The Business Jet Engine brings clarity of mind if you are honest with your assessment of your business' performance.
I've been working my way through the Business Jet Engine for the last two years. I run a small tax consultancy with three employees and a number of other third parties who support me with things like, marketing, bookkeeping, accounts, payroll, HR and recruitment. Everything was ad hoc and I was running around trying to put out fires everywhere as well as trying to keep working in the business.
The Jet Engine model really is a god send, if you are honest and open with your appraisal of where things are. It has given me focus and structure on the areas of my business, where I can have the most impact and areas where there is a certain level of confidence that I can maintain a status quo for now. I was surprised that Finances and KPIs were a definite weakness for the business, despite me being an accountant!
I love that it gives you a snap shot of where you are, and because of the scoring process, you can score where you are and if you keep a track of things see how far you have come. Areas that you once thought of as areas of competence could easily become areas of weakness as you improve other areas, or if you grow significantly.
I now have a lot more clarity and as a result of that have been working on a brand new marketing campaign with a marketing consultant, previously all of my marketing had been pretty slapdash and had very little in the way of measurable ROI, after conducting my Jet Engine, this was one area of weakness. Despite trying to fix it on my own over the last 12-18 months it is imperative to the longer term success of the business that a measurable and repeatable process is developed.
I'm so glad I have been using it to improve my business, whenever I get stuck I go back to the book and the basics.
