Staff are very supportve and knowlegeable to guide you through the process of registration. An induction that is so valuable in showing you how to use equipment.

Workington leisure centre....
I started a direct debit and paid £36 Inc start up fee (whatever that is)...
Was not told that the changing rooms were NOT single sex.....had issues with the set up of the membership....and found it impossible to book any swimming online....even with the help of the online staff whilst on the phone...they told me to go into the leisure centre to do the refund request there...but that's 30 minutes drive away.....absolutely
ridiculous....
I therefore cancelled the membership and am in the process of requesting a full refund.....which....judging by the issues I've already had just trying to book a swimming slot.....is going to be a nightmare experience...
Don't bother....

I decided to take my nieces swimming here yesterday, before setting off I went to book our places for the session online but the website kept displaying an error message every time I submitted my payment details. I rang the customer service helpline and was advised I would be able to book in person on arrival. I made sure I got there early so there was still places available (which is a 45 minute journey from my house), I was then told at reception I couldn't do this in person and would need to use the website or book through the app. I then downloaded the app whilst stood at reception and was getting the same error message, my sister who was with me also tried to do it via the app and website and the same thing was happening to her. At this point we were missing the start of the swim session, so I asked if they would be able to make an exception and let us pay in person. The staff were extremely unhelpful, shrugged and said there was nothing they could do, continued serving other people and basically ignored me until I left - bearing in mind my young nieces were stood next to me with their inflatables ready to go swimming! I understand that businesses are moving towards technological advances but there really needs to be contingencies in place for when they are not working, rather than turning away paying customers who are consciously trying to make use of community facilities. I was extremely disappointed with this response and had already paid for parking too. I then left and checked the website to see if I could book an afternoon session at Copeland Pool instead but still got the same error message. I decided to drive to Copeland Pool to see if they were able to help, when I got there they were extremely helpful and said that of course I could book in person and did not understand why I was unable to do so at the Workington centre. Luckily this meant that the days plans were not totally ruined, and my nieces got to go swimming after all

Ive been a member of Workington sports centre since 2005 originally at the moorclose venue before moving to the new Workington Leisure Centre, this place is run by the most incompetent people I’ve ever known! No professionalism at all and no one cares there, don’t even bother to try and call the centre because they don’t answer the phones/ no staff in the main gym room for help or advice, air conditioning and ventilation is more than often broken or not switched on even with all the risks of Covid virus around, staff that intimate you to leave at the weekend so they can close early and close before the official closing time of 4:00 o’clock and more importantly I find alarming that as a PAYING MEMBER ANYONE CAN JUST WALK IN AND USE THE WHOLE FACILITY FOR FREE BECAUSE THE BARRIER GATES ARE ALWAYS WIDE OPEN NEXT TO THE RECEPTION DESK THAT YOU SUPPOSED TO USE YOUR MEMBERSHIP CARD/MEMBERSHIP APP TO SWIPE IN FOR ACCESS!!! IF YOU WANT A FREE GYM JUST COME ALONG AND USE THIS PLACE AND YOU WONT GET BOTHERED AT ALL FROM THE STAFF, GYM, SWIMMING POOL, SAUNA, CLASSES IS ALL FREE TO ANYONE JUST TO WALK IN AND USE AND YOU HAVE NO WORRIES OF BEING CHALLENGED BY THE INCOMPETENT STAFF THAT WORK THERE! THERE NOT BOTHERED SO GET YOURSELF THERE FOR FREE FACILITIES USE, JUST SAD FOR THE MEMBERS THAT PAY EVERY MONTH AND SEE HOW SHOCKINGLY THIS PLACE IS RUN AND NOT EVEN ANY SECURITY TO THE VENUE, THIS ORGANISATION SHOULD BE CALLED “WORSE” NOT “BETTER”.
