Looking at 85 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the service, describing it as horrible, slow, or unavailable, with frequent outages and unreliable internet that often cut out. Customers also consistently reported negative experiences with customer service, finding it difficult to reach a live person, encountering unhelpful and rude representatives, and experiencing long wait times. Reviewers frequently mentioned issues with contact, stating it was nearly impossible to get through to a human, often being directed to automated services or experiencing dropped calls. Owned by Lumen, avoid like the plague!

Owned by Lumen, CenturyLink has had to repair my internet well over a dozen times in the last year alone. The last few techs have told me over the phone that the cause of the outages is due to the landlord's set up...I'm in an apartment complex.

I've heard that the ll's equipment is outdated, positioned wrongly, etc. Each tech has advised me that they've spoken to the landlord about the problem. Yet it persists, and I estimate that I've gone a good month without internet over the last year, again, within a 12-month period. Prior to that, it was even worse.

So, my ll declines all responsibility, and claims that CL has never approached them regarding any internet issue. Since many of my neighbors have also been impacted by this issue (per repair techs), I find this hard to believe. But I've requested records of the repairs, notes, outage causes, etc. from CL, and they're refusing to cooperate.

Yesterday a supervisor named Jaylee promised me she'd send me a history of all of my chat transcripts to my email within one day. She didn't. She sent me a copy of our chat. The chats would have at least proven that I had to request these repairs.

But they wouldn't have held the ll liable. I've explained to CL/Lumen that if the ll is the problem, it would be in their own best interest to cooperate with me and provide me with records so that I can get the ll to fix this issue.

No dice. They're dodgy, their company headquarters are very difficult to find or access, and their front line simply couldn't care less.

bad all around

Slow service, terrible customer service, can't cancel service unless you say the member is deceased, then they let you cancel, if not then they try to force you to call them, which leads just to automation and a lot of run arounds.

Worst company I have ever had interaction with, rude, outright lies I can prove

Never recieved a bill except a cancellation notice, no explaination of charges, say past due, I called next business day I was home, spoke to Ayesha, Joselle, Mark, Escolate and finally Carl, Each time they keept upping my bill, I had service on hold, had turned on for 2 weeks then tried to put on vacation hold. Final amount was upped from $186,00 to $264.00. WOW for 2 weeks of service. I kept recieving texts saying sorry out of service while I was trying to use during the 2 weeks I was on vacation. You did me a favor by disconnecting service. I will never use you again and will tell anyone willing to listen how I was duped into paying for service I could'nt use. Recieved the worst possible experience trying to communicate with your co., Because I am an old lady from the old school I am paying you from my bank. Never again!!!

My wifi has been out for a month. CenturyLink schedules me for appointments and no one is never showing up. This has been going on for a month. Finally today a technician showed up today and worked on the Internet. It started working, then after he left it went back out. I'm just outdone with CenturyLink. ☹️☹️

Absolutely the worst company I have…

Absolutely the worst company I have ever worked with. I have been trying to cancel my service for over two hours. I've tried online, calling customer service, live chat. Any and all options take you to a dead end. You get stuck in a loop that takes you no where. You never get to talk to anyone. Live chat tells you that you are not able to cancel online so you have to call a number that no one ever answers. I have been on hold for 45 min.

I was told 1 price and billed another.

I signed up for CenturyLink and was told it would be $50/month. After confirming and giving credit card, I downloaded the app and it says $55 if you use a credit card. I felt this was deceptive to not say that upfront. This is not the feeling I wanted to have with a new vendor. Where's the trust?
All forms of payment should be listed with each one's discount or additional fee.

Second major run in with CenturyLink:

Second major run in with CenturyLink:

First one several years ago I got up to find no internet in the house, Called, was told that it was shut off for illegal activities. Asked why I wasn't notified, she gave an email none of us knew and decided that somehow the modem had been hacked, they would be glad to get it back on in about ten days. Found another provider who proved to be reliable so I moved my office phones and internet to that other company.

Eight years later we move to a new home and CenturyLink is the only provider in that neighborhood so we reluctantly signed up again. No problem for eight years, very reliable service UNTIL WE NEEDED TECH SUPPORT...... They sent a replacement modem, when we hooked it up nothing would connect wireless. I found you can't call, you have to chat, so I dug up on old cable, hooked up the PC and went to chat. 45 minutes later the only thing I could get from support was that all three of my devices had failed - at the exact moment I had unplugged the old modem. I put the old modem back up and everything was instantly back on line so back to the chat we go with the same result, they do not send out defective modems so it has to be my devices.

We're replaced CenturyLink with another carrier and moved to 5G - we get faster service, we can actually get tech support help when we need it and we're at a better monthly rate

Horrible Customer Service …

Horrible experience internet went down all morning then when maintenance was complete my internet still did not come back online and I use my internet ALL DAY EVERY DAY and was told I have to wait 6 days for a tech! I was so mad I hung up! Then after unplugging and replugging my modem about 10 times it still would not work so called back and the automated system fixed the problem! So the automated century link can fix the problem where as a live person including supervisor could not! When there is a maintenance issue on your end you should make sure everyone gets back online! We pay a BILL for service 24/7 if we didn’t pay it would get shut off! We do our part you should do yours!

Worst customer service

Century link and direct TV bilked together. I paid every month on time but direct TV didn't get paid for a month from CenturyLink and I had to pay the extra $114. Every representative told me a different story and even the office of the president wasn't able to do anything. I was also billed an additional $54. I cancelled my service
Century link has the worst customer service

CenturyLink is horrible in every way

CenturyLink is horrible in every way. Most ISPs are, but CL is in it's own category of horrible. The customer service is terrible, their website is terrible, their internet service is terrible. I'm on their 940 mbps fiber plan, and I'll be lucky if I get 60 mbps. Some days I'm stuck around 8 or 9 mbps. I have to contact them almost weekly because the internet speeds become unusable. And every time I contact them, it's the same old bs. Someone with broken english asks me to reset my modem, and tells me they've "fixed the setting on their end". What does that even mean? CenturyLink is terrible, the hardware is terrible, the service is terrible. Do all that you can to avoid them. Waste of time and money.

Lumen Technologies the owner of CenturyLink and a garbage company that raised rates by $20 just because another competitor started installing fiber. Because they have a total monopoly for my area you can't do anything until the fiber is installed. $96 for 30mbit ADSL. That's criminal!

Less than a star date if experience I’ve been waiting for my service to be repaired for weeks. Its still not fixed

Less than a star. They have a monopoly so they don’t care about these reviews. People are dependant so they can continue to lie provide horrible service and charge you for services they are not providing. You will waste hours speaking to someone in a different country at a call center. The people at the call center don’t know how to trouble shoot products and don’t actually do what they say they are going to do. You will waste many hours accomplishing nothing.

Thieves never win

For my business location, CenturyLink was our only option. Signed up for internet service. If I was slightly late sending the monthly payment, they shut off my business service within days.  [ [ yes, it happened a few times and they charged me lots of extra fees to reinstate service ]Closed my business and never used CenturyLink but now that I'm not using them, they won't cancel, just keep billing over and over every month. Tried canceling for 6 months but they won't answer the phone [ only if you want to open an account ] In my opinion, they're nothing but thieves. They have a 1 star rating everywhere I look, thousands of complaints with consumer affairs, Yelp, BBB, Google review, on and on.

CenturyLink has the worst service that I've ever experienced. Finally I had a chance to change access providers and was forced to use them since they were the only ones available for years. IF you try to cancel your service via their web site - it won't let you. Gives you the runaround like whoever set it up did it for a joke. Tried calling them. I takes days to get an actual person. Incredible that they are still in business. They are criminal in there fake billing and bait and switch failed service. Horrible. Will be glad when they go bankrupt.
