This company is very very unprofessional

This company is very very unprofessional. Told me I can start on Tuesday and then told me they will send me a message so I can send the documents over to them. I rang them so many times they said they will message me. Half hour later they told me the job has been filled? And as soon as I said told them that I was meant to start on Tuesday and they cut the phone on my face.

AVOID 08:30 START JOB OFFER!

AVOID 08:30 START OFFER!
SENT 2 WORKERS TO 1 JOB!

My husband wishes to submit a review of his recent experience with Career-Makers Recruitment.

I rang up career-makers to enquire about a job advert on indeed.com. I spoke to Freya who asked me how long it would take me to get to the job? Freya gave me the job and sent all the details to start. Freya sent a message at 07:30 that morning saying that there had been a problem with materials and inductions and that the start date had been pushed back but she would try to get me other work. I set off early and had not seen Freya’s message until I had arrived and been in to the site office. The Site Manager was surprised and said that there had been no issues and that there was a driver sent by Freya already there, who was getting inducted when i saw him. The other driver said that he had been asked by Freya to get there for 07:30. Freya texted back to say that she honestly didn’t know what happened but that i wasn’t needed on there. This appears to be why i was asked how long it would take me to get to site so she could text at 07:30 and I probably would not have set off. I then realised i had been a backup option for Freya all along in case the other driver had not shown up. The journey there and back was a total of 60 miles. The time spent travelling totalled 2 hours. I requested recompense for my fuel and time and Freya said she would speak to her Manager and get back to me. I didn’t hear anything more so I sent an email to career-makers and I was then contacted by phone by Adam who had agreed to pay me fuel expenses. He asked for my bank details and then just never made the payment! I have since spoken with an ex employee of career-makers who said that they were expected to book 2 people in for jobs just to cover themselves in case a worker did not show up. They appear to lie to the 08:30 worker as they are only a back up in case the 07:30 worker does not show up!

Don't know how they get any 5 star reviews must be fakes or good agency for warehouse jobs but definitely not construction or any skilled worker.

Would rate -5 if possible.

I'm a blue cpcs telehandler and been doing this for over 8 years. Never came across worse agency then this, and that is not a joke!

First job I took off them was in Bolton that was a flop as they told me to turn up half 8 then text me when I was on site that they don't need me after I paid for parking! I learned later taking on another job off them months later that the reason they send me there for half 8 not half 7 is because they send 2 drivers everytime, one at half 7 and another half 8 just as backup. So if they say to you half 8 start be aware you will waste your day!!!

Second job I took months later, first they again did this but unfortunately for me I was the first driver on site so I stayed and at half 8 second driver showed up! (He also said they messed him about three times already and thats no word of a lie.) As I paid for parking and drove there for 40 min I stayed, they only paid me £18 an hour for one day cover even though standard rate for one day cover is £20 an hour minim with any other agency.

They then offered me more work starting next day in Salford Quays where again I would have to pay for parking on site and they probably would send 2 drivers, I respectfully declined and asked them about the other driver turning up they just said its a mistake, so was Bolton mistake and just like when their hr rang me about this review and said payroll under paid me was mistake too and that they will fix it if i take it down even though i told them already to keep their spare change and not to ever offer me any work again please.

Too many mistakes and coincidences don't you think? Especially when it happens every time I did a job for them.

Just rang their payroll and they not only charging me full deduction for paying me for one day work which is like £20 but I'm also missing over 2 hours of work which is not just few quid.

So basically did full day from half 7 till half 4 and came out with £84.80 minus parking £8 and whatever fuel I used probably like 60 quid made if that with food and that's for a telehandler on one day cover, if you're happy with that and like to be messed about driving around Manchester for no reason then take a job of careermakers 🤷, I know people that make more 💰 then that on a carwash cash in hand doing less hours, but hey ho.

They don't answer when you need them only when they need you, they will tell you got long term work and will be one day and they will definitely send 2 drivers so one of you will waste time, fuel and probably paying for parking.

This is honestly the truth, I have attached photos of how much I got paid and what I've said to them about the job, if you don't believe me take a job of them and try it for yourself and you will see I told you so.

I'm just glad I only did one day for them and learned my lesson not to ever take job off them again, and if you are reading this and have any common sense I would completely avoid taking any work off them as far as telehandler is concerned, trust me on that wouldn't be writing this essay if this wasn't the honest truth.

A company may not pay for you

I DON’T recommend anyone to this agency !
It’s terrible!!!!

If you want to have no wage , then you go.

What happened to me is -
1. They paid less, happened few times, you have to ask them to pay correctly, otherwise they won’t care about you .

2. They still don’t pay me when they sent me to another company , I chase them for OVER half year but I still do not receive my wage .

There are so many agency, you have many choice but not this one , why do you need to take risk to join one that you may not receive ££££ ?
