Good Cooking, Bad Repair

The cooking process is good. This is obviously different than a gas grill, but there is a lot of versatility. A bit of a learning curve, but the food turns out as good as the chef making it.

My gripe relates to changing the starter. Changing the little box is not too bad, but changing out the wires involves a near-complete disassembly of the grill. It's as though they made it intentionally difficult to change the box and the ignition wires. The first thing you have to do is disconnect the tank and move it out of the way so the shelf drops down. After you drop the shelf, you have to completely remove the shelf from each side. After you do that, you have to pull off the burner knobs and then remove the brackets that hold the knobs in place. Only after that can you take off the faceplate and actually access the starter box and the wires.

But even before I got that far, I found that the pieces that are mounted next to the burner are very difficult to remove. The screw and nut that holds them in place are very close to the ceramic piece on the starter, and you cannot easily get to them with a screwdriver or a box wrench. You have to hold the nut with a pair of needle nose pliers and then work with a screwdriver that is really close to the burner. I did not want to bump or dislodge the burner, so that was very difficult. But even then, the screw and nut were rusted, and they simply froze in place. There was not enough room to really turn the screwdriver, and 2 of the screws stripped in the process. The only way to remove them would have been with a hacksaw. Again, I did not want to damage the burner tubes or displace them.

So before I got any further on the process, I looked on Amazon and found extra long fire starters of various types. You know - those butane lighters with the long tube. I bought those instead so I can simply light the grill by hand. I removed what I could of the starter assembly, cut the cables, and pulled a lot of that hardware out. Into the trash it went. One nice thing about this grill is that the burners do not clog because no food falls down onto them. Thus, I am going to light the burners on the outside with a handheld lighter and then just turn on the 2 burners in the middle. Once enough gas flows, they will light. Not ideal, but spending $20 for long lighters beats the heck out of a 3 – 4 hour project with endless frustration.

This really should have been thought through a little better. The cooktop will obviously outlast all of us. The burners will not clog because no grease is raining down on them. But the starter is a part that needs to be replaced regularly. It is known to fail based on the mechanical nature of it. No problem there; the replacement kit was about $20. But actually getting to the starter box and connecting up the wires was extremely difficult. Far worse than it had to be. So difficult, I opted for a different approach. They need to go back to the drawing board to simplify the design.

I wanted to share some concerns…

I wanted to share some concerns regarding our ongoing collaboration over the past several days. Unfortunately, I’ve experienced a recurring issue with scheduling. The POC person I’ve been working with has repeatedly canceled calls and rescheduled meetings without providing clear timelines for when these sessions will actually take place. This has led to significant delays, and it’s become increasingly difficult to make any meaningful progress. At this point, it feels like there is a lack of commitment to meeting the deadlines, and the repeated changes are starting to create confusion and bad experience.
I believe open communication and respect for scheduled commitments are crucial to ensuring we can move forward efficiently. I would greatly appreciate it if we could establish a firm timeline and clearer expectations for upcoming meetings, to avoid any further disruptions and ensure smoother progress.

Very disappointed in this product

Very disappointed in this product. Purchased itn11 months ago. Used it for 2 months had it stored as instructed, always cleaned it after every use, seasoned multiple times, opened it up this year and all rusted. Bought the kit and stone for cleaning, did that which took almost 3 hours to clean and re season. Still looks like vrap don't even want to eat off it. Addressed my concerns and the voidednmynwarrantybdent me a partial frame and refused to replace the grill. $800 poorly spent. Never buy this product unless you are prepared to put more elbow grease into scrubbing rust than you are to enjoy cooking on it.

Paid around $1500 for a top of the line product. Used maybe five times before one of the knobs fell off which meant I needed to replace the valve for the entire gas system. A minimum 3 month waiting time for the part. Unreal how poor their response was on this with no alternative to get resolved.

Quality is not that good for the cost and the more it costs the less the quality

To begin, this is my second grill from Blackstone.
1st was a Tailgater and was a decent grill for the money. Sat outside for several years but other than rust issues, which was to be expected, worked well and I finally had to replace the burners after 10+/- years. No real complaints about the Tailgater. So I bought an "On the Go" and it has lasted about three years before the Grill Box rusted out and the grill grates no longer have a ledge to sit on.- So useless at this point. Oh did I mention it has been under my covered porch for the entire time I have had it. It was about four times the price of the Tailgater and worked fine until it didn't I would think long and hard before I purchased another Blackstone product.

Avoid Avoid Avoid

If I could give a minus, I would. Booked an accommodation in Londn via booking.com, hosts being Blackstone Leasing Limited. Booked and paid full amount in October 2023 and dealt with all the requirements of uploading ID etc (although had been asked to send it via Whatsapp, so declined and remained in booking.com). Near the arrival date (JULY 2024-9 months later) I was in communication to try to arrange an early check-in, then suddenly the accommodation was cancelled 3 DAYS before our arrival. They had our money for all that time, no compensation, no apologies, just some Bull about the property having some issues. Absolutely devastated. THEN the property was immediately relisted on Booking.com at a higher price.

I really write reviews and have never…

I rarely write reviews and have never written a poor one except for this .
Bought the 2355 model griddle .
Once assembled , the control knobs failed to depress . Called customer service. Wait time 1 hour . Finally after 3 days . 4 including the holiday I was able to speak to someone via chat after answering the most circuitous question menu to finally reach a person . Explained to knobs didn’t depress and actual control mechanism did work but without the knobs . No problem they will send me new knobs but they are “alternative “ knobs and not the originals that go with the griddle . Fine . How long 7-10 days . How long to get the original knobs since the griddle is 48 hrs old and not used ? Can’t answer that . Wow
My suggestion is don’t buy the product . If there is an hour wait for customer support and they can’t replace the most basic of elements of their product , they’re out of business they just don’t know it yet . Complete waste of money

Blackstone Canada as well as Blackstone…

Blackstone Canada as well as Blackstone USA Grilling company has possibly the worst customer service I have ever seen. I ordered a 2000.00 pellet grill, yes that is how much it is with taxes in Canada. I received it weeks ago and have been trying to get it to work ever since. The smoker will not heat up and is obviously defective. They refuse to return calls or email back. The chat function is useless. It was mailed to me it is huge and weighs an incredible amount so it is not simple to just mail it back.

I bought one of the griddle combo online, and the airfryer never worked so have tried to get help online numerous time and for hours, and never got connected with a live agent. I have called them and pressed 1 for customer numerous times as well and it never connects to anything. It keeps repeating the same greetings… I have never encounter such poor customer service before. It stooped down to a new level! Avoid!

I won a Blackstone griddle in a silent auction, 22 in. I have always wanted a griddle and it is awesome to cook on one now I only wish I had a bigger one. I have cooked everything from breakfast to smash burgers and everybody raves about how good it is. I know it takes being a good cook also but I really enjoy cooking on this. It is great for camping with the 1 lb propane capacity and I look forward to someday getting the bigger griddle.

Days have passed and no reply from customer service!
