Shame zero stars isn’t an option
Shame zero stars isn’t an option, been desperately waiting to cancel my membership for months as they wouldn’t let me turn off the auto renewal until a month before. The second I got my renewal reminder I called to cancel and they won’t provide any written confirmation it’s been done! Don’t trust them one bit, used to be brilliant when I joined but a complete waste of time and money these days. Wouldn’t recommend them to traders or customers anymore. I really hope everyone leaves in droves and I know plenty of people that are. Recording all phone calls and fully expecting to have to report them if they don’t action this cancellation.

Reliable source of good tradespeople.
So far, over the last 4-5 years, we've discovered some great builders, plumbers and carpet fitters using Checkatrade. The communications are good and I like the reviews.

As a tradesperson
As a tradesperson, I honestly feel this is a scam. I wanted to create a profile on Checkatrade, but to do that I had to subscribe first. I didn’t realise it was a fixed 12-month contract.
Later, before I had even completed my account setup, I decided I wanted to cancel the subscription. They refused and said I still had to continue paying because of the fixed-term contract, even though I’m not using the service at all.
I’m paying £36 every month for nothing, and on top of that, you still have to pay separately for every job lead you want to contact.
Total waste of money for tradespeople. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Stay away from these kinds of companies.

Our memberships are fixed-term business agreements, and the contract starts from sign-up rather than from when a profile is fully completed or actively used. We appreciate that if this wasn’t clear at the time, it’s going to feel disappointing.
Different products are available depending on how tradespeople want to receive work, including subscription and lead-based options, but we understand that if you’re not using the service, the ongoing cost will feel difficult to justify.
