Beware: Microsoft Ads will bill you for running Google Ads

If you use the Google Ads import tool available in Microsoft Ads BEWARE. I opened a Microsoft Ads account for my small business and, out of curiousity, I used this import tool just to see how it works. I never turned any ads "on" in my Microsoft account because I had no intention of running ads through Microsoft in the foreseeable future. None of that mattered. I have been billed $450+ over 16 days because I used this import tool. Each time I was billed I logged into my Microsoft account and turned off ads that somehow were "on". they just kept turning back "on".

What I've learned from Microsoft's customer support is this: when you use Microsoft's Google Ads import tool, Microsoft essentially links your Microsoft ads created from Google Ads to your Google Ads. So, you innocently work on your Google ads on Google's platform - and Microsoft automatically revises that ad in the Microsoft Ads platform and then turns it "on" and bills you for running a Microsoft ad. I'm not kidding. Total cluster you-know-what.

Others have experienced this. Another Trustpilot reporter was charged $3,000 by Microsoft after pausing ads four times. See review posted by Jeffrey Smedley on 5/31/2023.

I've filed a complaint with the BBB and alerted the US Federal Trade Commission about this. I'm scared to even look at my Google Ads account. Not sure if just logging into Google Ads will trigger a bill from Microsoft.

What a desperate, petty move on Microsoft's part. I guess they figure they can't beat or compete with Google Ads so they figured out a way to syphon money through the Google Ads platform.

Hope this helps other folks. Had I only have known I never would have opened a Microsoft account, and I definitely wouldn't have tried out their import tool - no matter how hard they push you to "give it a try".

Bait and switch

Bait and switch. I redeemed a spend $25 get $150 ad credit through Wix. My ads were always declined eventhough they did not violate any rules, the reps could not tell me where my ads were appearing after I checked on multiple sites. I receive multiple emails from them daily about disapproved ad, and after a rep verified the ad did not violate any rules, I still received notices. Lastly, when the $25 was used, they paused my ad and pointed to their terms and agreement for the $25 for $150 ad which reads that $250 is required to be spent. Thankfully, I screenshot the $25 for $150 promo. I am disputing with my cc company because this was clearly a bait and switch.

Microsoft IS Disceptive

Microsoft allows us to migrate our existing Google ads account without informing us of any fashion, that if we were to pause our Microsoft account they can unsolicitedly reactive our account we tried to pause 4x but they kept reactivating costing us over 3000.00

A really bad start with Microsoft Ads

A really bad start with Microsoft Ads. They automatically created a Smart campaign in my account that has charged me without my permission. I warn you to be very careful setting up ads in Microsoft Ads. Just stick to Google Ads. It's a million times better

Microsoft Ads is the worst CPC service.

Microsoft Bing is a completely inadequate service, I was an honest user of the system for over 3 years. My account was blocked without explanation, citing high risk and that's it. No excerpt from the clause of the rules that I violated. And I did not make any changes to the account either.

I registered for a Bing Ads account and was blocked shortly after. I contacted customer service, but they didn't seem to check anything and didn't offer any solutions. I was disappointed with the lack of support and the fact that my account was blocked without any explanation.

Sharp practice

Sharp practice. Billed me for ads not wanted and never approved. Refused to cancel the billing. Even if the ads had value (which they don't) would never deal with them again

Evil customer service

I made an account to run ads for my shopify store and it was permanently blocked after one day. I have not run any ads. I only created a draft campaign that lead to an empty site. The support service pretends to care, makes small talk and then suddenly becomes hostile, starts using broken English and ignores you. No explanation, account remains blocked. The jump between extreme friendliness and then frightening coldness is terrifying.

Click Fraud Runs Rampant With Bing Ads

I've been using Bing Ads (now rebranded to "Microsoft Ads") for over 8 years. I didn't have any issues, until 2021, when I decided to use Bing Ads for my own local business, instead of using it as an affiliate or marketer.

That is when things went downhill and I noticed how poor Bing's business model and customer "support" really is. My main problem is that Bing does absolutely nothing to prevent click fraud, and they don't refund your money when you show them actual PROOF of click fraud or invalid clicks. They just lie and say "we couldn't find any evidence of click fraud" or "the clicks are valid."

I own an auto repair shop in Las Vegas, Nevada and I only provide services to people in the nearby area. So when I created my campaigns in Bing Ads, they were all set to only target visitors who are physically in Las Vegas, and I excluded each and every state outside of Nevada, in my campaign settings.

Even though I excluded states outside of my own AND only chose Las Vegas to target, my ads were still being shown to people in various states. People/bots were even using services like Amazon Server or other VPNs to click my ads. Their IP addresses, city, state, etc all show up in my server logs with their actual location. I would show this evidence of invalid clicks to Bing's terrible reps and they would take several days to "investigate."

Only to email me or call days later saying "those clicks are valid and they're actually people living in Las Vegas." Total lies. Never refunded a penny of my money.

So I decided to cancel Bing and never look back. I also let everyone I know not to use them unless they enjoy paying for invalid clicks, bot generated clicks and other money-wasting schemes.

Good riddance, Microsoft. I no longer support you.

Absolutely diabolical customer service

Absolutely diabolical customer service. Simply can't get hold of anyone. Tried and now ads are paused because they want me to confirm I own the domain. They have been taking hundreds off me for over a year and now an issue. Domain is a trading name of our company which is standard in UK. Can't get hold of anyone. Another AI machine sending the same documents to be send back I have just had enough and cancelled. Bye bye Bing Ads.

Microsoft Ads is a joke

Microsoft Ads is a joke. Despite my respect for Microsoft, their Ads Service is the worst, and I work with 10+ Advertising Platforms. Opened Microsoft Ads Account,Setted up a campaign (following all their rules and restrictions) and in 1 hour my account been suspended. Ok,contacted customer service, they made an apeal,in few hours i get notification that "Your accound in permanently blocked, and this is ths final decission" No reason nothing. Have to mention, that:
1. I didn't violate any of their rules.
2. Exactly same ad and same keyworsd, same images and text been placed on Google,Taboola,Facebook,Outbrain etc. and all of them approved with no problems. Microsoft seems to be special.
And I know at least 10 person whi tried to run microsoft ads,and they had exactly same story.

Well microsoft, thank you for the amazing Microsoft Surface I'm writing this review from, but Your Ads Services are disgusting.

Had money stolen from my account even…

This review is for Microsotf Bing ads. I recently had a small amount of money stolen from my account even thought i didn't have a bing ads account, i noticed and contacted bing ads to deal with this and still waiting after 2 weeks. And now another payment has been taken for the same amount form my account with no explanation and they also don't seem to be in a hurry to fix either. Not happy and would caution anyone thinking of using them.
