Tai Chi in the Garden - Brilliant for body & mind

I joined the Tai Chi in the Garden sessions this year and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s the perfect blend of gentle exercise, mindful movement, and genuine fun for all the family.

The atmosphere is light-hearted – expect to laugh, move, and feel completely at ease, regardless of your fitness level or age. The instructor is an absolute expert: knowledgeable, encouraging, and brilliant at making everyone feel included. Each session leaves you feeling refreshed, more balanced, and sharper mentally – it’s surprising how it’s much it’s improved my memory and focus too! It’s peaceful, energising, and perfect for connecting with nature. It’s not just a class, it’s a weekly highlight.

If you’re looking for something to do on your own or with your family that boosts your health, lifts your mood, and gives you a good giggle, this is it.

Tai Chi in the Garden

I'm 60 in April. Still active, sort of, but can start to feel the creaks and groans from my muscles and joints, especially after weight training. Cue Tai Chi in the Garden with Dave T. It's vastly improved my recovery as I now incorporate Tai Chi into my routines. It's great for posture, co-ordination and balance. It focuses the mind and has been a great way to bring together my local communities of Kerswell Green and Birch Green. Dave T is a master of his art and a patient and wise teacher and I look forward to learning more about this fascinating craft in the future.

Loving Tai Chi with Sifu Dave T

As a local resident to the Tai Chi in the garden hosted by Sifu Dave Taylor in Birch Green, I have just completed my 5th session and I cannot believe the improvement in my movement, balance, breathing and focus. This is a great way of exercising for those whose gym days are past them, and the community camaraderie is great too. Looking forward to the next session already, which due to the changing season is now at Earls Croome village hall on Monday evenings.

Tai chi is amazing with Dave

I've been practicing Tai chi in the garden instructed by Dave within our village community with about 14 of us in attendance since the end of July. I can honestly say it's changed my life. I love the way I feel more supple and it has given me a different mind set. Dave is patient and brilliant at his craft. If you get a chance to experience Tai chi with Dave is a must.

Tai Chi in the Garden!

So, I’m in my (very) late 50s — the kind of age where your knees start negotiating with you every time you get out of a chair. I wanted something gentle on the joints, but that would also help me loosen up and feel a bit more flexible as I head into the next decade.

Enter Dave and the art of Tai Chi. With his calm encouragement, even after just 8 weeks, I feel both mentally and physically better — and that, frankly, is priceless.

If you’ve got a body (creaky or not), do yourself a favour: find your local Tai Chi In The Garden session and give it a go. Your future self will thank you (and your knees definitely will)!
