Excessive delivery charge for a small item, order number - PO39667009049
I recently ordered a small item from Cash Converters and was charged £7.99 for delivery.
When the tracking was given, I could see that it had simply been sent using Royal Mail Tracked 48. For a small item, the actual Royal Mail postage cost is considerably less than £7.99.
I understand that retailers can add reasonable packaging and handling costs to postage, but £7.99 seems excessive given the size of the item and the delivery service actually used.
I’ve contacted Cash Converters to ask them to explain how this delivery charge is calculated and whether they consider it reasonable.
I’m happy to pay a fair delivery charge, but I don’t think customers should be charged substantially more than the reasonable cost of sending a small item without a clear explanation of where the additional cost comes from. I would expect next day delivery for this price and hence why I paid it.

Finchley Ballard Lane store-Bought item off store ,took a week to arrive.Didnt work straight out the box as clearly wasn’t tested first.Emailed the next day-no reply .phoned the day after -will arrange a collection.Heard nothing after.3 days of mucking around and emails and another call-eventually gets picked up .Item arrives at their store,3 days later -no refund.Phoned again and got hung up on twice.Eventually spoke to a
Rude and shouting person who said ‘only manager can do this refund’ and basically hung up again. And by magic I finally got refunds an hour later even though no ‘manager’ was on site in store .
Won’t be buying from this store again.

Brilliant people all of them are sexy especially Mischa
Bought from the preston store, they sent 2 days later, but DHL lost the parcel, constantly contacted the preston and DHL emails but neither gave me any help, DHL ignore me because i am not the sender and cash converters gave me an excuse about the store router being down....we live in an age with mobiles so no one bothered to check the store email on their mobiles or even via hotspotting.
Edit:
Below they ask me to contact a particular email that i had already emailed with the preston email.

Only part of my order arrived. Range store and they said they would dispatch it that day. A week later nothing. Had to open a PayPal case to eventually get my refund. Cash converters were unresponsive to emails. Would never buy from again.

In my experience their goods do tend to be of a surprisingly high quality (but then again you do get what you pay for.. ).
I found the Romford store to be extremely helpful when I needed to return an unsuitable item (but I'm not sure if the other stores would be so helpful if a return was requested?).
The problem (not terminal) with Cash Converters is if you want to sell something they do tend to offer unfairly low offers. I understand that they are being competitive, and this tactic might be almost inevitable, but it leaves you feeling unsatisfied if you're selling and not buying (hence not 5* but 4*).

I’ve been in several cash converters and the best one is in Clayton street Newcastle upon Tyne , the staff are very helpful and friendly and offer good prices for selling, well worth a visit to this store.

Bought a CD/cassette player and the listing included a remote control but that was not shipped. I have tried to contact them but they have not replied. I also believe that it may be faulty as it only outputs in mono not stereo.

Depending on the health of some products that isn't displayed on the website, they provide competitive prices, although their shipping prices are very expensive.
Delivery or communication between Customer and order is slow or unreliable, there's not enough tracking information or order processing involved, so it ghosts until your order is actually dispatched but even then you still have no option available to view your order on the website and see any updates.
I did email regarding the order with an update and never received an update even after the order was dispatched.
I should also mention that the cost to deliver those items to you is way too expensive, realistically I shouldn't be paying more than £5 for a standard delivery especially of a small item.
The reason I gave a 2 star was because they decided to wait and deliver my item to the post office late and upgraded my delivery, which shouldn't have happened which confused me to why I've paid £10 for delivery when I don't get this premium processing service.

I had a fantastic experience at Cash Converters Slough thanks to Diana. Although she’s normally based at the Hounslow branch, she was covering in Slough that day and provided exceptional customer service.
She was friendly, positive, professional, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to help me. She made the whole process smooth, answered all my questions, and genuinely cared about providing great service.
Cash Converters is very lucky to have someone like Diana on the team. She’s a real asset to the company and honestly deserves a pay rise for the level of service she provides!
Thank you again, Diana, for all your help. Keep up the amazing work!
