This is about my recent experience, it is my only experience hitherto and it will be my last. I ordered a lamp as a gift before Christmas last year. The money was taken from my account within a week. Every month since I have received a standardised email saying the order has been delayed. When I objected to this treatment, I received a personalised mail offering to refund the money and cancel the order. Today I received another mail saying the item is not expected before next month - six months after the original order. There is, moreover, no guarantee that when the end of June rolls around that I will receive my lamp. I can understand supply chains and the present unusual circumstances but those had come into being some nine months before I placed my order. If there is any doubt whatsoever that a contract cannot be fulfilled, I would expect to be told so immediately and certainly before any money is taken. I could then have taken steps to look for another gift, it is now five months down the line. What angered me most was the repeated 'cut and paste' notifications - that's not customer 'service' that is unprofessional and reprehensible.

Ordered a loo roll holder, very prompt dispatch, item arrived within 48hours of order, was exactly as described.

ordered 2 lights, on confirmation email was delivery up to 1 week, but after 2 weeks waiting I sent email asking about my delivery and they replayed that delivery will be not early than end of June. They informed me only because I asked. But on website that lights even now delivery up to 1 week.

We purchased three skeleton bow latches with brass knobs. We received them very quickly, well packaged and lovely items. Very good quality and definitely look the part. Thank you Broughtons.

Ordered 4x wall vents, excellent quality, quick delivery and excellent customer service. I realised some screws were missing and contacted them, they posted them out straightaway. Highly recommended.

We bought a ceiling light, expecting it to be British made, as many of the products this company sell, however to our enormous disappointment, it was made in China. Apparently the lighting is provided by another company, who are British manufacturers and distributors. This means the products can be from a total unknown source. Their fitting instructions were useless, and the design made it almost impossible to fit. It looked like the manufacturer had no idea of what the bits were for, or where they were going. We couldn't face the process of returning it, so we kept it, and, after hours of working on it, we manage to hang it, but we were very disappointed that something so simple turned out to be a nightmare

I have just bought a lot of combinations of door handles and latches from Broughtons as they are one of the few suppliers of bakelite handles. All of the products I have ordered have been excellent quality and competitively priced. Their bakelite collection is really excellent. Buying handles and locks for old doors has been quite confusing and I have used various suppliers and made quite a few mistakes. Broughtons has accepted and processed returns very quickly and efficiently. I haven't given them 5 stars as - for a novice - I think their product info could be more detailed as you can't expect the staff to know the exact measurements of each specific item!

Company took payment via PayPal before quoting freight cost which was greater than the cost of the goods!!
£200 shipping cost is not realistic for a lamp.

Polite and friendly staff on the end of the phone. Best customer service I've ever had on the web. And the product - bakelite art deco door handles were beautiful. I'd love to think of something else to order from them!

Great customer service, a couple of items out of stock, kept me updated and requested payment once they were ready to dispatch.
