I wouldn’t bother. I booked in a tool at the the start of a week for it being needed the following week, booked and paid for then find out the store I’ve chosen to collect from no longer exists (advertised as still open on their website) so they have charge me a delivery charge! Then 4.30pm on a Friday the phone me and say that the tool is now broken and won’t be fixed until later that following week (nothing like abit of notice)! Finally told that me that I should move my work the tool is needed for, I said that one of us is a reputable business and it’s certainly not Brandon’s tool hire! Asked for a full refund and told it’ll take 4-5 working days to do so, not sure how when they take the money instantly. Bunch of crooks and time wasters

Brandon hire are extremely unorganised and unprofessional. I hired a scaffold tower of them and organised it to be picked up at a certain time. They didnt turn up on time and answer any phone calls or emails i sent them. I finally got through to them and they said they will be with me in 20 minutes. I had to go pick up my child and left the items in the front garden of the property i was working on and unfortunately some chancers stole the tower. If they turned up when they said they would then none of this would have happened. They then started threatening me and forcing me to pay way over the worth of this battered and dirty tower. threatening me with CCJs and court proceedings after I'm trying to sort out my credit to provide a good life for my family. I almost feel like they sent someone to steal the tower and charge me as thats what kind of company they are. I strongly warn people who want to hire from these scammers. they are conniving and untrustworthy. I hope nothing good comes to them. They all have a small place in hell for them. over £2000 for a scaffold tower worth £1200 at a maximum. Go fu*k yourselves Brandon hire!

The guys are Swindon are top notch. Super helpful and friendly. Refunded me when I had an issue with a faulty bit of kit and just generally helpful whenever we’ve rented from them

I've read some of the negative reviews on Trust Pilot and can only suggest you use the Maidstone, Kent branch. The service and customer experience is fantastic. The manager and his assistant are extremely helpful and will spend time sourcing the right tools for you.

Not a good company to deal with - take booking and money on line, confirm booking and then cancel without explanation. Called to find out more but they really don't seem to care. Best avoided.

I’ve never used a tool hire company before and if I use one again it won’t be this lot.

I had an incredibly disappointing experience with Brandon Tool Hire and feel compelled to share. My gardener hired a machine from them, and within the first five minutes of use, a metal mechanism snapped off. Upon inspection, it was clear that the part was rusted and worn—definitely not something that should happen so quickly if the equipment had been properly maintained.

Rather than taking responsibility for the poor condition of their machine, Brandon Tool Hire is now trying to shift the blame onto my gardener, claiming they need to “investigate” whether the machine was used correctly. It feels like an excuse to avoid owning up to their lack of servicing and upkeep of the equipment. As a result, my garden work has been left unfinished through no fault of my gardener.

My gardener even requested a replacement machine at no additional cost as a goodwill gesture, but the company is stalling and treating the issue as if it’s her fault. I’ve since contacted Trading Standards and will be taking this matter further until they resolve it with either a full refund or a replacement hire at no extra cost.

If you’re considering using Brandon Tool Hire, please think twice. Their poor customer service, questionable equipment maintenance, and lack of accountability have made this a frustrating experience. Avoid them if you want to avoid the same hassle!

Floor sander. Paid £5 for am delivery. Not in stock so 24 hours late. What?
Machine was broken- intermittent starting. Another machine turned up the following morning. Tested it- no power.
I realised as the machine was transported on a flatbed lorry in the rain it had tripped my house fuse!
The guy was phoning back that I didn’t want it?! I phoned the office guy to tell him the facts. This is Friday so now Monday for a replacement.
What company transports a giant floor sander motor, uncovered,in the rain?
Both sanders are now driving around,uncovered, in the rain back to base.

If I could give a negative score I would. 2nd Oct. My friend was returning a drill he had hired that was faulty to the Birmingham branch. I was midway replacing my clutch when my trolley jack became faulty. I was desperate to hire one so asked my friend to ask when he took the drill back. I had been on their website which didn’t list them, so was very surprised when a member of staff spoke on my friend’s phone to say they could help. He mentioned two jacks. One was too small but another (6 ton) was ideal but would need to be couriered from another branch. He said he would get it picked up that evening, do the paperwork and call me the following day. I couldn’t believe how helpful he was. However he never called. I called them and eventually got a return call. He said the courier had failed to pick it up but then said they,,, had discussed it and didn’t think it would do the job I needed. He then said if the courier picked it up that evening I would get it the following day. That was the last I heard from them. They didn’t even have the courtesy to let me know it wasn’t coming. Completely wasted two days for me. I ended up purchasing a new jack. They are definitely off my list for life.

Over 2 days late for collection . Unfortunately equipment has been stollen after that 2 days. Not recommend to use Brandon Hire to anyone. Rubbish service

Tried to hire a jet wash but their website is so rubbish it wouldnt accept the dates. Glad i came here as just read another review of the equipment i wanted to hire and its awful

BRANDON HIRE STATION AND NATIONAL HIRE DISGRACE
What a terrible experience with Brandon Hire Station Cambridge and National Hire.

I rented a petrol-powered pressure washer through National Hire, but it actually came from Brandon Hire in Cambridge (Unit 22, Clifton Road Industrial Estate,
Cambridge, CB1 7EB).

It was completely useless. The National Hire website describes it as:

The description states:
The Demon Hurricane Combi P2 is tough and robust patio cleaner, ideal for cleaning patios, decking, driveways, paths and more.

DONT HIRE THIS PRODUCT. IT IS LESS EFFECTIVE THAN A KARCHER PRESSURE WASHER YOU CAN BUY IN B&Q FOR A THIRD OF THE PRICE!

I tested it and it was spraying, showing 2,000 psi on the gauge but was clearly not shifting any dirt at all.

I had hired the product through National Hire for a week at a cost of £332 which was paid up front to clean our driveway and that of our elderly neighbours.

After a single use, I had to abandon my plans.

I noticed that National Hire doesn't accept feedback on the products it brokers hires for. Perhaps for good reason.

But the Brandon Hire Station website does. There are a lot of other complaints by other people hiring the product.

One customer stated in the feedback on the Brandon Hire Station:
"When I eventually got the petrol driven patio cleaner I found it to be useless. The main rotary cleaning head did not even remove moss. Had to use the lance instead. No better than my own pressure washer. Staff were very good dropping the unit off and explaining how to use it. Overall- total waste of money!"

I agree. The description is completely misleading.
I raised a complaint with National Hire who then told me that I could return it (which I did) but would not get a refund unless the product was faulty.

National Hire also went on to state: "I can appreciate if this is not performing on the flat surfaces either as that would be its intended use. This wouldn't be booked with a large scrub head to clean the cracks between slabs, as it says on the page "patios, decking, paving slabs, It provides a powerful cleaning solution for areas in the garden, outside the home and outside commercial premises" Primarily mentioning scenarios where the cleaning area would be large and flat. Can you advise what PSI your washer that you used to go over it with, is. as this does show as a 2200 psi, im just thinking in case its not receiving enough water to perform at full power."

This description from National Hire above carefully left out the word "driveways" which was the intended use. Weasley at best. Dishonest at worst.

I explained to National Hire that the water was being supplied fast enough to achieve 2,000 psi.

Now, having raised a complaint and returned the product early, having made the complaint within 12 hrs, you might think that National Hire and Brandon Hire Station Cambridge, would do the decent thing and refund the hire charges. Not a bit of it. They claimed that because it was working when they tested it, no refund was due.

I will never use either National Hire or Brandon Hire Station Cambridge ever again - not because the product didn't work (which can happen) but because the description is FALSE and they know that the description is FALSE and MISLEADING.
I would strongly advise anyone wishing to clean paths, drive, patios etc to just buy a Karcher with a multi-year warranty.

I will keep posting updates so that others can avoid this very costly mistake.

SHAME ON YOU NATIONAL HIRE AND BRANDON HIRE STATION CAMBRIDGE.

Why go anywhere else in Edinburgh to hire tools? Staff were great and explanation on how to use the equipment was delivered without making me feel like a fool. I'll not hesitate to share my positive experience with anyone who cares to listen so thank you Brandon Tool Hire, Sighthill.

Excellent service, delivered when they said it would ; could have done with a little more advice on erecting but instructions reasonably clear.
Collected on the day so no issues.

Hired a garden Shredder they delivered on the day we approached them about hiring. Mickey could not been more helpful. The machine was in good working order. Hired for two days. Rich delivered and demonstrate the machine and pick up on time. Very impressed with the service.

Older members of staff very helpful - younger guy was obnoxious….asked how his weekend was. When first went into store to pick up equipment - “Sh&t” came the reply.

Good equipment but could not believe the service from this staff member.

Hired a carpet cleaner from the Yeovil branch this week, guy who served me could teach customer service, very very good

Hired a log splitter today. Machine was in good condition and performed its job well. Staff ( James, Gavin and David) at the Livingston branch were kind, polite and very helpful. I shall be back when I next need to hire equipment

Hired a turf cutter. The staff where very helpful and the machine was in mint condition and did a great job. Thankyou 👍🙂

After finally putting an order in last night on a very poor and badly designed website , I was prompted to allow a payment from my bank to allow me to hire a disc cutter. I had no notification of order sent and nothing in my order history. This morning I tried to log in and my email and password was being bounced out and saying there was a problem with my account and to try again later. I phoned up the local shop in Chelmsford who had no records of the item, and was prompted to do all orders online. Finally after wasting an hour and half this morning I got back into the website, after painfully finding the item and getting round the freezing site and it not loading and bouncing out I managed to order it yet again. The order was bounced out and it advised was to try again, 4 times I've done this and now 4 payments have been taken from my account no verification at the shop for my order and nothing on my account, after phoning the national helpline number they have now I've advised I will have to order through them and wait 3-5 days for this money to be returned to my bank. This is has been a woeful experience and completely unacceptable. I would suggest everyone stay well clear of this hire company and save there time and money and use it else where. Complete joke- not fit for purpose
