Don't Waste Your Money/Terrible Customer Service

We bought this flooring in Java Distressed from Lowes back in 2021. The first 8 - 9 months, we had no problem with it. The flooring was beautiful, it seemed to hold up no problem with our two Dobermans...and then the seasons changed from spring to winter. We installed it exactly the way the instructions specified using the underlayment they suggested, leaving the gap around the walls as they stated, even had it spread out for two weeks in the house to acclimate it prior to installation.

Come winter every year and there's more than an inch of clearance now around every wall even with the antique style baseboard we installed leaving a quarter inch gap between the bottom of the baseboard and the top of the flooring. After about a year, the floor started to scratch in traffic areas, badly. Trying to contact Calibamboo for any type of customer service is absolutely useless. They don't answer phones, emails or questions on social media sites that they have where they offer customer service. They have zero follow up. I have continued over the years to ask if there's anything I can do to hide the almost white scratches, even though the color is suppose to go all the way through the material which is stated clearly on their site. It does not! Worst floor ever. And the same price as the red oak hardwood floor in my kitchen, which I can have refinished. This flooring, you cannot refinish. So! Buyer beware. Had I known, I would never have spent almost $4,000 on this floor and I'm so sorry we did. It was a complete waste of money.

Shady business dealings

Still waiting for Cali Floors to refund our $13K that was charged to our Synchrony card without our consent. Processed an order, then claimed we signed off on the order, we never did. Provided no documentation with our personal information showing that we signed off. Cali says they refunded our credit card in December 2024 which never went through. Four months later and we are still trying to get Cali to contact the credit card company and make things right.

Excellent Hard Flooring

We live in Michigan. Installed 1800sqft Cali Antique Java Solid Bamboo in 2017. It's held up very well. I installed it myself 18ga nails. Anything else will crack it. It held up with our pitbull running around the house. Absolutely no scratches. Just like any product you have to prep properly otherwise you'll have problems. We used felt paper as underlayment which was approved by Cali. Cali was excellent to deal with. I got the flooring from Lowe's but Cali support was very good. They even sent us extra boxes of flooring due to installation issues not their doing. I am about to order a few more boxes for another room.

Agreed with previous critical reviews - STAY AWAY!

Agreed with previous critical reviews – Cali Bamboo, worst product ever, bar none. Installed in large home in Florida (against everyone’s advice) because Cali Bamboo assured me that it works great in Florida, even with the humidity. Looked amazing immediately after installation, but within 6 months it started “cupping” room-by-room despite following Cali’s acclimatization process and utilizing their recommended installation products and procedures. If anything is spilled, or if there is a “pet accident” it stains the wood even if cleaned up within a reasonable amount of time. The Bona product they recommend for it is a joke – nothing can save these floors. Now, I’m left with a whole house that will need to have all floors ripped up and replaced – again, at great expense. My expensive recommendation: Heed the warnings and STAY AWAY from Cali Bamboo. Great sales department, terrible product. Trust me, it will save you wasting much $$$$$. Cali Bamboo is the single biggest, most expensive mistake I have ever made for my home residence - and, as the other reviewers say, they are quick to assume it's "your" fault and except zero responsibility.

Biggest regret of my life

Biggest regret of my life. Purchased 1400 square feet and had professionally installed. Within 6 months the planks started cracking. I contacted CaliBamboo who were very quick to let me know they accept no responsibility and instead asked "what is going on at your home that is causing the problem?"
I read the bad reviews before I purchased the floor. I should have listened. Do yourself a favor and don't make the same mistake I made.

This went from 5 to 2 stars fast.

At first, I was very pleased with my experience. The ordering process was easy, the delivery was timely and the quality of the bamboo fencing I had purchased was good as well. However, as you can see, 1 of the 4 panels was noticeably lighter than the others. So to use them as is would look odd.
I emailed the company to ask what my options would be. I was thinking perhaps an exchange? A discount on my next purchase? Something to acknowledge that, while there will be some color variation, when an entire panel is a different shade entirely, there's a problem. These were the suggestions that were provided:
1. "Some customers will take the materials off the galvanized wire and redistribute poles for a more desired look."
This means I'd have to remove each reed from every panel to mix them up and hide the lighter panel by restringing every one in a random order (i.e.- spend your time and fix it yourself), or
2. "We do carry a light and darker TWP sealant but you can use any color off of the TP website for a desired look if you wanted to change the colors to be more uniform. The light is a more honey tone and the darker TWP is more of an oak tone. You can also get these products directly from TWP website. You will want to try sanding the fence like you would when you refinish a piece of furniture. They said when you sand the bamboo poles that it will open the pores on the bamboo and it should take on the TWP at a much higher rate because the grain will have the ability to freely soak in the TWP application. They also recommended that if you sand the bamboo to make sure they are wiped down but not with water before you apply the TWP. You want to make sure that the flakes that come off or sanded material is not sticking to it when you apply the TWP."
So, buy another product, sand the whole thing and stain it (i.e.- spend your money and fix it yourself)
