Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 69 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers found the website and product to be poorly designed, cumbersome, and often non-functional, leading to significant frustration and wasted time. People frequently encountered issues with loading times, unexpected logouts, and problems with saving progress, which made completing assignments and accessing materials incredibly difficult. The pricing was also a major concern, with many feeling that the cost was too high for a product that often delivered a subpar experience, especially when textbooks were only accessible for a limited time. Customer service was widely criticized for being unhelpful, difficult to reach, and unresponsive to refund requests or technical issues, further exacerbating user dissatisfaction. Some people also mentioned receiving used textbooks when new ones were expected, and others found the content itself to be misleading or poorly structured, making learning challenging. However, a small number of reviewers did express satisfaction with specific customer service interactions, highlighting helpful and patient support.

Dont even waste your time on such a bogus program

Absolute GARBAGE CAN DUMPSTER FIRE of a program for learning and take it from someone who's had to use it in school. I'd rather learn in person or through another platform because this one is ass and not the one at all. The platform glitches, lags, disconnects, etc. ALL THE DAMN TIME. You would think for something you have to pay money on it would be at least stable and functional but nope, it is all just a huge money grab for the colleges and for these creators of this god-awful mistake of a program. The truth has been exposed. Do not waste your money on this or you will regret it by all the headaches you will get from using it. I personally will never use this again. Scam! *Thumbs down* Hopefully the devas read this and pull their heads out their asses. Thanks.

If you are a stem student avoid Cengage…

If you are a stem student avoid Cengage at all cost. The video's are horrendous and completely skip over the content they are supposed to be informing you of. Along with the clearly fake 5 star review, pretty much any class that involves Cengage will just be busy work with no professor. Make sure to immediately complain to you advisors and department heads if a professor uses Cengage.

absolute garbage

absolute garbage, at first it seems great to have an online textbook alternative for often times less money than a hard copy but I might as well not have had the book at all. waste of money. terrible software that makes user interface extremely aggravating, even if you know what page you want to go to, you'll probably be better off figuring the course material out on your own than trying to use this garbage. save your money.

Systems and Technology

I'm taking a course that I am already certified in for college credit. I found the platform and its instructions narrow minded and not flexible enough for a wider audience that learns on a spectrum. The platform was out of date compared to the modern version that is available to the general public. So, completing work on the platform was conflicting. I found that this course made the simple concepts complexed and incomprehensible for no reason. Because of the platform's exaggerated use of the course and the technical bugs that came with it, I found that students will not truly be graded on what they know, but more of the flaws that this platform has that makes it hard for the average student to be graded fairly on. I found that this issue made more Professor's that use it more stressed out, because their objective is to uphold and alleviate all those issues and keep the students working together on the same page despite the problems that are out of their control. 1 star since there are better alternatives and Cengage is not it.

Issues with viewing online book

I bought an online book, website is very touchy with it - sometimes will stop working when using and pops up to say that I do not have access to the title.

Have emailed them about it but it still occurs/issue isn't resolved with their instructions.

Not happy

Absolutely a ****-poor company

Absolutely a ****-poor company, that seeks to maximize profit (by ****ing over students), reduce costs (by forcing the lowest quality product on those who have to use them), and are just all around a legal scam.

Cengage is the worst. Should be zero stars

Cengage is the worst "software" I have ever encountered. Their labs are laggy and slow and crash at random and when you finally complete the actual lab portion you grade for the lab is based off 5 multiple choice questions. Why waste your time dealing with this garbage the only reason they exist is because schools are desperate to save any dollar they can and making students waste their time with their awful software is a way to keep students out of classrooms. Any positive review on here you should read and tell me it's not written by cengage staff. Total joke of a company with below sub par software.

Cengage.com are rude and will not assist nor compensate for issues

Consistently reloading material and constant errors they will not resolve nor compensate for also. The customer service team is not friendly in resolving issues and wants to blame the customer's internet and competency which is very rude and should not be considered a valid response when making complaints about the services of the eBooks they provide.

Programming learning is awful in this book.

Im doing Java and its a horrible experience. The programs absolute trash when it comes to accepting code that works 100% properly for the project, all because you didn't capitalize a comment or do it exactly how the awful program wants you to run it. Any teacher should be having students get a real programming book and use that instead.

I was in an Microsoft Excel class. Never again.

I was in an Microsoft Excel class. The class is so long for something that can easily be done in a weeks time. I had a 1 credit course for half a semester, this one class was the biggest load in my 16 credit hour semester. I do not need to know what every single bar, column, line, scatter chart is the best for. I only need to know how to work excel. While doing the trainings, if you click one thing wrong by accident. You have to go back and do that task again. The trainings are so long, I have timed them. They are around an hour for something as trivial as how to save your workbook, how to reference another file, how to copy and paste, how to move a chart. Absolutely abysmal. Some of the assignments I received were the exact same except instead of telling me "copy F4:G4" they would word it like "copy the title range." I did TWICE THE WORK for what could have been done in half the time if they were just a capable company. Cengage SUCKS, I hope they go bankrupt and a better service takes its place. Absolutely rage inducing.

Zero stars if I could.

Zero stars if I could.
It is so slow, almost never works correctly. And when it does work, I do not learn anything anyways. Schools and teachers need to boycott this platform.

Horrible design and confusing layout

Cengage is awful. The layout is incredibly confusing and the instructions on assignments are very unclear. I am very proficient in computers and online sources and this is by far the worst I have ever seen. The grading criteria is fully automated. So for unique assignments such as Microsoft and Word documents, it will red flag "mistakes" that are not even there.
