Came into the shop after looking on the Internet at various options to replace five year old Berghaus walking boots, and reading various conflicting reviews.
Was served by an excellent and knowledgeable member of staff called James. He showed me the various options and answered my various technical questions regarding materials, tread etc confidently and clearly very knowledgeably.
Really glad I went to the shop rather than buying on line.

Lily was so helpful. I was looking for a new umbrella and she showed me lots of options to choose from and was very informative.

I was served in store earlier by the wonderful Lily. After giving me ample time to browse and having served her previous customers, she politely asked if I needed a hand. She showed me many epic deals that they have in store and was very helpful. Thank you Lily. Thank you Blacks Brighton.

Really excellent customer service from store manager Harry, in helping me to get the right hiking shoes for an upcoming trip to Sri Lanka. He was brilliant, massively knowledgeable about all the products, he was also very approachable and good humoured and he spent a lot of time advising me but I didn't feel pressured to buy. It made it all seem very easy to select the shoe that's right for my trip...lightweight, durable, comfy and high quality Merrells and I'm really pleased with the purchase. They were sold at a really excellent price with 30% off. I'm usually the most indecisive person ever but Harry was ace and made the decision easy. He also gave me some advice on some other pieces of outdoor clothing including a Rab jacket and a Columbia fleece which I also bought and have been really pleased with. I highly recommend the store if you need any equipment/clothing for outdoors activities/travel, chat to Harry and he'll sort you out!

I recently wanted to purchase a new rucksack for travelling. Harry, in the brighton shop, couldn’t have been more helpful. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and funny. He recommended a bag based on what I needed and gave a thorough demonstration of its features. The bag I wanted was out of stock but he really went above and beyond to get me the bag, which I was able to collect the next day. I would highly recommend going into Blacks and speaking with Harry if you are looking to buy anything!!

I was in your Brighton North street today looking for a pair of comfortable walking shoes.
I was dealt with with a guy called Mike - he was excellent,
Measured my feet accurately, gave me independent advice, explaining that I had been wearing the incorrect shoe size for a long time.
The shoes he advised in size 14UK were not in stock, he advised the best website to buy them, so there was no hidden agenda.

Soraya was super helpful and engaging finding me a new pair of walking shoes. She was knowledgeable and got out almost every shoe in the shop to try until I found a comfortable pair! We had a lovely chat about hiking and travel and it was a shopping experience enhanced by a lovely human connection. Thank you Soraya.

We always shop in blacks for outdoor wear and have always had a good experience. Today was particularly good as Harry in the Brighton branch was so knowledgable and gave really great advice on which coat to choose and the pros and cons of the different styles and materials. We bought a Rab in the Black Friday sale and we are super pleased. Thanks Harry you’re a star.

We were visiting Brighton for the day and happened to walk past Blacks. I have been looking for walking boots for a while, but can’t ever seem to find any that are comfortable enough. Soraya asked if we needed any help and I had picked a pair of boots to try, so she went and got them for me. They were not very comfortable. Soraya suggested a few other pairs for me to try and eventually on the 5th pair I found the ones that fit perfectly, thanks to her patience and advice. Even better that they were in the Black Friday sale. In other shops I have been in they just get the boots you ask for and normally seem uninterested, but Soraya was committed to try and find something that worked for me. I was very impressed with her customer service and although she was very busy she was still very professional and helpful. Thank you so much.

Bought a pr of Berghaus boots today.Was served by Lily who was so helpful ,nothing was to much trouble and she brought a few pairs of boots out to help me decide .Staff are always happy here and it's a pleasant shopping experience here.
