The reason I have given 2 stars is because the packaging is lovely. These chocolates are absolutely NOT worth the price. You would expect a rich, decadent tasting chocolate for the price - these are... See more

Very bad customer experience
They took 35 days to confirm and deliver my order. Meanwhile I have sent several emails not of which were replied.
I will not use it any longer and I don't recommend it.
Never again!
Charbonnel et Walker has a fabuolous name and reputation (as well as good memories for me), but the chocolate(s) I had, was/were of mediocre quality at best.
I hate to post negative reviews, almost never do, but this one really deserves it. Both taste and texture of the chocolate itself are cheap, leaving an unpleasant taste in the mouth afterwards. On their website, it is stated: "the aftertaste duration (...) reveals the quality of ingredients used in your chocolate".... Yep, that is very clear....
The chocolates/pralines aren't refined at all; a massive thick wall of chocolate covers an uninteresting, sweet (cheap) filling.
Priced at €40 for 240 grams (easter egg, in this case), quality should be top notch. This is a scam.
Apparently the company's management has chosen to leverage upon its great name by buying (I can't imagine they would produce this themselves...) rubbish and selling it as premium de luxe. Never again for me!
Not worth the prices
Bought the pink chocolate Easter egg. It was just a small, basic white chocolate eggs with some pink chocolate messily drizzled over the top. Not worth the money

Very disappointed- have the recipes changed?
Very disappointed- my first mixed box from 3 plus years ago was delicious, the intensity of flavours meant you could savour the chocolate and one was enough. My recently bought mixed milk chocolate box are so disappointing. Gone is the intense flavour and the chocolates are the same as most brands. Unfortunately I will not be paying the premium prices again as just not worth it now. Has the recipes changed?
Whisky Truffles not good
I was bought the Whisky Truffles for Christmas. Very disappointed the chocolate was bitter and crispy. The whisky tasted like a cheap blend.
Not as good as they used to be
The truffles are really not as good as they used to be - barely any Marc de champagne taste in each one, and the texture is almost unpleasant. Really disappointing as these were always such a special treat but now are very ordinary.

The ladies in the broadgate store are incredible!
I was feeling overwhelmed shopping for the first time with a new baby and the ladies were so helpful and kind.
This kind of customer service really does go a long way!
Really not very nice
Whisky Truffle chocolate - was given a box of 8 whisky truffles, excited to try them but they are so disappointing, very dry, boring and only the faintest taste of whisky.

They charge £7.50 for a delivery that takes 5 days to get there!! They email you to say it's been shipped but no email to say if its been delivered.
You call customer services and they pretty much say 'Tough luck'
Extortionate and unpleasant!
Never ordering from them again.
Missing delivery and no customer service
Chocolates are very nice but unfortunately on this occasion chocolates that were ordered and paid for nearly a month ago have not yet been delivered. No response when contacting customer services. Will be giving my business to companies that value their customers and fulfil orders in future.
Disappointed to say the least!
My partner bought me a box of chocolates from the Leeds store, he told the sales assistant what I liked and what to avoid, the box was then wrapped… on opening the chocolates on Christmas Day I was actually massively disappointed as there were more dark chocolate than milk- which he said I didn’t like…. The few milk chocolate ones I had were ok, but lots of them were soft creamed centres like coffee/rose/strawberry which again isn’t very much to my liking… for the price of them, to not then get what he asked for which was milk chocolate /nuts/ caramel/praline etc…. I’d of preferred a box of Thornton’s or forrero Roche! Very disappointed.
Great chocolates, dreadful courier
Good website, easy ordering but use DPD to deliver! Why can't they use a reliable courier, goodness knows when we'll receive our order.
Chocolates are lovely but zero customer support…
Chocolates are lovely but zero customer service support. Ordered recently with an offer of spend £x and get a free gift - exceeded this spend, no gift. No reply to any email I have sent nor messages sent on social media, disappointing for the price and expectation of such a premium company.
Excellent service
Excellent service. Delivery is quick and the items well presented.
Delicious chocolates, good service and much appreciated freebie
Order received as a gift for Easter from my mum living abroad who wanted to order directly in the UK.
Delighted with the order. Delivered quickly and professionally by Fedex. The chocolate was very well wrapped and a nice freebie was included. It was my first time trying the chocolates and I can say that Charbonnel won a new customer.
Excellent response by Customer Services
Excellent response by Customer Services, Online Orders, to an item missing in a shipment to France.
Within 24 hours the missing item was shipped. This happened during the Coronavirus Pandemic, just before the second lockdown. Human errors are understandable at this time. The problem solving reaction was first class.
Fantastic ‘real’ chocolates
Fantastic ‘real’ chocolates - one of the best.
I created an account for online orders and invariably they put a lovely freebie in with every order - so far has sea salt and caramel truffles, pink champagne truffles and lemon truffles.
Ignoring the freebies though, the chocolates are first class and meet that balance between having a proper amount of coco blended with not too much sugar and the fillings are just fabulous.
IMO the best of the larger chocolatiers in the market - well done Prince Edward for introducing Madam Charbonnel to Mrs Walker :)
Second to none
Surely by some margin best chocolatier in UK, and quite possibly in Europe despite strong competition in this second respect
