I rang customer services and every option I pressed resulted in me being told they couldn’t come to the phone. I’m now regretting my online order.

As an experienced home gardener of 30 years, and occasional shopper at your Osterley West London branch, I know your products are OK but your refund policy and customer service are terrible. Your policy of 'Refund Card Only' is years behind all other retailers who know the value of good customer relations. Today after a hassle I achieved a grudging refund of £3.79 on a plant saucer. This is against your policy so I won't name the person in case you discipline them. Moreover compared to other garden centres you clearly invest nothing in plant training because your staff knowledge of plants is almost non existent. You get good trade because the better garden centre, Hilliers, is 10 minutes' drive on the other side of the A4 so people from your area don't think to go there. You also now have the advantage that the nearby Homebase garden centre has closed. So because you get good trade you do not need to improve or care about customer relations - but I only buy from you if I have no alternative - or if I am absolutely certain I've made the right choice. I always go to Hilliers Syon Park first, usually buy there and enjoy the experience - whereas coming to you is a mere necessity.

Thatcham Garden Centre displayed the wrong sign on some plants that I wanted to purchase. Through no fault of my own this led to a scenario at the checkout which left me feeling belittled and humiliated. One of the employees told me I was 'a horrible person'.

I sent a detailed report to your customer services with names of the offensive employees detailed. It has been ignored.

The "Human Touch" when things go wrong. Despite our furniture arriving on time, when unpacked, one of the items was damaged. Spoke with "Nic" who dealt with this efficiently and with kindness - Thank You !

visited the Havant branch on 6th April. asked for borage and the lady said it had not come in. Asked her what it looked like and she shrugged her shoulders and said ‘I don’t know’. So how did she know it had not come in? Asked the manager for monada (bee balm). He had no idea what it was and made no attempt to look it up. Said ‘we get plants in all the time’ Either employee someone who knows or is at least interested in plants or stick to selling t towels! This visit was my last sadly

Visited the Gosforth Park garden centre on 12/4 25 . Popped into the cafe / restaurant for a bottle of water , a toasted sandwich for myself and a jacket potatoe for my husband . After a 20 minute wait I had to go chasing my order . Not even started according to the young lad behind the counter . The manageress processing my refund was quite rude and blasé in her attitude . She needs some customer service training in my opinion . She informed me a 20 minute wait was standard in there so I had the information for next time . There won’t be a next time . Sort yourselves out Gosforth Garden centre cafe . Your service is awful , your organisation is dire and your manager needs some training . Staff wandering round with plates of hot food looking for tables as orders had been processed without a table number . Beware people who don’t have time to just sit and wait all day .

Poor customer service.
I've been to a few different ones. My local one in Bolton is generally great. However attended the Lytham St Annes one and encountered 2 seperate issues with no resolution. I contacted customer services to give them a change to resolve this and the attitude I received was 'what do you want me to do about it?'. Eventually agreed to refund me what they'd overcharged but then never followed through. Awful customer service, really put me off returning to that store.

Visited the Rugby garden centre for the second time today the first being the opening day when everything was perfect, all bells and whistles, but today just two weeks later it was terrible, the plant gifts for Mother’s Day were in a poor condition looking very sad and bedraggled, decided to have lunch in the restaurant, this was a BIG mistake hot drinks arrived promptly, 1 of the children chose the lunch bag, had to eat the food in reverse and we waited for over an hour for the hot food to arrive which included the jam sandwich for the lunch bag which had gone dry, the order also included brown ciabatta rolls, received white the filling needed a magnifying glass to see it particularly the pork, one of the orders was a child’s cheese burger and chips which was dry and only about six chips on the plate. As by now we were very hungry we could not be bothered to complain, I do think the restaurant is far to big, no cutlery available, glassware murky, plenty of staff but run ragged. We then visited the outdoor furniture area which is covered with artificial grass to our horror two customers with dogs allowed them to urinate against a table leg and on to the grass, why, can you not have a policy that all people who bring in dogs carry a spray bottle with anti bacterial water in, like the do abroad to clear up the mess. Have given one star for the friendly staff, though very few on the shop floor and the poor hardworking waiting staff in the restaurant. Will not be returning. Thought Dobbies was bad but they are A1 in comparison.

Don’t bother trying to get a sandwich and cup of tea between 1100 and 1130 They don’t serve any food

Restaurant supervisor told us we could not have our small, nervous dog on our knee. The dog was not touching furniture, she’s too small. The supervisor was unable to provide a reason beyond “it’s the rules”. We were in the dog section at the time. This area is cold, the seating is cramped and there are old crumbs under the glass table tops - a much likelier source of microbes than a dog kept well away from the table.

Excellent plants and are growing well, however the administration of orders is poor !! As for the third time I have had to chase their order department for taking money from my account twice for the same order, this having promised it will be refunded within five days. Latest contact with company ten days ago !!!!!

Very happy and will purchase again online from BGC

Easy online purchase and good young root single stalk privet plants delivered quickly. New plants look very good, with plenty of new shoots that will hopefully burst into life soon.
