On our way North ,my wife and I stopped for a coffee and snack. We both got a sausage roll , it was the worst sausage roll I have ever seen/tasted .The filling was very light coloured , almost white . I returned them and we were offered a cake instead , which was okay . The staff were pleasant , the place looked clean and I am sure they serve decent food - apart from the Sausage rolls .
Cafe Maelmin is a fabulous family run cafe / restaurant, homemade and freshly prepared food.
We went yesterday for the Sunday lunch, a choice of meat from turkey, gammon, belly pork, beef or vegetarian local sausage, all served with roast and mash potatoes, yorkshire pudding, mixed vegetables, yesterday was cauliflower, broccoli, peas, carrots and leeks and lashing of good rich gravy, all for the incredible price if £15.95
I had a piece of chocolate and orange cake to take away, and we also have 2 hot water pastry Scotch pies as well.
Helpings are always generous, always served piping hot and on hot plates, unless you have salad that it.
Really friendly and helpful staff, if you have a food allergy or intolerance let them know and they will loo up the ingredient list for you, to make sure it is safe for you to eat.
We return here on a regular basis and everything we have ever had has been fantastic, from soup and a toasty to the full breakfast, scones, pies and sauage rolls
