I booked a Hertz rental in Cancun through CarRentals.com and paid for collision coverage, then Hertz required almost $400 more for liability insurance at the counter. CarRentals.com did not clearly di... See more

SCAMMERS
Be carefull when renting from this site. I rented a car to pick it up at 2:00 pm. I called the rental at 11:00 am and the telephone was disconnected. I went to see the website of the rental and it said that it was open until 6:00 pm. When I went to pick up the car rental, the rental was closed and carrental charged me for the full amount. I called them to explain. They told me that I was lying and that on their Terms, it says that even though you cancel the rental or do not pick it up, they will charge you the full price. SUCH A SCAM!!
Booking was super easy
Booking was super easy. The email for confirmation with instructions and what was required for the rental was very detailed. Unfortunately we had to cancel our booking. It said 7 days for refund and the $ was back in my account within 15 mins!
Absolute Thieves
Absolute CROOKS, THIEVES! They will charge you but you wont ever get a car.
One star is way to much! The worst experience ever. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM.
Not only the poor girls at the vendor's desk couldn't find my reservation because credit card number were not a match (I only use one) but there's nowhere you can contact them they answered two days later with nothing helpful.
THey still charged me so they had the right info.
Do yourself a favor book somewhere else.
Deceptive business practice
Reserved cheapest rate car I found on Car Rental with Dollar Rent a Car. Original reservation was for $275 all fees, taxes, additional charges included. At pickup refused all additional charges. Was put in higher class car, even double checked with attendant. Upon return Dollar charged $156.76 in addition to Car Rentals charge of $305.89. Fighting charges at present.
I booked with them via Hotels.com
I booked with them via Hotels.com. When we got to the airport to pick up the desk was closed so we had to get a car through an alternative company. Payment was made in full at the time of booking and I have spent almost 5 hours today trying to get a refund. CarRentals have been given the email we got at the time of booking with confirmation and booking number along with a screenshot of the credit card showing the transaction that was made to them. Hotels.com are saying they cannot find the booking and CarRentals are not co-operating. As of now I am out of pocket which is totally unacceptable.
CarRentals.com is untrustworthy.
CarRentals.com is untrustworthy.
I had a agreement for a price match.
I have been told that it was agree and that a manager agreed and that I just have to submit the invoice at the end.
They reserve the car for me then they comeback to me a month later and take back their agreement.
I will never have rent the car if I did not get this price match as it was double the price.
Worst experience ever
Worst experience ever! They have wrong and outdated information and when I asked for help they couldn’t help me with my issue.
Believe ALL THE NEGATIVE reviews
STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM CARRENTALS.COM
Same experience as MANY of the NEGATIVE reviews seen here. I will quote another review simply because it is EXACTLY my personal experience with them. I quote them simply because they RESONATE with what my own experience is with this good-for-nothing company.
"They took my money and did not provide the service." I have made NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS already. Still no luck.
They are indeed (to quote yet another reviewer) "THE MOST UNSCRUPULOUS, MONEY-GRABBING, IMMORAL RENTAL FIRM I HAVE EVER HAD THE DISPLEASURE OF DEALING WITH".
Indeed, one should heed the warning of YET another reviewer, "SCAM ALERT!!!!".
To quote Zoran Milenkovic review.
"Crooks. Don't book from these people. They took my money and did not provide service"

Crooks. Don't book from these people. They took my money and did not provide service
Avoid CarRentals.com
Avoid CarRentals.com! I made a reservation online in error and called within 3 minutes to change/cancel. No luck. They are inflexible and unreasonable. Do yourself a favor and make the reservation directly with the rental car company.
carrentals.com
At the end of January 2022 I travelled to Miami from UK for a wedding and while there booked a car online with Carrentals.com for a couple of days - apparently an Expedia company. I am not so familiar with how it works in USA with insurance etc. so elected for the additional insurance when I booked (I had to pay all upfront). Online the website said I would have to pay a $600 deposit when I picked up the car.
When I went to pick up the car near Miami airport it turned out that I was booking from a company called Easirent car rentals. Then I had to pay an additional $21 per day for insurance on top of the insurance I had opted for - surprised but ok - then I had to pay a deposit of $1800 instead of $600 because I had a European driving license. I started to get a little concerned at this point because the person dealing with me was very offhand, with a take it or leave it attitude - and the rental site was a bit of a dump which did not inspire confidence (although to be fair it was a budget rental price). But I said ok and then he gave me an electronic pad saying I had to sign 5 forms electronically. The first one mentioned $60,000 as some sort of liability and at this point I thought wait a minute - there was nothing like this on the website and it was clear that the Easirent guy was in no mood to explain anything to me. So at this point I said I did not want the rental. The Easirent guy said I had to deal with Expedia to get my money back and I asked him if he had wifi I could use to contact Expedia there and then and he said no (while in fact it turns out that he did have wifi).
I took a taxi back to my hotel room, checked my online booking which did make one thing clear and that was that I could not cancel the booking!
So as I really needed a car, I took a taxi all the way back to Easirent and told the guy that after all I did want to rent the car on his terms - to which he replied sorry, he had cancelled it. I asked him to reinstate it then, to which he replied that he couldn't and I had to deal with Expedia to get my money back as he didn't have my money. To make a long story short after some heated discussion he ordered me off the premises! The guy should not be dealing with customers for sure - at least foreigners who do not know their way around how car rental works in USA.
For the last nearly two months I have been trying to get my money back from Carrentals.com but with no luck. I am not taking about much money, for me it is just principle. Surprising to me that Expedia is associated with a company like Easirent. All I can say is beware and make sure you know all upfront before booking!
The worst beginning of our vacation
The worst beginning of our vacation! Very unclear and incomplete information about additionele fees! The helpdesk is useless and incompetent, they couldn’t help us with anything, very rigid, not helpfull at all! We called for more than over an hour, we didn’t achieve anything! It was very frustrating! We had an unexpected fee for young drivers we didn’t know of and an extra fee for one way (pick-up Cagliari- drop-off alghero). Eventually it was more than double the price!! Never rent a car with this company!!
YOU WILL BE SCAMMED NEVER EVER rent a car with…
NEVER EVER rent a car with CarRentals.com they are the most unscrupulous, money-grabbing, immoral rental firm I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Having paid for a car rental in advance our flight was severely delayed and we therefore arrived 4 hours late to collect our car. Upon arrival we were told that our rental had expired and the car had been rented to someone else and, if we wanted a car, we would have to pay for a new rental. Although you are paying for a service you do not receive it and instead they attempt to gaslight you with excuses. Rental companies are fully aware that, particularly in the current global situation, there are bound to be delays but to rent a car to someone else, which had already been paid for and no compensation is tantamount to theft and RentalCars is company you should avoid like COVID-19. ALWAYS book directly with the car company NEVER through Rentalcars.com and let's put these charlatans out of business! They are only interested in scamming you out of your money and lining their pockets. I could go into details about the 2nd driver paying for the rental but according to Rentalcars.com their contract is with the primary driver but will still take the money of the 2nd driver but I will leave that matter to my credit card company for now...RENTALCARS.com is not to be trusted and use them at your peril.
Horrible company
Horrible company. Would not recommend to anyone. They were not able to accommodate our reservation but charged us anyway. Still disputing 60 days later. Claiming we never contacted them. Now going through phone records. Total BS company!!!!
Never Again!
After making a reservation with this company for a mid size sedan I checked the next day or only to find out the same car I’ve booked because on their website says “book now and save” I saw the same vehicle I booked for more than half the price I booked my car for. I tried calling and speak to the manager and other employees and all I could get is that they couldn’t help me because I booked a non-refundable booking. I understand it was a “non-refundable” booking but c’mon the price dropped that significantly from around $300+ to more than half the price in a matter of days before I have to get the car?
Their policy states they aim to please their customers but that day I wasn’t a happy customer because I felt like I was mislead via their statement when booking “book now and save” because I certainly didn’t save a dime booking early and when I tried to have someone to at least see that came off as false advertising, all I got was sorry we cannot help.
I wouldn’t book again with this company and certainly wouldn’t recommend booking with them either.
SCAM ALERT!!!!
SCAM ALERT!!!!! DON'T EVER RENT A CAR FROM CARRENTALS.COM!!! I MADE THE MISTAKE OF BOOKING A CAR THROUGH THESE THIEVES AND GOT SCREWED AND CAN'T GET MY MOBEY BACK. WHRN I LANDED IN MINNESOTA LAST NIGHT I WENT STRAIGHT TO THE DOLLER RENT A CAR DESK ONLY TO BE TOLD BY JOHN THAT NOT ONLY DIDN'T THEY HAVE ANY CARS, BUT THE DOZENS OF PEOPLE WAITING THERE WERE ALL WAITING FOR NON EXISTENT CARS FROM DOLLAR. I HAD TO RENT A CAR FROM AVIS, WHO HAD PLENTY OF CARS. WHEN I CALLED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE I GOT SOME IDIOT IS SOME THIRD WORLD, OFF SHORE, UNDERDEVELOPED AND UNEDUCATED COUNTRY SO EXPEDIA CAN PAU PENNIES ON THE DOLLAR FOR THEIR CALL CENTERS. HE SAID THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO CALL THE AIRPORT TO CONFIRM THAT THEY WERE OUT OF CARS THEN HE WOULD ISSUE THE FULL REFUND AND EMAIL ME A CONFIRMATION OF THE REFUND. WHEN I TOLD HIM THAT I'D HOLD WHIKE HE CALLED THE AIRPORT, HE TOLD ME THAT IT DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY, THAT HE'D HAVE TO DISCONNECT WITH ME TO MAKE THAT CALL. WHEN I ASKED TO SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR, HE TOLD ME THAT HE WOULD "REQUEST" A CALLBACK FROM A SUPERVISOR. NEEDLESS TO SAY, NO CALL TO THE AIRPORT, NO REFUND, NO FOLLOW UP EMAIL AND OF COURSE, NO CALLBACK FROM ANY MYTHICAL SUPERVISOR!!!!
WHAT EVER YOU DO, DON'T EVER DO BUSINESS WITH CARRENTALS.COM, EXPEDIA OR ANY OF ITS SUBSIDIARY COMPANIES, YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!!
It’s a scam
It’s a scam! They app mix prepaid and free cancellation together, made it very easy to click through without warning you about and prepay amount and it is not cancellable. They charge you right away, refuse to refund you even when the rental company canceled the reservation. It is a scam. See emails from their customer support:
"I understand our vendor direct you to us since the reservation was canceled on their end, but kindly know since its reservation was created through our website we are the owners of the policy.
That's why I can not process a refund
I tried to find you a one-time exception for this restriction, however, I am afraid that it was rejected. "
Extremely Unhappy!!
I was very unhappy when I arrived to the rental agency to find out that they only accepted credit card, as opposed to debit card, even though carrentals has already accepted my payment in full. I tried to get a refund as I invested many hundreds of dollars and also many hours into this itinerary.. the customer service was unwilling to help because the “fine print” protected their position of keeping my money even though I was unable to check out a car from the rental agency!!
Avoid.
Watch out.
CarRentals is offering "available" cars from third parties renters to attract you to book via their website. But in the end, the availability of the car will depend on the renter itself. So, advice, go directly through the rental company. if they say they have no cars available, and you see one of their vehicle on CarRentals.com... just pass.
Happens to us in Mexico/Yucatan during high season.
Untrustworthy & unhelpful
Upon arriving at the rental site my quote was tripled. There was not an option to chose another rental service as the location was an off airport site & the shuttle bus driver decided to take a lunch break at 6pm after myself & 6 other people requested a refund after they showed their terrible policies (which were inconsistent with what was online)
Their customer service after the fact is terrible & is only interested in closing your case for their statistics with no resolution or apology that has not been copy and pasted.
