Good but let down by some poor subcontractors
Overall we are pleased with the finished result however it was not without some pain.
We were told it would take 2 weeks however it was nearly 3 months before we finally waved goodbye to them.
Jayson (the owner) & Lisa his partner are genuine nice people and will always attempt to find the right solution however in our case they over promised and were let down by some poor subcontractors.
Our biggest issue with Jayson was not keeping promised appointments. We would be told his team would be here at 9 and obviously we would ensure that we were ready only for us to phone at 10 and ask where are they? This happened on several occasions. A preemptive call from them would have received a better response.
The subcontract plasterer changed agreed dates and then left plaster footprints all over our sandstone patio and into our drive and garage. To his credit Jayson immediately jet blasted it clean after we told him. On fitting the glass back splash and the up-stands the newly plastered wall is very uneven and the blinds have a spacer on one side to counter the uneven plastering.
The subcontract electrician should be struck off the NICEIC register. Despite having drawings he put sockets in unusual places including half hidden behind a cupboard. He allegedly fully tested the circuits and produced a test certificate which we are yet to see however he left our property in a dangerous condition by wiring the neutral to the wrong side of a split neutral board. Within the last week I have discovered the cables installed by this electrician have been joined behind the gas over by terminal blocks and taped together with insulating tape instead of being in an enclosure.
We discovered a water leak.caused by a drip from the poor connection of the washing machine. This caused swelling to the wood within the kitchen frames. Jayson replaced the parts and made good without question and as quickly as was possible.
We had a new gas oven fitted some 5 months after the installation was finished, (hence discovering more of the electricians bodges). The cooker which was a direct replacement wouldn't fit by about 2mm. I contacted Jayson, even offer to pay for the correction but heard nothing. I have now resolved the issue myself which was the filler being fitted off centre and the wrong face being stuck to the carcass.
Clearly BKC are very popular and extremely busy but are leaving a poor experience instead of a positive experience because of some poor subcontractors, lack of inspection of works and over promising..
