The wait time for answering a call is…

The wait time for answering a call is down right ridiculous. I couldn't tell you how the agents are because they never answer. An hour and a half waiting and then the phone just hangs up.
You want people's money for this kind of service?
How pathetic... DO BETTER

Complete incompetence

Since the PSHCP transferred to CL,(Sep 2023) I have spent (literally) hours on the phone attempting to get my Group insurance plan account straightened out. I have contacted the help desk, their ombudsman, and still receive rejections of claims based on an insurance plan I haven't belonged to in over 5 years- with them completely ignoring the account#, form used, and countless attempts at removing my name from this old plan. When I finally got a call back after dozens of attempts, I was asked to provide information that was not indicated in my plan handbook, with the assurance I would receive a follow up in 7 days. That was 14 days ago. Completely incompetent organization. Sad - as their old organization Great West Life was not that bad to deal with.

zero not even 1

If I could give zero I would. If you get a staff member on the phone they usually give you misinformation to get you off the phone. I have waited 4 times for over an hour on the phone and left messages each time only to be returned once. Then he gave me the wrong information. But from what I see from other reviews they don't care. Sad and discussing. I pay for this service.

If I could give them a zero for this review, I would.

I’ve only been on the PSHCP program for 6 months. Haven’t been able to each anyone by phone for the first two months. Fought over the last 4 months for coverage we already had under the previous provider. Their staff do not listen to questions or provide adequate answers. Actively delayed responses to ensure we lost name brand drug coverage. Unacceptable.

Now they tell me it will take a further 5 DAYS to reach my account

Canada Life is a terrible insurance…

Canada Life is a terrible insurance provider.

They declined our claim because Covid delays meant my sons treatment was delayed until just after he turned 18. We appealed with supporting documentation from the maxillofacial surgeons office and the orthodontist but they did not care.

They never responded to any message sent, never acknowledged receiving our appeal, and their final decisions hide behind some anonymous denial.

Canada Life does not care one bit about any of the people it serves. Their customer service is garbage.

I am really having hard time to deal with Canada Life customer service. I must say it was absolutely pathetic and horrible. The level of service I received was beyond disappointing.

the worst part is they even dont try to improve. I never experienced such terrible customer service before. They have set new example of poor customer service. They are providing torturing customer service.

Horrible insurance company

Horrible insurance company, if I could give 0 stars I would. They are very slow to process claims and correct their own errors.

Breach of contract

One star solely for them managing not to be charged for breach of contract yet.
The PSHCP benefits contract, active since July 1 2023, is an empty shell.
A conch shell you put your ear to and hallucinate the sound of waves.
No way to contact a representative. Either a message that lines are too busy and hangs up on you, either you're put on hold for hours with all sorts of hope in your heart and then the line hangs up on you. No way to sign into my account despite everyone's tips, so no chat feature at my disposal which I hear doesn't work anyway.
I sent my claims via registered snail mail. Still trying to reach them, still waiting for hear from them in any way, shape or form.
We need to put essential services covered in the contract on hold because we can no longer pay out of pocket without assurance (no pun intended) that we will be reimbursed. This is no longer frustrating, it's plain scary.
How in the world will anyone ever buy any of their other financial products and services anymore? How in the world would anyone entrust their finances in this company? How in the world will people keep their current financial services in this company's hands?
We are over 1.7 million citizens affected by this. With six degrees of separation, word spreads. Lives are not only affected, some are in real jeopardy.
It's criminal.

Scoring Canada Life a "1" is a…

Scoring Canada Life a "1" is a miscarriage of justice. They don't deserve this high of a rating. Their agents never get back to you nor do they process any claims. Their website has been broken for months. And their phone lines always say that they have a heavier than usual call volume. Well, when it is normal that one can't get through due to heavier than usual call volumes, then the message should state that they didn't hire enough agents to answer the phones

Was no ready for PSHCP. No customer service

They've taken over two months to transfer my pshcp to my existing dental plan. I've made the link and it said it would take a couple of business days however it's been weeks. I've called and it redirects you to the website. You contact them through the 'contact us' online and your inquiry goes into a void. I cannot make any medical claims until they merge the accounts.

Claim has not processed, it's been a month

I called them and followed their instructions. So, I submitted a dental claim to them on March 3 via email. Claim has not been processed yet. I followed up several times but there is no response. My employer moved to another dental and health provider recently, but we were asked to send claims incurred in Jan and Feb to canadalife. Now they are not taking our claims seriously because employer moved to another provider I think.

canada life disability hidden term

For disability, they say to there is a waiting period of 60 days before starting payment. be aware of the hidden term that "before seeing a doctor, you are not disabled, even if a doctor diagnose you of a disability before that". Due to long wait time to schedule with my family doctor, I saw emergency/walk in doctors who diagnosed me of my mental disorders, however would not fill my insurance (since they do not follow up with patients). Seeing my medical history, when I saw my family doctor, she put the date I was disabled ( a date before seeing her, since seeing her takes time). Canada life refused my claim saying my family doctor cannot diagnose me of a disability any date before seeing her....despite she is the medical professional who can make that judgement. If she put that date, there is reason to do so. thousands of Canadians die before seeing a doctor, does that mean they cannot be sick before getting seen? currently starting legal action against such hidden and unreasonable term.

Claim notifications

The claim notification emials from Canadalife.com are almost useless... "you may or may not be covered and if you are you may not get the full amount in 3 days" I'm sure with in 3 secs of me submitting a claim they're system knows exactly what I'm covered for, what a joke. I sent my suggestions years ago to my HR who passed in along to Rep, and you guessed it, NOTHING HAS CHANGED!
