I’m extremely disappointed with Citi Bank. I purchased a refrigerator from Best Buy for $2,047.99 (total with tax: $2,249.41). After exchanging for a cheaper model, my remaining balance was supposed... See more

If I could give them a zero star i would. We had 2500 credit limit on a card that we use for my farm. With no explanation or notice they reduced this to 300 dollars which is a big problem since i primary use the card for buying diesel fuel for our semis and gas for our work vehicles. We pay off the card every month so it's not because we are missing payments. 0/10 do not recommend using crooked Citi bank.
Citi Bank Credit Card Service
Citi Bank Credit Card customer service is bad. The bot menu is a nightmare. Pretty clear they aren't actually interested in talking w/ customers. Called to get them to stop mailing me multiple applications of the card I've already got. So add environmentally illiterate to the mix. Had to get a supervisor to make that happen. She was helpful, won't deny that, but by that time I'd been jerked around too long to care.
Horrible CC Dispute Process
Citi Card was once the gold standard for fair and timely handling of purchase disputes. Today they are the worst CC company. They enable sellers who take advantage of customers. They side with the worst sellers on the internet. On two disputes, I returned the defective merchandise. The seller agreed to refund my purchase. I then cancelled the dispute. Citi's ignorant policy is, if you cancel the dispute the seller no longer needs to refund your account. This is not a CC Company that values their customers.
I think there is a problem with Citi…
I think there is a problem with Citi receiving mail currently. I have been with Citi for more than15 years and have always paid in full and on time. Never a late payment. They suspended my account today because they say they did not received my August payment. I walked inside the post office on 08/22/2023 and deposit 4 bills in the box. The other three creditors/providers received their payments and posted the checks cleared on 08/30/2023.Citi was the only one that did not receive it, so they say. In the past I would drop my bill in the mail and Citi checks would clear 3 to 4 days later, until the July payment. It took them 10 days to post it and now this month they say have not received the August payment. This is not a post office problem, this is a Citi internal problem. Some one is not doing their job. I asked where does the mail go after payment is sent and was told a P O box. Either some one is not picking the mail up or they just not opening the mail. My account was suspended until payment is received and I was hit with a late fee. Almost twenty years of paying on time and paying in full. No consideration from Citi for an excellent payment history.
Citi is a sore loser
I asked Citi to close my bank account and transfer all money out.
Instead Citi blocked my online banking access, refused to let me access my account citing "security concern".
I called Citi repeatedly asking for explanation; all they can tell me is that my account is under investigation and they will give me back access when it's done.
I asked when will this be done? Unfortunately there's no deadline given.
Citi is such a sore loser - instead of letting customer close account and leave, it has to resort to such loser tactics.
For a bank survived on taxpayer-funded bailout in 2008, it has a lot of nerve. When the next financial crisis comes, you will be out of the door like Lehman.
DO NOT TRUST CITI WITH YOUR MONEY
DO NOT TRUST CITI WITH YOUR MONEY! The company closed my savings account for no reason and tried to justify that "as outlined in the Citibank Client Manual for Consumer Accounts, Citibank reserves the right to close an account at any time and for any reason, with or without cause". They then refused to return my own money in that account for over 7 months even after numerous attempts with their customer service. I was only able to get my money back after I filed a complaint to Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Absolutely the worst banking experience of my life and shameful for a bank to put any customer, who depends on them to access their money, through it. I might still be left empty handed if it was not for CFPB so everyone with issues should file a complaint here: consumerfinance.gov
Do not do business with citi card.
Do not do business with citi card.
I had an experience where two different customer service agents transferred me back and forth between them, and changed their name each time. They wasted 45 minutes of time doing this. They are attempting to collect a debt for cards with zero balance on them.
This company has multiple security and customer service issues. Do not use them, no matter the incentive.
Citibank acts in a xenophobic manner
Citibank acts in a xenophobic manner. I have been Citi's client for several years, and recently my account was closed without any explanation. I have done absolutely nothing inappropriate while being Citi's client. If there were a valid reason to close my account, they would have told me. But given that the reasoin is my nationality, they obviously cannot explicitly mention it to justify their decision so they went on to close my account without any explanation.
Had a cash back Visa for years
Had a cash back Visa for years, but just can't stomach their poor customer service any more. Either their reps are dense, or the people that train them are. I would give them zero stars if it was possible
This CC company would not know a scam…
This CC company would not know a scam if it bit them in the a**. I was charged $49.99 from a scam company Opoosum LTD. on 4/29/2023 for a keyboard, they never sent me. If you look up Opoosum, you will see there are many complaints from customers all who never received the merchandise they ordered from Opoosum. and after me disputing the charge -- CITI has allowed the merchant to be paid. So I was scammed and robbed by both Opoosum and CITI. CITI does not care one flippin' bit about their customers and their wellbeing.
Citi Card sucks—dumbest customer…
Citi Card sucks—dumbest customer service reps. I feel like these people probably 80 IQ.
I suggest that Citigroup reviews my phone calls with their staff. I don't want to dive deep into here, but I was jumped and robbed last weekend in a foreign country. I want something CANCELLED, and they need to make it happen!!!!!! It's been two days; cancelation should be available the minute of the.
Why can't they implement a way for their staff to do this? We're living in 2023; things should be more developed than this.
Horrible Customer Service Overseas Call Center Reps Barely Speak English
Just closed my Citi Double Cash credit card account. I received a new card in the mail so I activated it. Then I tried to sign up for online account access, but was unable to receive the text with my verification code due to there being no cell service where I live. There was no option for a voice verification code for my landline. So I called customer service where things immediately went south. The rep that answered said his name was “Robin Hood”. I mean C’mon you really expect me to believe that? Then said he could only send a verification code to my cell phone. I tried to explain my situation to no avail. Finally I had had enough and I said I wish to close my account and pay off my balance. He then asked for my Date of Birth. Im like “Are you F-ing crazy”. Im not giving my date of birth to a non-English speaking foreign call center rep who calls himself “Robin Hood”. After about an hour and 4 different reps (2 US Reps) I was finally able to close my account without giving my date of birth by saying to the final rep “I have been advised by my Attorney not to give my Full social security number or date of birth out over the phone.” I guess the “A” word finally scared them…
No Fraud Protection
They don't protect you from fraud while using Citi Double Cash Card. I had 2 legitimate fraud claims and backed them with plenty of evidence, but they sided with the fraudsters. What a joke. I will be taking my business elsewhere.
Typical arrogant big bank
Ten days ago, they promised to send me the card, but it never arrived. When I contacted them, I received three different responses, all of which sounded made up. Their customer service was terrible, and I cannot recommend them to anyone. Initially, they blamed USPS for the delay, but then they said that they were having issues with printing the cards. They never even offered to ship it expedited
They couldn’t confirm the address. They just are awful. The lowest credit limit I recieved.
Customer service is a complete disaster, they don't speak English.
Customer service is a complete disaster, they don't speak English, the cashback card double charged me the autopayment, and once I pointed out the issue they all stopped talking. They could not explain why—a waste of time. Avoid them at all costs, you will lose money.
Looking into who oversees them now.
Dishonest and anti-trans
Citi charges late fees for payments made on time, uses abusive and transphobic language to their customers, Citi lies to the Authorities, and also Citi refuses to be honest on your credit reports. Are these illegal fees and us being cisgender really worth losing customers over? I will be closing all accounts with these bigoted liars and this includes my Home Depot card since these bigoted thieves contract with that!

I'm pretty disgusted with Citi-card at this point. They sided with an AC company here in FL called Darlington heating and cooling. This company ripped me off 2k and I have nothing to show for it. This is not a way to treat your customers who have an excellent payment history and ZERO balance after paying in FULL every month. I'm appalled by this treatment.
Rude scums and no common sense
Signed a credit card expecting it to use for many years. They cancelled the product after 12 months. Now I have to enquire else where for a credit card which means new enquiry will lower my credit score. Those neanderthals refused to remove my enquiry. How is that fair? You can't offer the product more than 12 months I wouldn't have signed up. Going to AFCA
Those bad reviews aren't lying to you, LISTEN to their stories. Don't learn the hard way like I did. AVOID CITIBANK.
I was leaving WellsFargo to bank with citi against all of my good judgement. I researched plenty of reviews, including the ones on TrustPilot which showed a scary majority of 1 star reviews. But, my mother suggested I use citibank, so I trusted her judgement over my own. NEVER again.
I opened my account within the past 1-2 weeks or so and was excited to finally deposit my first mobile deposit with citibank. I deposited my check from my job into citibank on 2/17/2023 and they cashed it immediately and held the funds from me. Key words: "THEY CASHED IT IMMEDIATLEY". Here's why that's important, they said my funds would be deposited 1 business day which is understandable, i did not expect instant funds even though they said I would received a small portion of it instantly while the rest is clearing. 4 days pass and I give them a call after receiving an email saying my check will now be delayed until 2/28/2023. The email specifically states "We have confidential information suggesting this check may not be paid", in other words, they are saying the check bounced. Back to those important key words... My employer and his bank both show evidence that Citibank cashed the check on the same day of 2/17/2023, verifying that they had the funds and the check was cleared legitly. Fast forward to 2/21/2023 they completely locked me out of my brand new citibank account and told me over the phone that I was flagged as suspicious because "They have received a volume of fake checks recently" which I think is a flat out lie in order to justify unreasonably flagging my account. So they forced me to verify all the information on the front of the check, which I did, and they even called my boss which is the owner of the company I work for, and he himself verified that he infact wrote the check to me, verified the amount it was, verified my name and info and my employment with him, all while I was on hold. They came back onto the phone and said they were able to verify everything, on a recorded line these words were said. Jump to today 2/23/2023, I called back because I was told to contact the fraud department in 24-48 hours so they could finalize resolving this issue for me to help me back into my account and give me the check that was stolen from me. They told me over the phone today that they already approved the decision to fully terminate my brand new Citibank account with them and told me I will no longer be able to bank with Citibank in the future either with the reason claiming I altered my check in some way, and claiming I am a suspicious person. Ignoring the fact that he called me suspicious, I asked for him to tell me exactly what or where on the check they think I altered it, he said he would go take a look and put me on hold for 5 minutes. He came back to the call and completely ignored my question and instead repeated the reasons my account was being terminated, saying the exact same words as if he were reading a script. I again asked what part of the check was altered, explaining that it is exactly as printed by my employer (Which again, they called him days before and he verified he wrote the check to me already). The citibank agent continued reading from the script repeating why my account is terminated along with other scripted responses. At this point, I asked a few more times and asked how this could have happened to me if I was told on recorded calls that Citibank already verified my check with my employer. But again got the scripted response stating why my account has been terminated.
I could tell at this point that Citibank is nothing but thieves, as plenty of bad reviews warned me about before I decided to bank with them. Not to forget to mention, MY CHECK they cashed and withheld from my on 2/17/2023 will now be returned to my employer, which is great because my boss is just going to reissue a new check for me, but whats not great is Citibank will not refund the check to him for up to 10 Business days. It didnt take them 10 business days to steal this check from me, so im unsure why it will take that long to return it.
They also will not be returning any of the money in my checking or savings accounts until a MINIMUM of 30 days to 60 days. Thats up to 2 months I have to wait to get my own money back from them that I already deposited into my account.
TLDR; Don't be blind to the thousands of bad reviews and experiences posted about Citibank online. LISTEN to people trying to tell you their experiences, because I didn't listen and now I am late on car payments and other important bills because I have a few dollars to my name living paycheck to paycheck. Do not trust citibank with your money. I have family to help me while I financially struggle, but what if I didnt!?
I'm not done spreading the word, and im hoping legal action is pursuable in my case. Please protect yourself, there are so many better options.
impossible to deal with
impossible to deal with, it seems like they will go out of their way to trouble you. Ive dealt with many banks and never had the trouble that im having with them.
