Review: 30 years of mechanical experience – Why I switched from iCarsoft to J2534

As a trained mechanic with 30 years of experience and a daily user of professional equipment like VCDS Pro, I must strongly warn against iCarsoft products based on my recent technical failures.
1. CR MAX: Bricked after update
My CR MAX suffered a "black screen" failure after a standard update. The recovery design is flawed: it requires manual UID codes from system folders that are impossible to read when the hardware is unresponsive. Furthermore, the official "PCClientKits" tool fails with "Can't find you specified soft" despite a correct connection. When contacting their headquarters, I was offered a replacement display for $65, but they refused to guarantee if the mainboard was actually functional. It’s a "pay and hope" support model.
2. CR Plus: Systematic Port Errors
Tested with 4 different cables across 3 computers (Win 10/11), the software consistently fails to initialize the serial port. This indicates a lack of driver maintenance for modern operating systems.
3. Conclusion: Marketing over Mechanics
In my professional opinion, iCarsoft sacrifices software ergonomics and stability for low production costs. My technical warnings regarding these issues have reached over 22,000 views globally since 2016. I have now switched to an open J2534 PassThru solution for approximately 438 DKK, which offers far more freedom and reliability.
Don't buy locked hardware that can be disabled by a single update.

bought BMW V12 software and was mailed to me without a "dogle" used as a key to run the sofware. A couple of months now and numerous emails and I still don't have a working system. Was promised a number of resolutions including remotely helping me install the program... was assured that they did include the "dogle" within the installation disk case... having to explain how not so and then waiting for a definite resolution but support is not directly stating when this will be done. Will change post if they finally come through.

Don't expect ever hear from their support team, I doubt it exists. I have written several emails and never an acknowledgement. The scanner does some functions as advertised but does not do all. There are simple things like Oil Change Reset that are apparently too technical to be done by the scanners. I bought specifically for that function.

I had to find a computer with a serial connection. Carsoft techsupport assisted me in a professional and dedicated way. Even on Sunday. The software is easy to use and I already solved several issues on 3 different cars. 5 star product with 5 star service!

It is really bad diagnostic system

It is really bad diagnostic system. I used it on several mb w210 models and it is reading only few modules, not transmission module. Old and not updatable. I sold that and now using Maxi ecu, working really good and updates are always on their site.

Works fine for me

Works fine for me. Software is easy to install and has a user friendly interface. It was like plug and play. Both our cars had issues. My S was in limp mode and my wife's CLK had AIRBAG and ESP lights on. With this tool I was able to figure out that the limp mode on my S was caused by a bad airflow sensor. I replaced it, erased the memory and it was done! My wife's AIRBAG light was just a matter of erasing the fault and the ESP light went out after I replaced the right front wheel speed sensor, as indicated by this tool. It saved me a lot of time, money and headaches. The next dealer is about 3 hours drive and always very busy.

Carsoft.Com The most fraudulent company ever!!

Hello,
I will like to lodge a complaint about a web based company operating out of Belgium. The company name is "Carsoft" or Carsoft international.

Just to give a quick summary of what transpired was that I purchased a vehicle diagnostic product from their online store on Ebay about 10 months ago. The product which comprised of hardware and software couldn't be installed on my laptop upon receiving it. I immediately contacted the representative that I purchased it from named Paul on Ebay that I had encountered a problem.

He advised me to contact his technical representative directly at Carsoft name Geert who could assist me.
I did so accordingly, Geert tried over several days to get their product to work but was not successful. He recommended I get my computer checked out by a technical shop to ensure no issues were within my computer itself. Now just to mention I am based in the United States.

I was reluctant to go and pay for such a service because I knew there was nothing wrong with my computer, I however decided to do so.
After a few days I got in touch with Geert who tried several times to install and make their product work, but again had no luck!

He finally suggested I ship the product back to him in Belgium for further diagnosis. He also promised to reimburse me for any shipping charges. I repackaged everything and shipped it back to his attention in Belgium. He kept the product for almost 2 months, during which I expressed my buyers-remorse on having not to wait extensively for such a long time. A company should easily have new products Available to exchange right away ,especially based on the fact that this product was brand new and I never got to use the product at all.

Eventually he did contact me stating that he had fixed the issue and was shipping it back to me. Not to mention shipping from Belgium is exceptionally slow. It takes approximately 2+weeks.
After receiving the product, Geert tried to install the program on my laptop and again had issues. Finally he said "I most likely need a new computer" I said there's was nothing wrong with my computer. Works perfectly fine with other products that I have.

Just to make sure we had a clean slate to work with I went ahead and purchased a new computer. I then contacted Geert and he again could "NOT" install his software successfully to make it work with their hardware.
At this point I was so frustrated with this entire process. I told him I emphatically wanted nothing to do with this defective product. I demanded a full refund and also Contacted the ebay seller (Paul) about my intentions.

Paul pleaded with me to escalate the issue to the director of Carsoft named "Dirk" whom he knew personally to address my concern.
He asked me to withdraw my complaint from Ebay and as such will address my issue promptly.
Silly me, I did so and made contact with this director (Dirk) . He assured me to perform a full investigation of my issue/concerns.
This process took another 2 months. I expressed that I wanted nothing to do with the product and wanted just my money back!
He asked me to ship the product back to him in Belgium to his attention.

I did so (2nd time) and kept in touch with him via email from time to time. He got the product back in Belgium, this was early December 2019.
Now mid- January 2020 he emailed me stating that he was taking a trip out of town to Austria and would have his secretary reach out to me to make a final resolution to my request.
Well, I never heard from him again. Neither did any assistant contact me either.
I reached out via email and phone to carsoft directly. No one was answering phones or even responding to my emails. Even Paul had also gone silent. Over 6 months now I've no luck with anyone. Please save yourself the headache and stay a million miles away from this dubious Company. I'm not giving up and will pursue all legal avenues to get my refund and expose this fraudulent company worldwide for what they are!!

The MB I I does NOT work on" ALL" OBDII 16 DLC Mercedes Models as advertised

I purchased the MB I I because I was told/ advertised it was for the entire M B models of Mercedes equipped with OBDII-16 DLC. which I thought my CLK was and is actually printed on the M B II BOX that it came in. So I thought especially since I have a couple of older models.
Yet after shorting out my Engine Control Module on my CLK 430 yesterday and contacting Carsoft, they tell me that the MB I I does not work on my my model. News to me, further more it does not work on a lot of models. Google now prints • MB II can not work on these chassises: 107 124 126 129 140 201 202 208 210
250SL Mercedes 113 Chassis:
SURPRISE I have three MB's that are on this list. Therefore The MB II is useless to me. Lets see how Carsoft follows up on my damages of my CLK Engine Control Module that shorted out during the diagnostic and the incorrect advertising and I will change my review.

DON'T buy anything from here!!!

I bought a diagnostic system for Mercedes and it was impossible to get the sw connected to my car,
I returned the product and now 10 month and uncountable phone calls, text messages and excuses later - still no money is refunded.
The owner of the company Geert is promissing and lying over and over again.
Google Carsoft before buying anything, and you will for your own sake don't take the chance..
