Zone 8

Zone 8 , received tomato plants today. 1 plant had no leaves, the other 5 were spindley and leaves falling off.
I will not order from them again

Shipping Policies pathetic

Burpee shipping policies are neither well documented nor do they abide by what they have published. They say that "All orders are shipped within 14 business days of zone opening." However after weeks waiting for my order to ship, a customer service rep said they ship according to when orders were placed and as of today, which is beyond the 14 days after zone opening - they are still processing orders a full month older than mine. Their site also has my location in the wrong zone. Customer service's response was basically, "tough s**t." All this in days where most companies offer "free shipping" - and I paid $12 for shipping 50 strawberry plants. PATHETIC

Bought several PLANTS and seed packets

Bought several PLANTS and seed packets

Just received my first plant package. These are NOT plants, they're barely seedlings and are half dead.
I ordered plants not whatever I just got in the mail. I don't know if they're even worth planting. They look absolutely terrible. Will never order again, second year I've been totally let down. Wish I could attach pictures. Waste of time and money

damaged product

One of two plants came dead, dry, out of box, soil fell out. Customer service is not helpful; they didn't reply anything to submitted ticket. After calling customer service number I've got the answer, that they pretty much cannot not do anything about it.

Tiny scraggly plant…

Ordered a honeysuckle and received a scraggly tiny plant with few leaves and those looking crumpled and sad. Reached out and was told it was normal for a plant coming out of dormancy. I would never pay what I did for such a sad looking plant from a nursery. Was very disappointed in both the plant and Burpee. Will not buy from them again but will stick with the few online nurseries who send healthy, strong plants and have never sent me one in such a sad condition.

Wow ..

Wow .., I order a jumbo amaryllis bulb and I got one..35.5 cm circumference! I’ve ordered other jumbos that measured 25cm.? I was pleasantly surprised. A company that delivered what they posted. I’ve been so disappointed in the past. Well done Burpee.👍

Outstanding customer service!

I recently (incorrectly) thought that Burpee had sent me the wrong corn seeds because when it ripened, it wasn't the Ambrosia I ordered. I complained to Burpee and they immediately apologized and sent me a check for the purchase price, plus shipping. Then, upon checking my second corn planting I realized the error was mine and that I had planted a different corn for the first planting (not Burpee's) and had forgotten I'd done that. (I've apologized to Burpee and returned their check.) Burpee's immediate response to correct an error, without even questioning who was at fault, could not have been any better and I will continue to order seeds from them.

Seed packets contain mishmash of seeds, can't be certified organic

Ordered Heirloom Organic Beefsteak tomatoes from Burpee, started them indoors and planted in June. Come July, there isn't a Beefsteak anywhere. The plants were producing cherry tomatoes, orange colored tomatoes, and some other small variety. I lost the entire growing season. There will be no tomatoes put up for sauce this year, a major setback for my food supply. It was as though Burpee employees swept the floor and put the seeds in an envelope marked organic. Burpee only refunded the cost of the seed packet and shipping cost. Never again!

They don't send what you order

I purchased packs of peppers (jalapeno, carnival, and poblano) from Burpee. None of the seeds are what they were advertised as. This was a waste of money, time, electricity, garden space, water, and nutrients. When I confronted Burpee about this widely known issue they responded by removing my reviews that called them out for this problem. I would recommend you use local suppliers or more reputable ones because Burpee will not make good on mistakes that they, or their suppliers whom they should have vetted, make.

Not "A Full Dinner" For Our Bees

We ordered and planted "A Full dinner for our bees" Creme Brulee sunflowers with the expectation that it would attract bees. Bees don't seem to be interested in them although they grew and bloomed nicely. Bush style sunflowers bought locally are MUCH better bee attracter.

bean seeds

I purchased a pkg. of "bush Blue Lake beans " this spring and they are the worst beans I have grown in 50 years. They were very stringy and they had the flat Italian beans mixed in with them. and they were young beans when I picked them. I think there was a third type in the pkg., because the "blue Lake beans were nice, but there was a similar looking bean that was stringy.

I have grown food all my life

I have grown food all my life, mostly from seed, and NEVER EVER had an issue. Burpee was always my go to in the past. This year, 2023, what a total disaster. I am so far behind, many of my crops will never happen.

Watermelon, first pack, ZERO, bought a second pack, ZERO! Green squash, 10% germination, yellow squash 15%, cucumbers 42 planting, 6 germinated.

EVERYTHING except radish and tomatoes were super poor performers. All had 2023 dates, none were expired.

I did all these EXACTLY as I have always, according to directions, for 40 years now, NEVER an issue.

I went out, in desperation, purchased different brands after 2 failed BURPEE attempts, 90% plus on germination success, so it is 100% irrefutable and undeniably YOUR seeds.

Almost as though they were radiated or cross pollinated by a GMO with terminator gene. Clearly beans, squashes, cukes, watermelons, peppers, EVERYTHING, seeds are bad.

BURPEE seeds are tainted, not good, no longer to be trusted, very sad day for many of us as we scramble to get out food planted to save what we can of our grow/harvest before it's too late.

I will NEVER trust your company again with my food, it's too important and clearly your company has a serious issue. My advice for anyone reading and considering, "DO NOT BUY THEIR SEEDS, YOU WILL REGRET IT!"

I ordered seeds and none of them grew…

I ordered seeds and none of them grew and everything else grew in my garden just fine which were purchased from a local retailer. Also lost money due to non refundable shipping/ delivery fee. I will never order from here again, a waste of my money and time planting.

Terrible order delivery capabilities

Terrible order delivery capabilities. I ordered seeds from them three times. Each time it took 2-3weeks to ship them.

I ordered live plants from the twice. Same slowness. Most of the plants arrived near death and unusable. When I asked for replacements it tooks another 2-3weeks for them to ship, and those also arrived barely alive.

Their order tracking sucks. For 5 days in a row it kept saying "Printing Label Created Today". So I contacted them, and they said it was the fault of USPS. Not theirs. They had already shipped the package. Yet magically the next day USPS showed they received the shipment from them that day. So they provide bad service, and they are liars.

On another order, the status showed "Your order is about to ship" for a week before they actually shipped.

I will say their seeds have been good quality with high germination rates and their website provides great info about their plants. Also, they have some unique hybrid cultivars of their own that I like.

Too bad they are lame and lazy about their business operations.

Poor Performance Seeds

Of the 5 2023 seed types I ordered only two, Sunray Yellow Hybrid Sunflower and Nantes Half Long Carrot, performed. Blue Lake 174 Bush Bean had poor germination, deformed cotyledons and meristem failure. The 3 successful plants are pole beans. Pesto Party Basil only about 20% germination. Garden Sweet Burpless Hybrid Cucumber about 50% germination. Germination reports are consistent after multiple plantings.

HORRIBLE SERVICE!

Ordered plants last spring and the order never came. When I called to complain they told me they didn’t have any of the plants and issued a refund. Fast forward to this year - thought I’d give them another try. I ordered four plants that showed they would ship the same week. Never received the order so I opened a support ticket online. NEVER received a response. Called customer service and the rep told me it would take another week to receive the delivery. Ten days later nothing! Called today only to find out they don’t have the plants to deliver so they did a refund. Absolutely the worst customer service. I will never place another order with Burpee! Horrible! Would give ZERO stars if I could!

Never Buy Live Plants from Burpee

I ordered live tomato plants to be delivered the week of May 22. They arrived May 31st and were horrible. So dry and thin. The size was smaller than I could grow in my aerogarden in 3 weeks. 2 of the 6 never got planted as the stem broke off as I was unpacking them. Then 2 more died in the ground in 3 days. The last 2 are growing but so small, I doubt they will survive. The six plants cost $50. When I called Burpee they didn’t care at all. Their suggestion was to have refused the shipment - hard to do when it’s delivered while you are out! NEVER EVER BUY LIVE PLANTS FROM BURBEE!
