Looking at 3,637 reviews, reviewers overwhelmingly had a great experience with this company. People frequently mention that the receptionists and clinical teams are exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and genuinely skilled at putting nervous patients completely at ease during every single appointment. Customers also deeply appreciate the professional dentists who consistently take extra time to explain procedures thoroughly, ensuring that all treatments remain as comfortable and painless as possible. However, some customers also noted ongoing frustrations regarding health insurance policies, unexpected financial costs, and severe difficulties when trying to access NHS appointments. A small group of reviewers experienced frustrating communication issues, unhelpful staff responses, and poor support from management when attempting to resolve important complaints.

Top service

The main reason I'd recommend Fort William Specialist Dental Clinic is the caring, professional approach. They talked me through everything, kept me calm, and made the visit a lot less stressful, which really matters when I'm someone who usually feels anxious at the dentist.

Pleasant reception staff

Pleasant reception staff. No waiting and in on time. Dental nurse made me feel very relaxed, and my dentist Li Weiduo is brilliant. Explains everything to me and is very reassuring. Couldn’t wish for a better dental practice.

The former Iosis now Bupa dentist on…

The former Iosis now Bupa dentist on Southgate/at cross road is a really nice place to get your teeth done.

The reception staff are friendly, helpful and really do care as dose Kristan the dentist and his aide.

I had an medical/mental issue while after I was seen and they really went out of their way to help me,

They treat NHS patients well there and I have never felt rushed or in the way.

I'm autistic and the place is rarely uncomfortable (reception), the lights are stable (no fluorescent flickering), the area is usually quiet, the temperature is ok even in a heat wave. There's the usual clinical smell is barely noticeable.

The consulting room is the same, with only the chair light (so the dentist can see inside your mouth) being really bright.

Things to note- some of the stuff they use can taste weird but they are ok if you feel it's too much, just talk.

This is one of the best dentists I've been too, friendly, caring , approachable and helpful if you have any issues or concerns.

I would strongly recommend them for either NHS or private teeth care.

Thank you

Terrible service

Terrible service.

I am attaching below a complaint which I sent to my practice on July 29th and still have no acknowledgement. I have already emailed the complaint team again heard nothing. Ive had to pay privately for a further consultation and prescription due to the pain I am in with the infection returning.

I am writing to unfortunately raise a formal complaint regarding my recent experience with the branch, which I believe contradicts NHS guidelines in line with patient care.

On 17th July (Friday) I began to experience moderate toothache, causing me to call and email the practice outside of hours. There is NO information on the voicememail suggesting what to do in an emergency which the BUPA website states it would.
I complete the NHS 111 form and am advised to seek an appointment at the next working day.

Monday 20th - As soon as the practice opens I begin to call. There is no answer, the line rings and I am placed on hold multiple times before the line cuts dead. This continues for an hour.
I then drive down to the practice and explain this.
I'm told my dentist is off on Mondays and I could have an appointment tomorrow.
When I decline this and say I have been unable to eat or sleep I am offered one with a different dentist at 2pm which I accept.

Monday 20th at 2pm. I attend my appointment and am prescribed antibiotics for suspected infection in the root of my wisdom tooth and told that once this 5 day course is complete I should attend for an extraction.
I explain to the dentist that I have been unable to eat or sleep and had accidentally exceeded the amount of pain relief I was able to take as the pain was that bad.
She said the extraction could only take place once the infection was dealt with which I understand.

When the appointment was over I went back downstairs and explained this to reception.
I was told that as I had seen a different dentist to my own they needed to send her a message as usually an extraction requires an appointment or check up before it takes place. This seems bizarre considering I had just left an appointment and my last check up was in April.

I missed a call at 5.30pm and rang back immediately with no answer. All week I rang with no response trying to get an appointment.

Thursday 23rd - emailed asking for an extraction date (no response)

Friday 24th - rang again all day, on my lunch left a voice mail explaining I had tried to make contact and could they book me any appointment the following week as I would finish my antibiotics the next day (hear nothing)

Saturday 25th - take the last of the antibiotics

Saturday 25th - email Bupa head office explaining the situation and my dissatisfaction. Hear nothing.

Tuesday 28th - 4.46pm
Eventually receive a call to book in for an extraction and am offered 18th August. I explain that I am still in pain and unable to eat. Am told that they are sorry but they are short staffed.
I then go on to explain all of the above and am told again they are sorry but they are short staffed and thats the appointment they have next.

This is over a month since I made initial contact. As you can see it is 4.11am and I am awake in pain with my tooth.
I do not consider it acceptable to be left for all that time in pain and with my eating and sleeping affected, which goes against the NHS guidelines for patient care.
I understand the practice serves private patients, however I am still an NHS patient and firmly believe my experience falls below the standard I should reasonably expect.

It is also important to add that in the 20 years plus that I have attended the setting whilst I have experienced service that hadn't always been up to standard, this is the first time I have lodged an official complaint.
What I am saying here is that I accept and understand that as a service you are stretched and you have my full sympathy and patience with this.
However on this occasion I feel it borders on patient neglect and is not acceptable.
Colleagues and friends I have spoken to have all been shocked at the way I have been treated and therefore this confirms my belief to me that this is not a standard way to deal with a patient.

Wow Bupa dentist Deysbrook lane West Derby Liverpool. Thank you so much for this morning fitting me in for an emergency appointment within half an hour. The service, dentist and staff are the best on the planet. I am smiling at everyone again now I have my crown put back. I have been so stressed for the last couple of days without my front crown and not being able to get a dentist. The care and attention from you all has given me my smile back. I hope you all get to see this and how much I appreciate you all. I would recommend you to anyone Cheers guys x
