Great hotel - Expensive Car Park let it down

One of the nicest hotels i have ever stayed in. Absolutely immaculate, staff are fantastic. Only thing that prevented this from being 5 star is the ridiculous £18 per night charge just to park your car. One of very few places i have stayed where even residents have to pay.

Please consider changing this.

The ghost of D1ck Turpin is alive!

The ghost of D1ck Turpin (famous Highwayman and robber) executed and buried in York is alive and well and living in spirit in the Churchill Hotel. Imagine the shock of booking a room for a few nights on Booking.com which states that they have car parking, to be told when you check out that they are also now charging you £18 a night for car parking in a car park that is not big enough to accommodate all of the rooms I suspect.

No mention of parking charges on the website (or very well hidden) and nothing to put customers on notice of the charges at the point of contracting – nor when you check in.

Disgraceful behaviour.

Just another organization in the City of York whose primary objective seems to be to fleece visitors of as much money as they can.

I will never darken their doors again.

Good old Yorkshire quality!

My wife and I met up with some old friends at the Churchill hotel in York, where we spent a very pleasant night. It was our first visit there but it won’t be our last! From arriving to departing I cannot fault the place, staff or food. The room was really nice and warm, despite the bitterly cold March wind. All the staff were friendly and helpful from receptionists Rachel and Ian and everyone else. We stayed B&B and the food was excellent and plentiful. The dinner we bought the evening before was also spot on and reasonably priced. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff and I would certainly recommend the Churchill!
