-£30 to monthly costs of using the airport). Again ridiculously priced and alongside the very poorly designed and sign posted new road layout is causing carnage coming into the peak summer season.
As a side note the free drop off area in the long term car park is a disaster waiting to happen with no designated section/area and the majority of cars pulling U turns directly at the barriers (and or taxis refusing to enter stopping in front of the barriers as they can only enter once for free each hour).
The worst airport in Northern Ireland …
The worst airport in Northern Ireland , security checking in weren’t welcoming and abrupt , also wasn’t enough security officers on as ladies had to wait for a female to finish searching . When we got through security and into the departure lounge we went for a drink at one of the restaurants were a bar staff member was speaking to another customer . He proceeded to walk straight past us without a hello I’ll be with you in a minute , we waited for a few minutes and still no bar staff . How does this airport make any money . I wouldn’t advise anyone to fly from here
Greedy rip off Airport
Another RIP OFF company charging £3.00 to pick up and drop of Already paying customers DISGUSTING THIEVES. A dirty airport and ripping customers of to eat. The arrivals area is a disgusting disgrace
Parking Staff Swore at my Daughter
There is a new road setup which diverts cars away from the busses and taxis. However my daughter was picking up her sister and did not notice the signs and out of pure habit drove the old route which meant she was trapped between bus barriers. After being shouted at by taxi drivers, she explained her mistake to the speakerphone at the barrier and the guy on the speakerphone called he 'some sort of f-ing moron' and ranted for a while about missing the signs. It was an honest mistake that another driver also made after her but she was in floods of tears, embarrassed and shaken. as you can imagine there is no way to complain either to the airport or the parking company. Very poor reflection on both.
Belfast City Airport
Very close to Belfast. Easy drop off and pickup. Went through check in and security with no issues. Everyone was friendly. Duty free area is not huge but it is good enough and you can enjoy coffees, drinks or food or buy staff.

Discriminatory against their black and minority ethnic passengers if you are black for instance get prepared to have those extra security checks!!! It's very obvious the airport staff could definately do better in treating people fairly and equally. Tired of this blattant rascism !!!
A very difficult and upsetting…
This was a very difficult and upsetting experience. I had to pay extra for my hand baggage. This is not the upsetting part. It was how I was treated by the member of staff. She was unpleasant throughout but during payment she took my phone to scan my boarding pass. She failed to give me my phone back. I was flustered and upset about the interaction but realised when walking away that I didn't have my phone back. I walked back and saw she had put it down in front of her. I said "that's my phone" and reached forward to pick it up. She grabbed my hand and tried to prevent me from picking up my own property. She then realised what she had done and let go. I repeated "that's my phone" and walked away as she shouted at me "it's not my fault I had to charge you extra." The extra charge is irrelevant. She had no right to grab my hand. Why raise her voice at me? I suffer from arthritis in my hands and being grabbed like that is extremely painful. When I got on board the plane I was actually shaking. Airports are wall to wall CCTV. Somebody should be able to review what happened and prevent this from recurring. Travellers are vulnerable and there was no way I was going to challenge her behaviour at the time but it was honestly a despicable way to behave. She said she works as ground crew and said she didn't work for the airline so I assume her employer is Belfast City Airport. Never had an experience like this in all my years of travelling. Totally ruined my holiday.
No pedestrian footways from entrance …
No pedestrian footways from entrance at the moment and poor lighting- so pedestrians and train or local bus users take their life in their hands if they to try access this airport on foot .In the obsession with charging for car pick ups, even the grass verge inside the terminal is taped off and inaccessible to pedestrians. There isn’t even the option to use the advertised ‘courtesy’ bus to train station - apparently this is a ‘courtesy’ and therefore nonexistent, Normally you ask inside the terminal for this - there isn’t a courtesy phone at the bus top outside. That keeps first time arrivals on their toes and wastes a bit of their time. Although to be fair the staff might tell you they have booked you a courtesy pick up to station then decide 20 minutes later that they are too busy to bother with it and not let you know that as you wait outside. Without the airport bus to station you can’t use the locked gate at foot bridge to station. This airport is not environmentally motivated to enable access other than by car or transfer passengers who are unable to walk the considerable distance from station , without any footways inside the terminal gates.
Security scanner is only for Asians/Non White
Security scanner is only for Asians, just got through security scanner this evening on the13th September 2022 at/around 6:55-7:15 PM and Mitie Sub Contractor/staff on the security counter let through 5 different passengers without passing them through the scanner or indeed carrying out any checks on the passengers (including one with black boots up to the ankle hight). Asked Mitie staff why did they not pass them through the scanner or any hand held scanner, initially the female staff on duty could not answer and brought her colleague who said he cannot answer this question i.e. why these passengers have been let through without passing them through the scanner or any other device?
FAO: Airport Manager: Please consider this seriously what Mitie staff are doing on this airport or have done today? CCTV footage of the left security counter will show clearly what I have written above. An apprentice was also being trained on the body scanner by these two members of Mitie staff. Wonderful trainer training an apprentice for the future generation and compromising airport and flight security???
Belfast City Airport is not too bad at…
Belfast City Airport is not too bad at all.
Delighted with the smooth transition within the airport. There are always plenty of staff on duty to help with checking in and passing through security.
I would recommend arriving about two hours before your scheduled flight time to allow for any possible long queues for check-in and security to allow you enough time to relax and enjoy your journey.

Shocked and outraged at the despicable service. Flew from Heathrow to Belfast city 4 days ago and my suitcase never arrived (5 others also missing their luggage). Told to fill out a form and I would get a text within the hour with a reference number so I could track my suitcase and that it would most likely be on the next flight out. I never received the reference number. There are 12 flights a day from Heathrow to Belfast. Therefore 48 opportunities for them to arrange my suitcase be delivered to me, but have chosen not to. I have been unable to work and have spent my time here extremely concerned I won’t receive the expensive and sentimental items that are inside my bag. No care whatsoever to customers
Do not hire a car from Avis at this…
Do not hire a car from Avis at this airport. They took a £1200 deposit and to date, 5 days later, it has not been returned. No one will answer the phone.
This airport is a disgrace
This airport is a disgrace! It’s like being back in the dark ages. We’ll probably miss our flight because there’s no one here to check in or do bag drop. Queue miles long. Absolute joke.
Sounds like runts.
Rude staff. Covid advice not followed. Cavemen dragging their knuckles in security. One of whom referred to my five year old daughter as ‘it’. I nearly lost my temper. The airport needs closed. Noah’s arch is more modern.
Fast and convenient
It's a small city airport, there is not much shop wise but it's clean and the security is fast. I prefer it much more to the international and always had a very relaxed experience in there.
As boring as they come
I live close so I have to use the airport often
Pros:
Comvenient location
Clean, tidy
Cheap facilities
Cons:
The rest is just no good, not a pleasant experience. But after all it's just an airport
Absolutely terrible airport.
Absolutely terrible airport. I've never been on a flight that has left on time. Tonight my flight was cancelled and I ended up having to exit the airport after going through security to re check in for a different flight! Then this flight has been delayed - twice! Will I get home for Christmas at this rate?! Zero communication from the airport. People shouting at the departure boards, tempers flaring. And it's just a regular day here. Maybe it was the tiny bit of snow that caused it all. Shocking.
Do yourself a favour, use Dublin Airport if you can. It's out of my way but I can't feasibly think of using this one again.
My daughter used the long stay car …
My daughter used the long stay car park. Due to a flight delay she ran over her pre paid exit time by 90 minutes. This cost her a fee of £26 which is completely unacceptable. No wonder drivers wait for the arrival of passengers outside the car parks. Comple rip off.
Telephone never answered
have been trying to call with ref to parking in long stay car park.
it is supposed cheaper to book online than on the telephone, but how can one compare when the phone is never answered.
