Let down

Was with them since we took out mortgage 1997
Then in 2022-2023 was told no longer doing protection sickness, accident, unemployment cover
Given 3 months notice
However since my husband was just over 60 no one will cover if you are 59 and above,
Therefore wasn't able to take out a new cover with another company until retirement ,if they told us before he was 59 we could have sorced a different provider very disappointed.

Incredibly slow

Incredibly slow. I had a really clear case with full evidence and it took 4+ months before I got any payout on my Accident & Sickness policy. My partner had enough income that we could survive, but for someone less lucky they would be left with no income. Hard to contact them to ask questions.

Awful experience with accident / sickness policy…

I had an accident / sickness policy with Cardif pinnacle which was for mortgage protection ,I had paid this for 24 years and had claimed for twice over that time period.October 2022 I had a tumble off my motorcycle which resulted in a period off work due to a broken wrist and low grade fracture of upper spine .I briefly returned to work but then had my wrist pinned 8 days later as fracture too large to heal without surgery.
Finally returned to work having a total of 29 days off .
I had knee replacement surgery booked for 28th November 2022 and this managed to go ahead as planned which resulted in my return to work 31st January 2023.
I had a total of 13 weeks off work due to accident and knee surgery and it transpired that my first 2 periods of absence totalled 29 days .
The issues:
I submitted claim form mid February 2023 with all supporting evidence required - hospital discharge ,sick notes,HR absence details etc as was required and then didn't hear anything until an opened letter that was sent to to the wrong address arrived from a neighbour.
I phoned in and a complaint was logged.
This seems to be where the incompetence kicked in!
Whenever I phoned in over the next 5 months to ask for an update on my claim I was told claims dept would phone back (never did) and finally when I recieved a letter saying that due to a 30 day wait period of my policyI wasn't eligble for payment they seemed to be only 2 absences logged not three including knee surgery.
It took another 3 months and 2 more complaints and finally a letter arrived September 18th stating that my complaint of under payment was not upheld.
To add insult it also said that if I wanted to take it to the financial ombudsman they wouldn't be able to share vital information with them!!
I phoned up to question this and the final straw was that I got transferred to a Santander Bank- I don't think anyone knows what they are doing - total incompetence.
The only advisor that seemed okay was the last one I spoke to as I cancelled my policy
What an absolute shambles please please steer clear ,very happy to take money but awful when payment for accident illness needed
Kind regards Mark

Was moved over to them by Sainsburys…

Was moved over to them by Sainsburys for pet insurance and only found out when I needed to make a claim, unfortunately my experience with them only gets worse.
I’ve never had renewal documents from them however they continued to take £99 a month to cover my (originally 3) older dogs. After losing my last dog a few weeks ago, my vets sent off the claim for us and we’ve now been informed that we owe £400 to vets as Cardif Pinnacle don’t cover dogs over 9yrs. All of my dogs had been over 9yrs when Cardif Pinnacle took over sainsburys pet insurance and the agent on the phone admitted that had we been a brand new customer approaching them then they wouldn’t have taken us on due to not paying out if needed.
This raised further questions, as we lost my other dog in early 2021 and her claim was fully paid for, when this was mentioned to gain clarity on why this new claim isn’t being paid, the agent informed us that the 2021 claim “shouldn’t have been paid either but I suppose now it’s too late for us to ask for the money back?”. Haven’t even covered how condescending his voice was the longer the conversation went on, as he read out sections from a policy we can’t check as we’ve never been sent it.
So not only as a family have we lost a very much loved pet, but the insurance company basically has stolen - words directly from a solicitor, over £5000 during the policy term and that’s just for one of our dogs that were with them.
Beware!! Doesn’t even seem to be a strong enough word for anyone reading this and considering insuring their beloved pets through them.

Cardif Pinnacle - the pinnacle of poor service

CP provide my mortgage protection via nationwide - what an utter shambles.

First they try to dissuade you from making a claim by using long-winded and hard-to-complete forms. Then they only communicate via letter - no email responses even though this is the 21st century!

And then when they do write to you, it's always via 2nd class mail which takes an average of 10 days to arrive, and they cannot answer a question directly, they always acknowledge your response and then take another age to reply.

Nationwide should ditch them and choose a provider more capable of handling their business and customer accounts.

Avoid!

Has anyone else received a letter…

Has anyone else received a letter recently saying there income replacement plan is going to stop because it’s no longer viable for the company to continue it , I’ve been paying into it for 20 plus years surely this can’t be legal.

PPI Purchased through Yorkshire…

PPI Purchased through Yorkshire Building Society, even though YBS are now trying to distance themselves from this bunch of thieves. Do not purchase PPI from Cardif Pinnacle, valid claims refused, staff that harass you, emails ignored, their own paperwork is miss leading. So many issues when I was made redundant, genuine valid claims that every month I have to fight for my payment. They try every trick in the book to try stop you claiming. Yet tenacity and determination pays off, I had to threaten them with court action. Terrible company and staff are ignorant, unhelpful and have no empathy or sympathy. They must get a bonus if a claim is not paid. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

16 years of loyalty and your IT system can't receive your own claim forms

So for 16 years I have paid this company on time and never defaulted. Now when I need them to show the same level of service I have my claim forms stuck behind their own firewall and not received by them in time to make payment to ensure my mortgage is paid on time. 3 email addresses later. In excess of 15 emails sent with differing numbers of attachments they finally agree to release payment which I am told may not make it into my account in time for my mortgage to go out. Having never defaulted on my mortgage if this causes me to have a negative credit score I will be taking you to the ombudsman. The shocking PPI product that you claim I wasn't mis-sold is a joke. The form is inadequate to capture job search info and then gets stuck in your own IT system.

A form of Legalised theft…

We were sold this insurance when taking a mortgage from Nationwide. On each occasion I have made a claim they have refused it, each claim is genuine and had to get a solicitor on one claim to write to them saying it was a genuine claim.

Don’t let Nationwide sell you this insurance as it takes 3 to 6 months for them to reply and decline the claim. We had to chase them up and they said they sent a response by letter, which we never received.

Don’t use this company they are happy to take your money but not happy to pay out any claims that are put to them. They must be rating themselves here
