Buyer Beware of faulty and unsafe ChaiEasy Machine
We purchased and received a ChaiEasy machine on February 7th. After reading the manuals and following the instructions, we were very much enjoying the ChaiEasy without any issues. After 14 days of once/day use, it suddenly began spewing steam and liquid during the brew cycle. Now the machine will not operate as the lid will not close properly. I did an internet search to see if there was something I could do differently to get it working again and I found the following review on Amazon:
"Unfortunately, I have had a frustrating experience with not just one, but two of these machines, and I believe it's important to share my feedback. The first machine I received exhibited a significant flaw where the lid became warped and the button unresponsive, cause by steam/heat exposure, preventing the lid from closing properly. Although the issue was inconvenient, I assumed it was a one-off incident and hoped for better luck with the replacement machine I was provided. However, the second machine suffered from an identical problem. During operation, the cup overflowed spewing hot beverage and scalding steam, leading to steam damage on the lid, causing it to warp. I have always been cautious not to overfill the cup, and I am meticulous in following usage guidelines. The lid buttons on both machines became stuck, making it impossible for the lids to latch closed. It's alarming to witness the same issue occurring with two different machines, especially considering my careful usage and minimal overall usage. This suggests a deeper underlying problem with the design or functionality of these machines. I sincerely hope that the company addresses this recurring issue, as I believe this to be a safety issue, potentially enough to be a recall issue."
The above review is identical to what we experienced. I emailed ChaiEasy asking if this was something that has been regularly occurring with their product?
Their response was: "It happens with 1 in every 20 machines that we have, unfortunately. As we haven't mass produced these machines, yet, this error sometimes occurs. We do have under our warranty a one time replacement machine to ensure your satisfaction. Please advise if this works for you - I have the red machine available in stock from our newest shipment."
I replied that I wasn't comfortable with a ONE TIME replacement since their machine has a 1 in 20 chance of failing. I also added that I was not interested in their red machine as my original machine was black. I asked for a return/refund.
I have since written three more emails with zero response. I am in the process of filing a claim with Visa.
