The pool is so tired and grotty, rust running down, it used to be really lovely, the accommodation is ok "fine" but nothing special for the price

Been before but likely wont return again.

Accommodation needs to be supplied with more cleaning supplies like mops and cleaning products.
Carpet coming apart at the seam
Wardrobes falling apart.

Food overpriced and very poor quality. lack of options
how you can justify 6.50 for a bacon sandwich with 2 pieces of bacon and ham egg and chip for 17 pound is beyond me. i understand things need to be marked up but a single bottle of oasis costing 3.30 is a bit excessive.

everything seems tired the bare minimum to keep things going.

rented a golf cart for the week, spent most of the time seeking a charger out and again they all looked to be in disrepair and dirty. you pay 125 for the week and you cant have it until 2pm on the monday and then have to give it back by 10am on the friday

I placed an order and no delivey…

I placed an order reading on website that delivery 2 to 5 days. Then after placing order discovered delivery would be over 2 weeks, I tried to cancel but no reply and watch sent. Then received tracking saying watch was delivered bit I have not received product. Chased up with Bluestone with no reply, chased up with carrier who said to contact local delivery company but I have no info on who that is. So after weeks of chasing my $150.00 I haven't progressed any further. No one wants to help do not buy from here or if you do don't expect help.

Fantastic holiday but tired and poorly maintained accomodation

This review could easily have ended up being 4 star - but unfortunately a couple of safety events, and their handling by Bluestone, have resulted in this rating.

We stayed at Bluestone for a week from 16th September.

On the surface the accommodation looked lovely - but it only takes a couple of days to realise that it's quite tired and poorly maintained. The en-suite bathroom had black mould all over the Velux windows, the shower door leaked, the fridges barely got cold and the dishwasher draw had been replaced with an ill-fitting replacement (fun on the back when it's loaded!).

The real issues came up both related to stairs.
Our toddler had a nasty fall due to a defective stair gate - the latch was broken and on closer-inspection the lower bolt on the gate was poorly fitted and would never have worked. Fortunately she was ok, and Bluestone did respond quickly to come in and make some changes - but it really should be properly checked before each guest arrives.

Then on the last evening I was walking downstairs barefoot when I felt something "nip" the bank of my foot. I was bleeding quite badly. The carpet gripper bars on the stairs carpet had managed to give me a deep gash even through the carpet. Annoying and uncomfortable as this was, I'm glad it was my foot and not my toddler's hands or feet that were victim to this.

After reporting it to, a rather unsympathetic H&S manager, I was assured it would all be checked.
I then received an email a week or so later from Guest Relations assuring me that all carpets are fitted by professionals and to industry standards.
That's okay then!

The resort has the potential to be great, much of it is a wonderful place for a family holiday. It's just a shame they run at such a high occupancy and don't prioritise maintenance and safety a little more.

The issues themselves wouldn't have stopped us from returning - our little one loved it, but their response to the issues mostly likely will.

Cheaper than the competition and just as good, if not better.

We recently returned from a 4 night stay with our two pre-schoolers and can’t recommend it enough. I can’t understand what others reviewing the resort with low scores are seeing, but we were recommended to go here by several people and we had a fantastic time.

The cost was less than half the price of the most obvious main competitor Center Parcs that we have also visited in the past, and the experience was mostly better. There are far more free activities at Bluestone and the extra bookable activities are again maybe half the price of Center Parcs.

Upon arrival the organisation was direct, the park easy to navigate and the buggy rental smooth and easy, The lodge was comfy enough, albeit with a slightly broken patio door handle but it had everything we needed. We barely stayed in it though as there was so much to do for the kids, with several parks (and conveniently placed coffee facilities often near them), a giant rainproof dome named “Serendome” with at least 5 or 6 great activities and a stage with some paid and some free shows, a huge indoor play area with massive bouncy castle catering to kids the age of our youngest (2) all the way up to probably 8 or so with the larger climbing stuff and slides.

My memories of the pool at Center Parcs are that it was better than Bluestone, but that isn’t to say the pool at Bluestone is lacking. It has a lazy river, several flumes including pitch black dark ones, and regular wave machine as well as two toddler splash pads and rock pools to play in, and an outdoor area that was unfortunately being renovated while we were there. Again all free for unlimited use during the stay.

Regarding paid activities my eldest (nearly 4) loved the ones she did and they were mostly worth the money I would say. Nothing exceptional but nothing to complain about and as long as the kids have fun, who cares? That’s why we’re there.

In terms of grown up activities it is more limited, but there are still some bars on site and the village pub is open until 11 I believe, with live music some nights which is decent enough, but this is very much a resort for families with young kids.

So on balance if you are wondering based on the price tag if this place is that much worse than the competition, the answer is that Bluestone excels. In fact as far as I’m concerned I will most likely be taking my kids back next year and Center Parcs will be a distant memory.

£2320 Poor value

I booked a 4 night, 5 day stay in MerlinsCrest at Bluestone in July for £2320. However, for 2 days we were unable to access the accommodation as we were not allowed to book in until 4.30 pm on the day of arrival and had to vacate by 10 am on the day of departure so that, in effect, for 2 days of the holiday you have paid for you are living out of a suitcase. The accommodation itself was good and we enjoyed the water park but the activities are expensive. I paid £116 for an hours laser gun shooting and an hour's hire of 2 kayaks. A zip wire ride of under 2 minutes costs £16. The food is expensive also. A burger and chips meal at Bluestone is £18 but the same meal at Folley's Farm, a zoo and fairground attraction nearby, is £12.95. Cooked breakfast at Bluestone £13, the same meal at motorway service area on M4 £9. Overall we thought it poor value for the money we paid and will not be returning.

Really disappointed in our recent stay

Really disappointed in our recent stay. Blue Lagoon shutting on the weekend at 6pm. Hoards of unaccompained teenagers swearing and threatening families ( obviously staying on resort ). Extremley poor quality food and service in the farmhouse grill. Awful weekend all round. I feel that Bluestone now just wants to take as much money as possible with little to offer, very poor.

Great BDM and underwriter!

Absolutely fantastic from start to finish, lots of things to unpick from the application and was told throughout what to provide by Laurel the BDM and worked with me to package it up properly which led to a day one offer with hard work from Dave at underwriting. Would highly recommend!

Great 4 day family break

Just spent a great 4 day family break down at Knights Rest. Whole resort very well staffed especially for safety all around the blue lagoon. Buggy hire was a good decision as lodge was quite some distance from the main activities. Lodge good and clean on arrival. Nice and quiet location within site.

What an amazing place to take the family! Such great value for money. So much to do for all the family, our lodge was the perfect size I would say my only negitive feedback would be that the kitchen wasn't as well equipped for a family of 6 as I would have liked but that didn't stop us having some great family meals.
I would advice taking bikes to get around. The arrival was smooth and we arrived in the dark during a storm! I would highly recommend this for an action packed family fun weekend, no need to go anywhere else, so much to do on site. We will be booking again!

Amazing stay!

Amazing five days in Bluestone with my wife and three sons. Everyone we spoke to was happy, helpful and couldn't do enough to make our stay a good one. Such a beautiful place, and the accommodation was superb. We have already decided to book again for next year!

Accommodation was dirty

Accommodation was dirty, the pool was absolutely rammed full and freezing cold we found out that the prices we payed for food at the oak tree was more expensive than on the menu, and we booked and payed a deposit in the farmhouse grill to be told that the booking wasn’t made and there was nothing we could do about the £20 deposit that had been taken from my account.
We have been visiting bluestone for a number of years but unfortunately this will be the last

Nice surroundings but lack of bathroom door and shortage of towels

Bluestone does have lovely surroundings - the kids had fun in the pool - the snow dome was a little disappointing and the variety for smaller children was a bit limited. Loved the spa. Our lodge was lovely although it could have been cleaner on arrival the most disappointing was lack of a bathroom door - so anyone walking into the room had a clear view of anyone using the toilet - and any bathroom light switched on during the night disturbed the other person!!- this slightly ruined our stay. Towels were not supplied at the pool so the two supplied at the lodge (one large and one small) were insufficient to shower and go to the pool with for a week especially as there was no washing machine at the lodge.
