Our stay at Fort Cambridge Apartments

We stayed in one of the Fort Cambridge, Sliema apartments in Sliema and we were extremely happy. Very clean, well equipped and excellent service from the Buena Vista team!

I'm leaving this review for future guests

I'm leaving this review for future guests; don't book with them. Terrible stay.
The only available flight at this time lands after midnight, and despite notifying them well in advance, we were forced to pay €35.00 for late check-in, even though the apartment was empty for the entire first day except for the night, so there were no costs for electricity, water, etc.The apartment, as shown in the photos, doesn't look all that nice. It faced another building on one side and a courtyard at the back with no pleasant view. The furniture in the bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom was worn, some broken. A balcony window had a broken lock that couldn't be closed. There were cockroaches and the mattresses were uncomfortable. On the day of departure we asked if it was possible to leave the apartment a little later, since the plane was in the evening, and even there no kindness was granted, they offered us a fee to leave our luggage in their office obviously asking for more money when this service everywhere I have been up to now is free, shame on you, you are just mercenaries thirsty for money never from you again!!!!!!!!

Wish you could give lower than 1 star

It's hard to describe quite how awful our stay was. The apartment itself wa a good size and seemed ok initially, but ours was riddled with damp and everything seemed slightly damaged and shabby - broken cupboards, kitchen units that had been made out of spares and leftovers, furniture that was falling apart and broken, and all of the beds were incredibly uncomfortable - so much so that we had to request extra duvets to put on top of the mattresses to try and make them more bearable. We found cockroaches, had cabinet doors fall off at the hinges, all pretty terrible in general but you can try and look past that.

What we couldn't ignore was the fact that the hotel is clearly not intended for families - it's full of students and partying groups who made loud noise late into the night and then continued it in the early hours of the morning when they got back. We had constant issues with this throughout the stay, and barely slept because of it. There was drug taking going on, and we had litter, food, cigarettes and even an entire ashtray at one point dropped onto our terrace from above. After complaining repeatedly, the hotel eventually suggested we could move to a different room, that was still very close to the noisy guests above us but they would not move them, or make them leave despite everything! This would also have required us to lose the terrace area we had and swap it for a small balcony instead, so hardly ideal!

Buena Vista Holidays refused any kind of refund or compensation and just left us to get on with it, I cannot stress strongly enough how much I would encourage you NOT to book any kind of trip or holiday with them, they offer very poor quality products and services, and then will just ignore you and run off with your money when you realise things are not ok, avoid as if your life depends on it as our holiday was completely and utterly ruined and they just let it happen, disgraceful!

Cancelled our hotel days before arrival

We booked our stay in Malta several months in advance, but here just two days before arrival, they will us to cancel our booking as "the pool is leaking" so our apartment is not available anyway.
Such a bs!
Not a trustworthy company so stay away and book your stay somewhere else. Or now you know how they scam people.

Non client friendly

Every time someone else who answers you, they don’t even look to the history of messages. They are not at all client friendly, not of excuses in standard answers but no actions. We checked upon booking if pool would be finished and if we could use it during our stay. This was confirmed, but in the end we could use it only one day during our stay. They were not willing to compensate for this, it was my own fault since I booked without pool (although I checked it during my booking and they confirmed). I felt like they attractie people to book with false statements. I asked for other stay but they said everything was fully booked, while I found 8 different options for Buena Vista stays. Then someone else said never possible to reallocate. Seems like not willing to help and lying to customer. In the end the pool was even one day earlier ready, but they did not notify me, although several asks for updates. Only after checklist again myself, I received the code to enter the pool. Once again I asked for a refund, but then they said I overlooked the opening date. While this was not mentioned when I booked, not even checking when I booked. Buena Vista is not client friendly, and I had to propose possible solutions, but they were not willing to help me. Really bad service

ABYSMAL CUSTOMER SERVICE, DISHONEST FEES, UNSAFE PROPERTY

This review is intended for anyone considering booking an apartment with Buena Vista Holidays in Malta — but even more so for property owners thinking of using Buena Vista as a property manager. Avoid them at all costs.

Buena Vista claims to manage a large portfolio of rentals and boasts a team of 50+ people on their website. Based on our experience, they are entirely incapable of managing either properties or staff. Over the span of just a few days, my wife and I communicated with nine different agents — nearly 20% of their entire team — none of whom seemed to know what the others were doing. This is not a business; it’s a disorganized, misleading operation.

We booked an apartment for our one-year anniversary. What should have been a relaxing vacation turned into a nightmare. The listing looked great online but was riddled with serious issues the moment we arrived:

- The elevator jammed partially open upon our arrival. With luggage in hand, we barely squeezed out. If we had mobility issues, we wouldn’t have made it out at all.
- The toilet was broken and leaking, with staff telling us this was a "known quirk."
- The balcony door wouldn’t shut properly, letting in constant street noise.
- Worst of all, the electricity shorted out when using the kettle. The host had plugged high-voltage appliances into improper converters, posing a clear fire risk.

We informed them we were leaving after just one night of our three-night stay. From that point, things only got worse.

Despite clearly vacating the apartment and offering to return the keys, Buena Vista agents harassed us relentlessly. One agent messaged us as early as 6:50 AM asking when they could send a maintenance worker — as if we were responsible for fixing their broken unit. We were then told we needed to return the keys by 11:00 AM, despite being 20 km away and having already coordinated a drop-off at our new hotel. We were told a driver could retrieve the keys for a €20 reduction from our promised refund, which we agreed to.

The key was picked up — confirmed by the front desk staff and CCTV footage — yet Buena Vista either lied or failed to communicate internally, even after five hours had passed. They claimed they never received the key and used that as an excuse to withhold our refund. When we pushed back, they attempted to charge another €20, falsely claiming we hadn’t paid the Eco Tax — even though we had paid the driver at check-in (and have the Airbnb chat to prove it). They also deleted and changed previously quoted prices for services like luggage storage mid-conversation in the Airbnb app — an extremely dishonest practice.

The most disturbing part was how multiple agents gaslighted us, ignored evidence, contradicted one another, and delayed communication in order to avoid issuing the refund they had already promised. Even after confirming the key had been picked up and that a refund would be processed, we received nothing. Only after escalating the issue to Airbnb directly did we receive a partial refund — which in no way compensates for the stress, dishonesty, and harassment we endured.

If you’re a traveler, do not book with Buena Vista Holidays. And if you’re a property owner considering them as your management company — ask yourself if this is the type of operation you want representing your investment. Unprofessional, unethical, and entirely unaccountable.

Grim apartment

We booked an apartment through booking.com as they were advertising apartments from Buena vista. Unfortunately when we arrived in Malta the driver who met us at the airport took us to the Sir William Reid apartments. But these apartments were nothing like the photos or description on the advert Buena vista provided to booking.com
The photos showed glass balconies and a roof terrace over looking the sea front. But the apartments were in a dingy side street named as Sir William Reid.
I can only say this can only be described as false advertising.
We had numerous issues with the flat.
Shower cubicle being replaced then the glass broke. Floors not cleaned properly even after cleaner bhad returned to mop floor with a dirty mop. We went out and bought cleaning products and mopped the floor ourselves. Only to discover there were still slivers of glass in the floor. Noise from flat above was horrendous as was noise from street. No sound proofing in flat. Went to cook breakfast only to discover no gas.
No towels as mainly guys had used them to wipe floor when fitting new cubicle.
Shower cubicle leaked.
All the above were reported on numerous occasions via WhatsApp and emails.
Eventually most things were rectified, but it. Certainly put a damper on our holiday that we moved into a hotel.
Can only say be careful if you use the above company as on this occasion it is clearly false advertising.
I will now be trying to get compensation from booking.com and Buena vista holidays but I won't hold my breath.
