Brownstone Research is a boutique investment research firm that consistently delivers insights and profitable investment recommendations to its subscribers. For too long, the best investment research has not been available to individual investors. It has been typically reserved for investment banks, hedge funds, private equity, and high-net-worth clients. The mission of Brownstone Research is to make that kind of proprietary research available to any investors looking to gain an edge in the markets. The goal is simple… to deliver unique and profitable investment research found nowhere else.

I lost hundreds of thousands of dollars based on Jeff Browns recommendations. . Why do we not get together as a group and file a class action lawsuit against him .

Brownstone Research, in particular Exponential Tech iInvestor, is a fraud. They have reports about stocks that are over a year old, so they are obviously not current. Furthermore, their no refund policy is ridiculous - they offer you a "credit" for another entity in the Legacy Reseach Group but they are all in bed together. It is really shady...DO NOT BOTHER!

Changed editors for Exponential Tech Investor during my subscription. I was sold on Jeff Brown being the expert providing the insight and recommendations. He was fired as his recommendations were poor and replaced with someone I never heard of. I requested a prorated refund but they only offer to extend the subscription. Terrible experience. I would not recommend anyone subscribe to any of their worthless newsletters!

Disastrous experience totally misled, especially within the biotech sector about the scope for returns. Lost many many tens of thousands and the company walked away from the services by simply closing the positions without any analysis or guidance - they simply abdicated their responsibility. No responses to queries, shameful and disgraceful service and I would never ever suggest anyone follows either Brownstone or the disappearing Jeff Brown. Fastest way to lose your money.

I lost tens of thousands of dollars with my membership. I even paid $4000 for the unlimited memberhip but couldn't handle even one more recommendation from Jeff Brown. After one year they wanted me to pay a fee to continue reading their research reports. I called them to see if they would waive the yearly fee for the next year. They said I had to pay for the next year and they would give me the following year for free along with my unlimited membership. I said goodbye to them at that point. At least I was able to write off the fees I paid as I was a licensed series 7 broker at the time.

Per your request send you my email is not allowed in these reviews. Your response provides no address for me to send my email. More foo pa from Brownstone research. You have my name Jerald Wilks Why can't you find my account?
I invested thousands of dollars with Brownstone Research. Not one stack made me money over the last 2 1/2 years. A couple of the companies recommended stock price dropped to zero, many many more sustained losses in the 45 to 85% area . As bad, he apparently was fired from Brownstone Research by the parent company that owns them. A couple of months ago He literally disappeared from his company with no word or explanation. He’s been replaced by some person unknown to me. Do not invest in this company or any other company associated with Jeff Brown.

I need to cancel my credit card because they automatically charge it after I subscribe for a promo. They claimed they send an email and I did not reply so they charge my card. Legally "no reply" means NO. Except for scammers like this company.
BEWARE AGAIN!! I am getting emails from this company again ( 9/18/2023). Their scam is active - PROMO emails - big discount. THIS IS A SCAM.

If I could give zero stars, I would. These people keep trying to change my card $129 and claim I signed up for something. The email address they give where they say they notified me in advance is "membershipservices@brownstoneresearch". When I tell them there are no emails in my inbox nor spam folder from that email address, they say it much be from another email address that they cannot give me (amazing). They say that "as a favor" they will submit a request to give me a partial refund. They way they are under no obligation to give me a time when they will get back to me. So they stole $129 AGAIN and they are claiming they only need to give part of it back even though I reached out to them as soon as I saw the charge on my credit card. They charged me on June 12, 2023 and I reached out to them on July 24, 2023. They tried to rip me off in 2021. I told them to remove me from everything then and leave me alone. Now they think they can steal my money again in 2023. I want everyone to know these people are the epitome of white-collar crime, but I will not let them get away with it. Steve, 714-803-3089.

I am disappointed in Jeff Brown. He has no morals. He for a better lack of words stole money in subscriber cost as his advice was beyond horrible. He knew that he was leaving and should have forewarn subscribers so investors could have cashed out his miserable "paid" advice. I hope Colin has the ability to turn this around. He seems to have a better nexus on business. First thing he should do is change the name from "Brownstone" to "Anything else stone".
I have written several times to this service and never received a reply.

After a year of gains following Jeff Brown's investment advice through Bonner & Partners back in 2019, I moved into 2020 feeling hooked on his advice and later upgraded my subscription to his lifetime membership program with Brownstone Research which cost $5,000 plus the annual maintenance fees. I went all in. I was selling off a lot of stable and reliable stocks that weren't making big gains to reinvest a large part of our portfolio under Jeff's recommendations. Sadly, we have taken huge losses ever since! I understand the market has been extremely volatile and underperforming as a whole the last few years, but the vast majority of Jeff's recommendations have been terrible investments (many at 60-100% losses) and our portfolio is down about $100k because of his recommendations. This is so devastating! I've been hoping that some of these stocks would recover at some point, but now Jeff Brown has left Brownstone Research and I, like so many others, feel I've been left holding the bag and totally scammed by this CHARLATAN! Our retirement portfolio has been irreversibly damaged while Jeff Brown skates off with all the subscription monies so many people so foolishly handed over to him. Don't waste your time or money on this type of service!

I invested $5000 for 5 years into Jeff’s Brown “Day One investor” subscription and close to $2000 for 2 years for the "Exponential Tech Investor"…
Did I make money? NO. I lost… thousands.
Then a couple of weeks ago I received an email from the Brownstone Research that Jeff Brown left the company and they have a new editor.
I didn’t sign up for their new editor subscription! And it’s NOT my problem that they had an internal company issue when Jeff left.
When I requested a refund for the UNUSED time of the subscription (it came out to about $4,000 in total), they, at first, offered me a prorated CREDIT toward other subscription, then they changed their mind and offered $1500 CREDIT toward their subscription (without rationale for the credit amount).
This company does not operate with integrity!
After several attempts to deal with them, I realized that I was scammed and decided to cut my losses, write this review, file a complaint with the BBB, and move on.
Just notice how they respond to people grievances... They REALLY do not care about their customers!
If you, Brownstone Research, do NOT deliver what you promised/marketed, why do you REFUSE to make good by your customers and refund the unused portion of the subscription I originally signed up for?
STAY AWAY from the Brownstone Research and their parent publishing company Legacy Research – they are scammers!!

In 2020 I purchased a membership with Brownstone Research. Jeff Brown's portfolio advice in particular. I do not recommend allowing this man to advise you at any time. My portfolio has done nothing but lose value and he has jumped ship. He talks about his expertise and other gains, unfortunately I have only lost money. Stay away from Brownstone Research. Now that Jeff has exited they bombard my email with other advisors videos and advertisements. At this point I can only cut my losses. I am retirement age and his portfolio advice has devastated my future! Beware!

Update to my initial review:
Brownstone Research has solved the problem that they created by refunding me (based upon my specific request) $200, which is the difference between what I actually paid for a 'Lifetime' subscription and what I would have paid for three years of regular subscription service. To me, this is a fair resolution given that they delivered only two years and ten months of the service that I bought with Jeff Brown as editor. I will add, however, that this resolution was reached only after I contacted them MANY times, then posted here on Trustpilot as well as filed a complaint with Florida's Better Business Bureau. While I appreciate that they did the right thing in the end, they should have resolved this issue directly upon my first contact, rather than repeatedly denying my fair request and requiring a time consuming (one month plus) escalation.
Following is my initial review: Buyer Beware! Brownstone Research and their publisher Legacy Research can and will rip you off. I paid $299 for a ”Lifetime Subscription” to Jeff Brown’s Near Future Report followed by two consecutive years’ $24 ($48 total) maintenance fee. $347 out of pocket for two years and ten months of delivery. When they notified me that Jeff Brown had been booted out, effectively immediately, I wrote to customer service and requested at least a partial refund for the Lifetime Subscription that they decided, without notice, to stop delivering. They first said no. Then they said they would try to get $24 refunded, and that they’d get back to me on whether or not a $24 refund was approved. And then, they not only did NOT get back to me, but they’re also not answering my emails or my phone calls. This run around started nearly three weeks ago. If I had just paid the regular annual fee for the Near Future Report for three years, it would have cost me $147 ($49 x 3 years) So they’ve effectively ripped me off for $200 and are choosing to blow me off and ignore my request for a fair solution to the problem that they themselves created. Dubious if not outright fraudulent marketing. I will now contact the Better Business Bureau in Florida and/or California to file a complaint. Scammers and frauds. If you do NOT deliver what you promised/marketed, why do you REFUSE to make good by your customers and refund the unused portion of a Lifetime Subscription you decided to stop?

Unless you have a lot of money stay away. I was very new to Investing In December 2020 when I listened to Jeff's pitch for the first time. I really wanted a foot In the door at 69 years old confused about toilet paper, food supply, thinking I was going to die from a new virus that kept me at home but Instead lost what little I had saved over time.

Save yourself tens of thousands of dollars by avoiding this service! I spent over $5000 for the lifetime program, but lost much more than that in poor investments. Tens of thousands of dollars lost. Jeff Brown is very verbose but his investment advice is terrible. He was happy to take my $5000 and become a very wealthy man. I spent over $5000 for the “lifetime” premium program, but lost much more than that in poor investments. Tens of thousands of dollars lost. Every service was a massive loss. Jeff Brown is very verbose but his investment advice is terrible. He was happy to take my $5000 and become a very wealthy man but is not willing to give a refund when he jumped ship and moved on to find other suckers for his next “premium investment service”.
Don’t listen to him when he tells you he is a successful angel investor or has multiple degrees. He is great at selling himself and his services but the recommendations have cost me a fortune.
Brownstone should compensate the subscribers by refunding our investment for lifetime subscriptions.
We are left holding the bag and they get to keep our money.
I’m sure Jeff Brown could afford it!
Very disappointed!!

I have been a subscriber for over 5 years. This man couldn’t pick his nose let alone a good stock pick. He has promoted many (4 in the last 2 years) different research services. He will give these long drawn out presentations to get you hooked with a 100 examples of how much people have made,or could make, in the sector he’s promoting. I assure you you will not be one of those people. He will then take your money for the service (most of the time over 2k A YEAR!! for the “premium” services) and provide near nothing in return. He will write these extreme elaborate write ups for all his stock (or private investment) picks that will ultimately fail. In these write ups he will continually tell you things will get better until things have got beyond the point of no return then he will reverse course when it’s to late. By the. Everything is deprecated, he will start selling and “taking loses”. Of course he does not invest in anything he recommends because he’s such a class guy when in reality he has stole millions of dollars from people thinking he knew something. He always makes these claims “we” are going to sell for a loss. There’s no we, there’s no our, there’s me, and my money(and any other poor sole who bought his bs) flushed down the toilet. He heavily promoted 2 research services (early stage trader and a SPAC service) and charged a lot of money for them. With the exception of a few, every pick has failed miserably. Both portfolios were so bad and EVERYTHING he recommended was down so heavily he “got rid of them” and combined then with his other services. For every claim he makes about a positive return, he has 15-20 recommendations that have lost anyone who followed his advice anywhere between 60%-95% of their investment. All of a sudden he has everyone’s money and in the last year he has done zero promotions about any of his services. It’s because NONE of them are doing good. If you do your research there is absolutely NOTHING to credit this guy for anything he has done. If you wish to follow his advice that’s your prerogative but when you have lost most or all of your money because of him don’t say you weren’t warned. I beg you all to tell EVERYONE you know so other people don’t have to loose tens of thousands of hard earned dollars to someone who thinks they know something about investing , but don’t. Most people like myself don’t have a-lot to begin with then this joke of an “investment advisor” takes what you have left.

Awful. As many have mentioned they had a decent 2020 when everything was rising but have horrific results since then. 85% losses are normal for them. No idea of when to exit or even enter positions. Note they are often not investing in what they are recommending so have no urgency in positions falling in value. In addition to this they will sell your data to third party companies so you will be bombarded with spam until you delete your email address. To top it off they will even continue to attempt to bill you once you have requested to cancel the service.

Reply from Brownstone Research
Dont pay them, they take your money for a very bad service plus they sell your data. Criminal. They are making fortune by cheating everybody, including me.

Just read Jeff was worth $27.5 million. That probably represents all the money he has lost for his clients. 56% 1⭐ is probably low. Worst investment advice ever. He makes it sound like your stocks will only grow. My overall account (Exponential Tech Investor) is down over 80%. Homology (Fixx) was a home run by Jeff and is down 92%. I think Jeff succeeded up to 2020 but since then has recommenfded losers only. That is the sign of nor a good investor but a lucky one. Now his luck he as run out and he has failed his investor clients. On top of that his customer service people are the worst. They absolutely violated their own guarantee on me when I subscribed for 2 years and one day later offered a lifetime subscription with people like me (current subscription holders of two services). Their 90 day guarantee to me was denied after I, not them, made repeated requests for this. That is the sign of bad service. So, yes, run for the hills if Jeff calls. He is the worst.

Reply from Brownstone Research
I canceled my subscription last year after not being satisfied with the products. I haven’t received an email in a year however, Brownstone took out a ridiculous annual fee for products I no longer get. How is possible that the advice and services do help you generate income but the still feel entitled to take funds for a cancelled service.
