It is the first time I felt the need to write a lengthy review.

Complaint: unethical, shocking customer service. We will take further legal action and report to trading standards for the ill practice.

Please do yourself a favour, bring a calculator and scrutinise the itemised bill BEFORE committing to anything. If you have a carpet right bill, I urge you all now to re-check and do your own calculation, check the area and perimeter, and quantities in the itemised bill. You will be surprised.
Without a home visit being offered, Usman provided an estimate with an error leading in excess of 20% on material cost. How did that happen? The areas for the rooms , the perimeters , basically every single item has been overestimated in the material schedule and inaccurate carpet removal cost without you knowing it. And by the time you knew it, you already out the door, received the itemised bill full of errors and yet this cunning salesman (Usman) told us nothing to worry about, as everything will be returned at no extra cost and the bill SHOULD only be amended AFTER delivery (he claimed it would be easier that way!). And once the delivery was done, he unethically told us a 50% charge has been incurred in all cancelled items. We are also being charged twice in the delivery charge. Why? One in the agreement £39 and one in “cash” £100 to the fitter /courier which couldn’t even provide a receipt? That £100 will be voidable if we were to use the fitter but you will end up paying twice if you don’t use. This is daylight robbery! And the fitting fee quoted is about £2900 for 2 days work. The more I wrote, the more I felt like I needed to warn anyone thinking to use the service to think twice.
And it was just beyond my comprehension that this salesperson failed to provide a formal complaint procedure but directed me to Tapi help desk when I requested one.

I've been coming here for close to 18 years and am a frequent buyer of carpets/lino/flooring and can't praise the team at Hermiston Gait enough!
Stuart/Carl and Cass are absolutely brilliant, very helpful, very professional and most of all accomodating.
If you need any help/advice then trust me, this is where you need to go ; there are plenty of jokers out there who will happily take your money and not give a damn about what they have sold you.
Terrible fitting. No suitable resolution in sight.
Carpetright fitted my carpet to a terrible standard.
After spending over £4,000 with Carpetright, I’ve been left without a carpet, with bare, dangerous floorboards and spiked grippers exposed in my home—completely unsuitable for my one-year-old child. This is after two failed fitting attempts and countless empty promises.
The mismanagement has been relentless:
- Three mismeasurements by their teams.
- Two disastrous fitting attempts, both leaving the job unfinished (one team had to be fired by the store for their rudeness, the second fitters flooded my house by nailing into a pipe)
- Various pieces of furniture, and even my new marble flooring, all scratched and damaged
- Repeated misinformation, delays, and zero accountability.
It's been over a month, and I'm still left with no carpet, and no reasonable offer to help me get my house back in order.
The complaints process has also been extremely drawn out—days between messages, and an extremely slow response from Carpetright's central team.
To make matters worse, my wife is due to give birth next month, and I was so excited to get my house in order for the event. It's looking more and more unlikely by the day.

Hove store really helped achieve…
The Hove store really helped me achieve hugely improved landing &:stair carpeting at a very reasonable cost. We are delighted by the finished result especially speed of installation after an initial measuring visit & product advice. Went on to upgrade bathroom vinyl too which is another major uplift. Service great allround.
Load of rubbish
Load of rubbish. Spent a fortune on carpets which ended up really flat and horrible when they were supposed to be fluffy and bouncy for Life. On complaining I find this company has gone bust and apparently there's no comeback. Worst experience ever. My location colindale isn't on the list of shops that's why I chose no location. It seems there are still shops around I will look into it

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!! Started off ok with Steve who was very helpful when we first walked in. Nothing but a nightmare after that with the fitting/fitters & quality of flooring. Absolute shambles, turns out the fitters can’t fit the flooring carpetright sell & do nothing but whinge about it. Nothing but problems from start to finish. Ended up with over 7k of awful flooring we hate & a free gift of carpet beetles in the new carpets. Shocking experience when moving into a new house which is stressful enough. Avoid at all costs

We were dealing with Carl at the shop we had 3 meetings with him and we explained everything we wanted in every meeting and made sure he got everything right. Then comes to the day the fitters came and they told us a complete different ordered than what we agreed with Carl then we phoned the shop and they gave us a complete different order they we got on the phone to Carl and he was completely useless told us he can’t give a refund for a order that we just never placed. Honestly horrible service and I wouldn’t get in contact with Carl.

Bad customer service and racism
I ordered my two vinyl rolls from Carpetright Farnborough on the 10th of April. I was told they would be delivered in three weeks.
I called after two weeks and was told only one roll had been delivered. I was informed that one had arrived and the other would be delivered in the third week.
Initially, I thought I could pick them up one at a time, but I realised it would cost me more to pay for delivery twice, as I wanted them delivered to my home in Cranleigh. I tried to use my car, but the rolls were too long. I also worried that I might not receive the other roll in time, so I decided to leave the first one with them and wait for the second to arrive, as I had been told it would be delivered the following week.
I called to check whether my vinyl had arrived and was told it had not. I asked if I could cancel the order and get a refund. Kelly said I could not, as there is a 28-day policy I was unaware of. I was only informed of the three-week delivery period.
I have had a back emergency back home, which is why I tried to manage things by collecting separately, but it ended up being more costly, which is why I left it.
Instead of addressing the actual issue—that their manufacturer had delayed the delivery—they could have simply communicated this, apologised, and explained the refund policy properly. Instead, they made it about me, saying that one roll was available for collection and I chose not to collect it.
The truth is, I ordered two rolls that were meant to be delivered together within three weeks, not in separate batches.
Everyone has their responsibility in this: mine was to pay for the product and arrange delivery, either through them or myself; theirs was to supply the vinyl in good condition and on time.
I asked Kelly if I could speak to the manager. She said he would call me, but I ended up calling and speaking to Daryl. It felt as though he was simply repeating what Kelly had said, and not really helping with the situation. It seemed as though they had spoken about it before my call. He did not appear to take the issue seriously.
I am not happy with the way Kelly and Daryl handled the situation or how they spoke to me. I do not believe I would have been treated the same way if I were white or English.
This issue could have been resolved in a respectful and professional manner if Kelly and Daryl had simply explained that the manufacturer was experiencing delays, that I could not cancel now but could do so after 28 days if the delivery was still not made, and apologised for the miscommunication regarding the three-week timeframe.

From the moment we walked in the door Simon was really helpful. He advised us on the standard of carpets we were looking at and was really knowledgable, also suggesting we took samples outside to check in different lights. He priced up several options for us, making recommendations for underlay too. Great experience and thoroughly recommend.

I recently paid carpetright in hove, East Sussex £2199.51 to carpet my flat.
I chose the carpet and underlay and asked for samples.
A short period passed and I was informed my carpet was in stock and ready for laying.
I insisted on receiving the samples before I went ahead.
I received the samples and had the carpet fitted.
However I find it disturbing I have spent so much money and didn't get any spec on the carpet, only the brand name which means nothing
When I approached the store about this they e mailed me a generic cleaning guide for all carpets.
ITS NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO SPEND OVER £2000 ON SOMETHING I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT.

We were sold Linoleum for our kitchen floor by Stuart at Carpetright in Hermiston Gate Edinburgh, he was very professional and talked us through everything from start to finish. Had it fitted on Wednesday by Colin the carpet fitter, he was also very professional and as my husband is a below knee amputee, Colin was more than happy to move any items that needed moved and put them back. Would highly recommend both of these guys and Carpetwise for good value. Definitely be going back again for my hall carpet.
