Bad service from Belgian rail

I spent over 3 hours today for a return trip Antwerp/ Brussels which normally should take only half of the time, due to maintanance work in Brussels. This has at no moment been communicated to passengers, who had the surprise of an alternative route ( and a 20 minute stop without any explanation - there seems to have been no train attendant on board - at Schaerbeek station).
Difficult at these conditions to opt for public transport... I'll definitely hire a car next time!

This website is a pure mess

This website is a pure mess, what do they need your gender ? are they so sexist they treat differently men and women ? why am I obliged to create an account to buy ONE SINGLE ticket ? why do they need my name ? This site is so stupid, intrusive that the only reason to use it, is that no alternative exist.

Another bad experience

Another experience, another bad one...
We try to use the Belgian Railways as little as possible as there are always a lot of problems and it is expensive.
But in this case we had no choice. Next to the extremely overpriced tickets the following problem. Our guests wanted to visit Gent before heading to Brussels Airport to return home. So as per regulations we bought extra tickets for them from Lichtervelde to Gent (original ticket Lichtervelde - Brussels airport) as they are seperate voyages now.
However, upon arrival on the train in Lichtervelde there were a lot of students decending the train. Normal procedure and only possibility is to let them get off and board the train.
Not with this conductor. People were not even off the train, doors were closing. Everybody got off but entering was not possible anymore. Doors closed, train gone.
So no visit to Gent, bought extra tickets for nothing and even putting people in danger.
Another proof that government contracts for people for the Belgian Railways is not the way to go. If you're bad at another job, you get fired. Why not here???
Not the first time encountering a similar problem with the godlike attitude 'can't touch me' from conductors. A cancer that needs to be cut out!

The service is awful

The service is awful. The train is delayed and they keep changing the track of the train. They only announce of the changes in dutch. The screens are far away from where people wait for the train. You would think It is not a western european country. Further, you cannot use your train ticket for the bus nor the metro.

Belgium Train 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

It’s rarely happened that I have time to write a review. But this time I really wanted to expressing my “not so nice experiences with Belgium train”. It’s not only one times, but it’s happened so often, Normally I took a train from Antwerp centraal or Berchem to go to Hamont, I always check that it is in the right zone that will goes to Hamont. But I end up in somewhere els because they change it in Mol and only Dutch announcement (I’m an International customer) . one time it was the last train and I end up in Haselt waiting for someone to pick me up until 23 PM!!!! I just wonder why do they put on the board announcement it’s goes to Hamont if they change it in Mol, I think it’s better if they only write it to Mol, then we now that in Mol customers need to change to other train, it’s really ANNOYING!!!!. I really hate it!!!!

Horrible unprofessional service

Aug 9 2023- I am writing from Antwerp station— beautiful entrance but horrible service. We wanted to take the 3:44 pm train to Breda. Train was late, then they changed the “spoor” from 22 to 21. We waited at 21 and a train pulled in at 22, ahead of schedule. It was our train. We ran as the doors closed and conductors not only did not open doors, they both (a white man and a black man) started laughing at us! We spoke to an official who could not help us and then watched as the train stayed on the tracks with the doors closed for a full 10 minutes! I had heard about conductors being attacked by passengers— I don’t condone it but now I understand.

Disappointed with Belgian Train…

Disappointed with Belgian Train Company: Stuck in the Past

Belgian Train Company's technological infrastructure is laughably outdated. It's as if they are stuck in the 1980s, while the rest of the world has moved on. Their website is a prime example of this, with its sluggish performance and outdated design.

Speaking of tickets, the fact that they are provided only in PDF format is yet another example of the company's lack of innovation. While other train companies around the world have embraced mobile ticketing and digital solutions, the Belgian Train Company still relies on cumbersome PDF tickets.

One of the worst train services!! always delayed, always cancellations without previous notice, crowded, expensive and on top they go on strikes making the poor service even worst aah but the only thing that works perfectly is charging us the full price of the ticket, that you can be sure never fails!
