Subject: Formal Complaint – Renault Arkana Purchased 09/06/25 – Request for Refund, Compensation, and Return of Property
To Car Depot, Firths Yard, Mill Road, Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, WF13 2HP
I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding the Renault Arkana purchased on 09/06/25, which was delivered late that night.
Upon inspection in daylight, it became immediately apparent that the vehicle is not in the advertised “mint condition.” It is covered in scratches and emits a strong smell of cigarette smoke. The tyre pressure warning light was on, and all four tyres were at incorrect pressures—despite the £500 charge for a “full point check.”
I contacted your office on both Wednesday and Thursday following delivery and was assured of a callback on both occasions. I received no follow-up.
I have since had the vehicle independently inspected. The findings include:
Exposed internal wiring
Evidence of previous rear-end collision damage, repair, and repainting
Mileage exceeding the advertised figure by approximately 10,000 miles
Licence plate indicating the vehicle is registered in Ireland, contrary to your claim that it was a personalised UK plate
These issues represent serious misrepresentation of the vehicle’s condition and origin, and constitute a breach of contract under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Additionally, you are in possession of my house keys, which were left with you during the transaction and have not been returned.
I am therefore requesting the following:
A full refund for the vehicle and cost of the car I part exchanged
Compensation for the cost of the independent inspection, the inconvenience caused, and the breach of contract
Immediate return of my house keys
Please respond in writing within 7 days of the date of this notification. If I do not receive a satisfactory resolution within that timeframe, I will escalate the matter to Trading Standards and initiate legal proceedings as necessary.
