Disgraceful, demeaning, disrespectful and unprofessional. This is how Book-a-Flat treated us. Do yourself a favor, if you're a foreigner, find someone else to work with.

True, their commissions seem somewhat lower than the rest, but then comes the cheap treatment.

We contacted this agency to help us find a nice apartment for rent in Paris. Staff were rude and unhelpful, their attitude was demeaning, and they finally told us, quite shamelessly, to take our business elsewhere.

Starting with their refusal to take a message for a staff member because "we are too busy to get back to you, so why don't you try again tomorrow", moving on to the fact that we are a foreign couple on sabbatical leave, with all the necessary funds and proof thereof, so the best they could come up with was to label us "Unemployed", and therefore unworthy on any credibility, Moving on to the disrespectful and condescending explanations we got from one employee, suggesting we're some sort of fraudulent buy-binge maniacs, and ending with their blunt invitation that we take our business elsewhere.

Lucky we found other, much more professional and respectful people to do business with.

Very bad service. I have initially requested to book an apartment through them for August in June, they said it was too early and that I had to wait (although I needed to rent for my visa). During July, I contacted them again as they asked with all the nevessary documents, and I have selected an apartment asking about the availability, unfortunately.. I have not heard from them. They completely shut me down. Very disappointed! Not helpful AT ALL!

NO transparency when you really need it. Their apartments are nice, but you will need to submit payments and sign leases, insurance forms, and so on without getting to see the apartment for more than 10 minutes. There is a completely unfair exchange of information with them.

They will give you an insanely short deadline to complete forms and submit payment, they will threaten you that the "contract is compromised" when you can't satisfy the deadline, and then they will go radio silent and leave you hanging. I came into the experience fully aware of how agencies operate in France, and still, this experience was appalling. Hopefully your landlord is good.

I had a really nice experience with book a flat. A friend of mine told me about the company then I decided to have a look at the app. I was looking for a nice place to stay in Paris and I found it. I went to the Book a Flat office’s and I was surprised by the kind girl at the reception. Then I met Elodie, and she was really efficient and quick, showing me the appartment before than I was expecting to see. And Mariana supported me with all that I needed to rent a flat. I do recommend Book a Flat for everyone, mainly due to the efficiency of its employees.

There are so many things wrong with apartment rental agencies in Paris. I have had very few good experiences (I've used three different ones). This was no exception. Many apartments listed on the site as "available" are not actually available which is fine if this was the only issue. Agency fees charged are very high and very poor value for money e.g. high fees are charged but the agent's "responsibility" stops once you have signed the rental agreement. Agents obviously don't communicate well between each other, as I was told one thing by one agent and another thing by another agent on quite a significant point which affected the duration of my contract (it was regarding the matter of the interpretation of a new law). They clearly don't brief their rental owners on appropriate behaviour or personally check the apartments before they are rented out, as the landlord I rented from was extremely unprofessional and did not rectify any issues when notified, even after constant follow-up (by the way, these issues were present before moving in). All of this on top of the fact that apartments are very over-priced. You expect to pay more for a furnished apartment rented through an agency but you also expect equivalent service and at the very least, an apartment that doesn't have multiple things broken and unclean upon move in!!

Living abroad in Dubai I was looking for a second home in Paris to feel at ease when I come to Europe for work and to avoid the short rentals which are not always fitting my requirements. Book a flat team was very professional since the beginning, easy and fast in their communications, answering all type of requirements, listening to your wishes to fit the perfect location, they are also facilitating the relationships with owners and processing the payments from abroad were secured in a very easy way. I had a very positive experience with Book-A-Flat. They helped me find a super lovely apartment in Paris. They remained calm and professional in spite of my occasional impatience and mini outbursts.

I had moments of paranoia and doubts. It was my first time renting an apartment in Paris, I was affected by some of the negative online coverage about rental agencies.
Was more used to the “right now” approach and didn’t quite understand their process/the rental process in France.

Book-A-Flat listened and helped me identified the most suitable ones for viewing. They respected my request that I had to meet the owners and arranged accordingly.

Smooth process on the agency side; things did run somewhat slowly at times, but that was mostly because of landlords who took a while to respond.

One thing I would point out: once you sign the contract, everything from there on is completely up to the landlord, and needs to be handled with him or her. Thus, there is a chance to get an unresponsive landlord, and I could see how problems may arise in that case. This would not be the agency's fault, but it is something to keep in mind. The agency is only with you during the search and signature process itself, not afterward.
