Unfortunately, this appears to be a scam company and my experience echoes the other 1 star reviews. It was insisted that full payment was needed before the work was due to take place in April. I paid nearly 4 thousand pounds, for work to be continually cancelled the day before, or on the day. I chased for a refund for weeks, before agreeing to a fifth work date - which again, was cancelled. They have taken my money but not provided the work, and are now not responding to emails. All addresses provided are false, they have been removed from My Builder, the numbers don't connect and emails are ignored. From my research, I can see they have been known as CI Builders, CI Builder Company, CI Home Improvements, Home Improvements & Builders. This company appears to be run by Colin Inwood of Chelmsford, but cannot be found on companies house or at any of the addresses. I will sadly need to take legal action.

I’m all for nextdoor, because it’s great for the neighbourhood, and advice also. I can across people’s experiences with C I Builder, so I will only give my experience, I used them to install a kitchen from Wren, we was let down by Wren on the delivery as our units wasn’t ready, but c I builder worked around to be able to reschedule a new slot for us, we was very grateful for this, we was recommended to use C I Builder from someone who had great work from them at my wife’s school, yes we life in a age where there are problems now especially after covid, my point is we was happy with there work we delayed them and they still accommodated us very well and gave us also after support checking on us once work was done. Our experience was good, yes me and my wife would use them again.

Got to say I’ve used this company since 2019 to do work for us on quite a few occasions and it does surprise me that there are these views, obviously understandable if there are problems with any trader ,we have had bad experiences in the pass but most will work to resolve a situation. We have had good experiences from this company so can only go by that.

This company responded to my post on MyBuilder App to replace downstairs cloakroom suite. Agreed a price. They wanted 2/3rds of money upfront to purchase the goods needed. Twice they then didn’t come as planned blaming apparently damaged goods having to be returned at last minute. 3rd time was just a no show and excuses re illness and staff not logging into the app. Very poor at responding to messages throughout. Cancelled with them and been chasing for refund since. Now not responding to messages on the app or to emails at all. Will be pursuing via the bank. Do not use them!

Hired CI Builder (owned by Colin Inwood) via MyBuilder to refurb a flat, started work 6th March 2025 taking full payment for the works originally scheduled for completion 14th March 2025. After 11 cancellations/postponements/no shows due to staff shortage and emergency leave (Col supposedly looking after his Metropolitan police son who was injured in a protest) obviously Col is not returning to finish the works, I filed a refund through Small Claims Court. It took a while and had to hire the UK Tracing Agency because the addresses on his websites and invoice were false.

Telephone Mediation Hearing set today, 31 July did not happen due to Colin Inwood's non-attendance. Unless this company refunds me the amount I am asking for, I will go all the way to court. If anyone wants to stand as witness, please let me know. We have to stop this builder from scamming people. I gave this company so many chances to finish the work but to no avail. Their modus operandi seems to quote low prices to attract customers. However, once they secured payment, they dodged responsibility with excuse after excuse.

Josh, who works in the company said that they will complete two jobs and request them to put in positive reviews here. Lucky for these two but doubt that this is all their clients' experience. They have different websites with different addresses, all false, but managed to track down Col's correct address through the UK Tracing Agency.

TO RPD AND ANDY GENT: I will suggest you serve your claims but you need to hire the UK Tracing Agency to get Colin Inwood's correct address.
