Adopting a dog is not a small decision. For many families it is a 10–15 year commitment involving the care and well-being of a living animal that will become part of the household. Because of that, the information presented in adoption listings matters a great deal.
I want to make clear that this review is not written to attack animal rescues as a whole. Many rescues do incredible work saving animals and placing them in loving homes. My intention here is simply to document something that I experienced so that other adopters can evaluate it for themselves.
While researching adoptable dogs, I came across a dog named “Jasmine” listed through Blues City Animal Rescue. On Petfinder, the dog is described as a Goldendoodle and Poodle mix. The listing can be viewed here:
However, listings connected to the same rescue organization on other adoption platforms show different breed descriptions for what appears to be the same dog. In some cases, the dog is described differently depending on the location or listing page. Blues City Animal Rescue itself explains that they operate with fosters and chapters in multiple locations across the United States, which is why the same animals can appear in different regions.
The reason I am including screenshots, photos, and links is so that readers can review the listings themselves and make their own assessment. I believe it is important for people to see the information directly rather than simply relying on someone else’s interpretation.
When the same dog appears on different platforms with different breed descriptions, it can create confusion for potential adopters. Breed information often influences expectations about size, grooming needs, temperament, energy level, and long-term care requirements. When those details are inconsistent, it becomes difficult for families to determine whether the dog is truly the right fit for their home.
This is not only about the adopter. It is also about the animal. Dogs deserve to be placed in homes where the family understands their needs and is prepared to care for them properly for the rest of their lives.
For that reason, I encourage anyone considering adoption to carefully review listings, ask questions, and verify information before making a decision. Adoption is one of the most meaningful commitments a person can make for an animal, and ensuring clarity and transparency in listings helps protect both the dog and the family who welcomes that dog into their home.
