Price Changed After Booking — Feels Like a Rip-Off

I initially contacted the company just to enquire about prices. After providing my tyre size and vehicle details, I was quoted £80, which I agreed to. We arranged for them to come to my workplace the following morning, with an estimated arrival window of 9am to 10am.

They didn’t arrive until 10:30am. Slightly inconvenient, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt.

However, when I went to pay, I was suddenly told the total was £120. I queried this and was shown a screenshot from the technician, apparently from his boss, justifying the charge. I reiterated that I had been quoted £80. After a phone call, the boss said they could “do it for £100” — claiming the original £80 was just a call-out fee and it was £20 per tyre on top.

At this point, I should have refused — but I agreed for convenience, not urgency, and didn’t want to waste more time.

I’m giving 2 stars, and that’s only because they did fit the tyres correctly and remembered to leave my locking wheel nut. But the price change felt like a bait-and-switch, and I won’t be using them again. Feels like I paid extra for the ‘convenience’ of being misled.
