Zumba (Mondays and Fridays) …
The Monday night and Friday night Zumba classes with Yvonne and Emily are brilliant. Really fun and I can honestly say after attending from March that despite never having done these you can pick up the routines quite quickly. No judgements just good cardio. Would recommend! I travel across the borough for these and it is well worth it.

In late 2025 we became aware that the cost of our current music license that covers all our 250 leisure centres and gyms across the UK would increase significantly. As a charitable social enterprise focused on community benefit, we carefully reviewed our options to ensure we continue to invest our resources responsibly and sustainably.
Following this review, we asked our fitness instructors to transition to PPL pre-cleared, royalty-free music. This approach allows us to manage rising costs while continuing to deliver the high-quality classes you expect.
In practical terms, all instructors are being provided with free access to Power Music; one of the most widely used fitness music platforms. Power Music enables instructors to create their own playlists using professionally recorded studio tracks (not AI-generated), giving them flexibility while ensuring full compliance with licensing requirements.
We hope this provides reassurance and clarity about why we have made this decision, the care we have taken to engage with and support our instructors and our commitment to maintaining your class experience. As we implement these changes we will continue to monitor feedback and engage with staff and customers.

Every time I have used better facilities, I have always found the staff to ge friendly and helpful. And if I’ve ever encountered a I problem, they have always dealt with it straightaway. I’ve have always found the facilities up to standard

Frequently classes have been cancelled…
Frequently classes have been cancelled over the past month, which is very disappointing. The music that’s been played now is horrendous, no incentives to come to gym because of lacklustre music. Very unhappy at the moment, could you improve overall. Being a member of this gym over seventeen years and never seen this .

Cold showers
Albany leisure centre has the coldest showers ever, I asked the staff at what temperature were the showers set at and was told 39 degrees. Feels more like 20 degrees. I see children shivering under the showers shameful for better uk not taking action and investigating this problem as I have complained several times to staff.
Also the price difference between Albany centre and Southbury centre is ridiculous for a swim and sauna there is appox £4.00 difference.WHY?

Better is trying to get better,however…
Better is trying to get better,however the sauna and steam room in my local centre keeps breaking and then the repairs take months to fix.The general cleaning of the centre could be better.
As always better could make things better but for £40-60 memberships it does the job.

The staff are great
The staff are great and the ladies changing area is clean but find the changing village which everyone walks through cold. The aqua aerobics with Sam is great but trying to book onto the popular classes can be difficult.

Be human and don’t hide behind terms and conditions.
Albany gym- lack of common sense. Be human and empathetic.
I have been charged despite making a cancellation with 3 hrs to go- reason being a health issue.
I initiated an email to apologise for the 1 hr shortfall & asked for the charge to be waived but the management at Better do not consider this reason enough- they lost credibility when they quoted terms & conditions!
So what about:
-the app not displaying the fee when u go to cancel a class?
- what it does is cancel the class immediately but if people knew about the charge, they don’t have the option to retract the cancellation. There is only an email after the penalty has occurred.
The right thing to do would be for that to be clear and transparent and allow the customer to appeal- & could be done within the My Account tab.
Yet if u didn’t cancel, could anyone just tap in & walk straight out, no matter how many classes that had booked & not get charged? How does that make sense? That would be a waste as nobody gets the opportunity to fill those unused classes.
& after speaking to head office, as if the feedback wasn’t clear, they tell me I can log a complaint. Oh dear.
I have to say I spoke with a lovely lady but her manager did not do the right thing by me, nor by her- by letting her explain their poor decisions.
Do better. Please.

However, should you need to cancel your class within the four-hour timeframe, we encourage you to reach out to our customer service team via phone for assistance with the cancellation. Additionally, please be aware that we are unable to waive charges in all circumstances; this will be determined based on the specific situation and at the discretion of management.
